This is using update 4.0.1 Stats... the Mustang Alpha is priced at $30 standalone, $45 game pack, and in game for 642,600 aUEC.

This review is of the STOCK ship.
This review is just my OPINION.

The beta was my original starter I had upgraded the alpha to it. never a fan of the aurora. I did end up upgrading it to the Nomad though. I preferred the beta when it had the airlock in the middle so could have a friend jump in without having to go through the cockpit.
Same, but i upgraded it to a C1
She will always have a special place in my heart, actually still remember the first time I entered the cockpit. Bugs & all...

Awesome job. Mustang is another great starter ship.
After every wipe, when I get some extra scratch I make sure to pick up a Mustang Delta just to mess around in it. Such fun ships. And that cockpit view is fantastic.
As much as I love my bigger ships, a lot of those starters have a special place in my heart, taking them out from time to time feels really good ^^
Now I just wish they would bring back delivery missions, I want to just carry around some boxes, please CIG XD

Nice Video, as always but I particularily liked the music at the start.
the Alpha was like many others, my first game package... though I do believe that a "starter ship" should have the following
1) a bed
2) a place or capacity to store at least 1SC - 4SCU cargo boxes,
3) do low tier combat contracts
4) the capacity to do box missions
between the Alpha and Beta the Mustang has those capabilities.... combat though isn't bad when weapons are upgraded and you add the 2 wing mounts too
would be more ideal if the Alpha had the hab ability like the Beta and a rear ramp or entry point to load up even just 1 - 2 SCU cargo, as box mission boxes can be tractor beamed into the interior of the Beta unfortunately

@@LadyWraithshire nomad and hoverquad are fantastic! The alpha just like the aurora has been power crept a bit but still decent for the price point.
Mustang is my 2nd favorite starter if only for looks.

I used to fly the Mustang Delta ALL the time. Is a good light fighter.
I have a soft spot for this ship, moreso the OLD beta. But even this ship still speaks to me, the view from the cockpit is sublime! I no longer have my beta though...

I have to say that this wasn't even on my radar when I joined SC. Mainly because there was a discount on the purchase price. If they had been the same I might have gone for this one. Ultimately the Cutter Rambler is my favourite little ship at the moment.
Evenlease, there is also the Vindicator edition of this ship, I have one just for the skin. Easily the best looking one!
I bought the Mustang Alpha way back when it had fixed landing legs and zero storage. I haven't been able to play since then.
I hope you get to play someday. and the game works well when you do.
Still miss the old design. Probably my favourite design in the entire game, and what put the game on my radar all those years ago.

I think your review is pretty much spot-on for the Alpha. The Mustang series are attractive visually, and their cockpits provide exceptional visibility. The Mustang Beta with its living quarters should have been the starter ship for the series, imho. The Alpha just does so little compared to other starter ships. Of the four Mustang variants, I only own the Delta. I have a special use case for it, and it will always remain in my fleet both for that use and for sentimental reasons.
When i purchased the Mustang originally, just for it's cockpit, i hate when the cockpit feels like a jail cell, so the sooth canopy was a huge plus. In the hands of a good pilot, the Mustang is probably the best "starter" for combat if you're not looking at the avenger titan, having climbed my way up to HRT's in it before encountering difficulty, but thats more dependent on pilot skill than anything. Tbh, I wish i still had one but over time, i upgraded it to a Star Runner, and that's where it'll stay

I have different ships but the Mustang... He is the best taxi in the game in my opinion. Quickly called up, maneuverable, able to fight back. And the visibility from the cabin is amazing compared to the Aurora.
A friend of mine wished he'd used this as a starter despite having long moved on from it.
I started with a Mustang Gamma... I liked the interior before they updated it, the new one just feels... to spartan. Still it was a good ship, but I've since upgraded to a Nomad.
They might get around to giving it some love one day but I don't think that day is any time soon. Too many other issues atm.
I'm still not sure if i like the rework more than the original.
A Section where you show us your preferred loadout would be neat.
Especially on the Combat section.
I think if this had a small hab section, it would be the perfect true starter.
Huh and here I was thinking they helped make the cargo placement easier in this and the aurora this last patch

@ Crap. That’s what I was afraid of. I was hoping it was part of a Luminalia starter package that I just happened to miss. I’ve become a little bit of a collector. The ice brake paints are ones that I really like. Especially the Gladius paint from this year. I didn’t realize the Mustang had one until this video. I really appreciate you replying so quickly. I’m definitely down to run another mission with you again if you need a turret gunner or whatever.
With the nose guns on a remote turret, how well does it perform with auto-gimbal on?
Mustang Alpha. One I have yet to fly. Kinda skipped over it for a penguin.

My first ship ever. Always have a soft spot for the Alpha. Cockpit view is unmatched and its a dream to fly. Super responsive. Doesn't need a bed as it's essentially a light fighter with 4scu of cargo space. Aurora sucks by comparison.

This ship is beautiful! Sadly just a bit too fragile.
For real, especially the wings. I've had 9 tail NPCs on foot knock off full health wing through shields with p4-ARs.
I miss the OG mustang; this one is cool but i like the old one. you're gonna need to redo all these after control sufaces. winged ships will handle VERY diffrently in atmo vs Vtol ships.
I have never flown one. Maybe next time I see someone flying one I will ask to swap ships
I stil prefer the Aurora, though I'd pick ssomethign else. Avenger Titan, Itrepid is nice, and I like the 300 series (like the 31P).

I find that big dashboard on the Mustang to be annoying. It blocks my view more than the struts on the Aurora do.
The lack of a bed also rules this ship out in my view. Especially for a new player who might need to log out without finding a station to land.
I wish it was called the Mustang Sally.

I like the Mustang Alpha but I'm really not a fan of how it looks from the rear and the top. Especially the lil flimsy wings.
So weird that it's not the Beta that's the starter ship. Since the Beta has a bed.
Not gonna lie, I thought this thing had a bit more firepower since the only thing it really offers is being a light fighter.
No living space and no place to set a delivery box without extra steps make it a hard recommend for starters.

i cannot see a single reason for anyone to buy anything but an avenger titan as your starter pack ngl. it goes on sale so much and is usually only $10 more than the base game price that gets you a significantly worse ship

You do this ship such a disservice by calling it a competitor to the Aurora. While technically true, the Mustang can do everything the Aurora can, but better. It just doesn't have a bed. As for the missiles, at this tier, meh. They just cost money and if you're flying either starter, you need every credit you can get your hands on.
