Thanks so much! Just ran into this exact issue on my 2011 GTI too. Started with intermittent 3rd brake light for a couple of weeks and then today cascaded to multiple light errors and failures. Ran across your video in my first search and sure enough that was it! Thanks again!
Sept 2020 arrived at the Vendee coast in France and one by one failed bulb warnings started to pop up. I had come to bring my caravan home so popped into local garage who shrugged his shoulders( Friday evening).....the more we drove around the more signals on the dash. I had already checked all the fuses and none had blown so I turned to the net and found your post......closer inspection of the fuse revealed exactly the same condition as your s on the post.......whipped it out, popped a new one in and everything functions as normal........SO MANY THANKYOU'S
I experienced the same issue. Multiple light errors. I have even swopped my bulbs to check but the same lights was still not working UNTIL I watched your video. It only cost me R5 to fix the problem. Thanks a mil bro
A HUGE THANK YOU MY FRIEND! You saved me big time I thought my Mk6 gti was really messed up then I Googled my issues your video came up first and sure enough it was the 30A fuse THANKS FOR THE HELP
Mate this has happened to me, you’ve saved me so much stress, installed new V lamp headlight taillights and win mirror indicators and I’m guessing I’ve messed the fuse somehow and now working ok! Cheers
You are a life saver mate. I checked the fuses without taking them out and every fuse's wire was good so I thought it might be something more serious. It's 1:30 AM and I was going to wake up in the morning and take my car to get it checked. I thought "let's check one last time if anyone had the same problem as me" and found your video. I went down to the car, checked that specific fuse you showed in the video and it was melted like yours. Thanks for saving me some money, you are the best
@@Nikwnasvrs no. I had it for 6 months after that. Volkswagen offered to buy back the car for some reason. Apparently there was some safety recall with my specific car that they didn’t want made public. They bought it way over blue book value. I now drive a Subaru. I miss my GTI though. It was a good car.😢
Big thank you. I had the same amount of lights out on my mk6. My fuse tested ok but in the process of taking out and checking the fuses nearby my all my lights came back on except for the front headlight. I will run some checks tomorrow to see if I can find the fault with the headlight.
Thank you very much, I had the same problem this morning. I removed the fuse from the box, but it looked good. So I put it again, and IT WORKED! Thanks!
Hey! This vid really helped me out! Everything on the front right side and the left brake lights were out and all it tirned out to be that same one that was blown out. I replaced the fuse and all the lights were fixed. Thanks man!
Dude, you fucking rock for recording the error and solution. This has been plaguing me intermittently for the past few days on my 2010. Gonna go pick up a 30A fuse tonight
Kudos mate. (thumbs up) Just experiencing the same issue, had an auto sparky check my battery this afternoon and it is showing 100%, next surfed some forums and Dr Google. Thanks for posting your vid, it will be beneficial to lots of guys I know. :)
Just to let you know this video also helps me fix my 2012 Audi RS3. It at least saved me USD 300 just for the dealer to take a look. A $4 fuse just bring it back to live. Otherwise the car is practically not drivable before the fix as the signals, DRL, Xenon and brake lights were gone either left or right, front or back. Can't believe a semi toasted fuse will cause so many funny problems with the lights.
Wow! I'm so glad it helped you out. I know how scary it is when an electronic part goes out in your car. A friend told me about this kind of problem and it was then when I decided to make this video. Thank you for your comment.
You are so welcome. I know the scare and aggravation you must have had. I was there too. I have since got rid of that car but I do miss it a lot. It was very good to me do many years. God bless you back. 👍🏽
Sorted :) exactly the same fuse, and same place, colleague from work had a spare 30 amp and brought it in this morning, I put it in after work and all lights are now working a treat, Thanks group2matix for the helpful video.
Same exact error messages... changed new battery, changed the f16 which did not appear damaged... still no luck... might have to go to the stealer ship
If you changed anything in byte 18 in centrl. Electronics change it to 04. It should be on 00 the real code behind it is hidden so if you changed it and put it back to 00 you bassicly screwed it up. I had this same thing happen to me. Then i went past al the 99 hex and it was number 04 the made al the errors go away and all my light work like they should do. If you didn't change anything in this setting in long coding DON'T change it!!!
Could it be caused by using aftermarket lights ? Of any kind led or not? Bc a lot of people are having this issue a melted fuse like that and a melted housing could cause a fire this is this a great example of why u should get your parts from a certified vw dealership !? Not to mention that a fuse is not spos to burn its spos to pop out of place when it is faulty with small signs of damage ,, damage at this level definitely is a red flag 🚩 a blown fuse is a blown fuse this is a out right melted fuse that also damaged the housing
Jitendar Singh check the bulb. My car sends out low voltage pulses to each load/bulb to verify connectivity. I learned that when I replaced my condescend bulbs to LED bulbs. If it does not read a load, then the bulb might be bad. Let me know if this helps.

I’m glad it helped. I think it blew because I replaced my light bulbs with LED and hadn’t put in a resistor in the circuit yet.

Where the fuse located? Passenger or engine?
@@ajym908 he shows it in the vid? engine.
Glad it helped.
Awww man , your video is a life saver. I wasted so much time changing out bulbs with NO luck. Then one fuse fixed all. Thank you again. 🖤

Dude thank you so much. Been having the issue on and off for months. $800 later I found this video along with a new CCM.
Thanks for your video! Had the same fuse blown on my tdi sportwagen. Saved me time and money!

Thank you so much for posting this! Saved a lot of time and money for many of us! 🤝

Did replacing the fuse fix it permanently, or did the problem reoccur?
@tedjohnson64 I replaced it. and It's fine thanks.

Andrew Arcitio right on!
Did replacing the fuse fix the problem permanently, or did it eventually toast the fuse again?
Exact problem I am having. I’ll check out fuse in the morning. Thanks a lot brother.
Let me know if that was it. I'm curious!
Thanks brother, finally i found what's the problem 👍👍

Thanks man, I have same issue here. Besides replacing the F16 fuse, did you change the fuse box?
No. It was not melted bad enough to have to change.
I have the same issue on my A4 1.8fsi but don’t know where to locate that exact same fuse…. Help me out pls
I wouldn’t know on an A4. I sold my GTI about 4 years ago. Sorry. Good luck.

I have the same problem on my 2010 GTI. Has anyone gotten back to you?
Same here too. Also with Gti 6 2010 xenons. Any help?
I have the same problem as well. Machanic is putting it down to body control module

Bradly what does that mean
What causes the fuse to melt ?
I have no idea. I think it’s because I converted all my exterior lights to LED. After I installed a resistor on my rear lights, it fixed the problem.
@@Group2Matrix Okay thanks

Wow mine too, fixed but why is it melted to shit who knows, theres alot of lights on that fuse
Don’t know why there’s a lot lights on that one circuit. Maybe that’s just a main lead to various relays.
Hey i checked my fuse its looks good, but my left break tail light not working any help would be much appreciated
