I dig your enthusiasm! I bought a slider and found this vid in my search for how to use one. After watching it, I returned that slider and ordered the Edelkrone. Lucky for me they're phasing out the V2 so I got it on sale. Thanks for this vid, and the other ones. I'm going through them as fast as I can.
Only ONE thing missing from Edelkrone (and simple to implement): sun/moon/star tracking. Can be done with an app upgrade. That would be a killer upgrade for astrophotography. IMAGINE the roll presented here fixed to the stars.
Simply fabulous, Alyn! You really do keep on raising the bar... this time the sliding, tilting, panning one :D Can't wait to have a go at time-lapse as the nights get darker, cheers!

Hi Alyn - Great video and channel, I have just subscribed. Couple of quick questions regarding the HeadONE.... would it survive rain showers outdoors? and is there a way of powering it for 12 hours+?
Wonderful system and explanation, if not a bit laid back about it. You didn't quite explain how you managed the "holy grail" day to night transition. Or how the system sync with shutter actuation.
Amazing work, as always. A question does the app/your phone need to be connected to the system all the time while it’s taking images? Example, if you left it do you need to leave your phone along side ?
You download the Edelkrone app to your phone, then fire it up on your phone. When you put the battery in the Edelkrone, it sounds a beep, then the two devices try to pair with one another. Once paired, you use your phone to program the Edelkrone gadget. Once you've set the program going, the Edelkrone remembers what it is supposed to do. You can then take your phone out of range (or even switch it off) and the Edelkrone will just carry out doing what you've told it. You can also take your phone back near the Edelkrone and re-pair with the Edelkrone. The phone takes up the values from the Edelkrone; and it then shows you how many of tyhe planned images have been taken and it shows you how long if left. I have found this very useful for night-time timelapses; as you can set the system going, then get back in the car for a while to get warm again...
Wow that is so cool, be so awesum to have that, & you are such a great teacher showing how it goes together & how it operates, cheers for that, i guess you would worry about the battery going flat during the time lapse at 300 shots every 22 secs... at least i know what to dream and wish for...i still have to get my canon dslr astro-kit yet, 2021 is the year
great video. i love doing timelapses and astro. These seem to add and extra dimension to the timelapse. Alyn if you could only have one which would you get? or which would you get first?
Where do i find those pointy plants in Tenerife? I will go there in two days and i want to do a timelapse movie about Tenerife including the Milky Way. It is nice to have the plants as a foreground.
I like how ingenious this product is, especially with the slider, but unfortunately once you see the jitters in the footage, you can unsee it. A lot of the time lapse footage has slight stutters ever second or 2 and other users have noticed this with their video footage as well. I thought it would be less noticeable on your wide angle time lapses, but it's still pretty visible. That's a bummer... I really wanted something compact and simplistic like this.
Thank you for your video again !! I really love astro photography but unfortunately in Ireland we don’t have so much clear night. But I got few good shot with the laowa 15 f2.0 and now I need to go into astro timelapse. The motion you are giving to the system is it related to the motion in the sky ? How can you find the sweet spot for it ?
I was looking at the Syrp Genie 2 pan/tilt and Genie 2 linear, but their equipment isn't serviceable. I can't consider dropping 3K on something that can't be fixed.
Hey Alyn, I am so stunned after I saw this video. Great vid! at 6:08, how do you get the time lapse to continue after edelkrone motion finishes?? I use edelkrone and for me the time-lapse always stops when the motion stops. Are you using a separate intervalometer?
Alyn! Can you still preview the timelapse likes you showed us? I can't seem to. Even when I set it up only move six inches, over 10 second at 24fps it moves those six inches in 4 seconds. Thoughts? For example. Move distance - 6 inches. 24 fps. 10 second clip. Which means 240 frames and whatever interval it determines. But if it's 240 frames, at 24 fps. The preview should take 10 seconds to move, right? When I hit preview it moves that distance in 4 seconds, not 10.
Great video! The only problem that i have is that when i do long exposures like 20 seconds with the slider, my camera a6300 uses alot of time processing the image, which means i can only take 1 photo per minute when doing 20 sec exposure - when using the slider. But when i use the timelapse app on the camera there is no processing time on the app, it just goes off every 20 seconds which is how it should be. Can anyone help with a solution to that?

I'm trying to figure out how the movement of the slider along with the 20 sec exposure time doesn't result in each frame of the timelapse being blurry. Is it just that it is moving very slowly? Or is the movement stepped according to the details entered in the app and only moving in between frames? (Sorry for the question on a 3 year old video!)
I’m curious how is the camera communicates with the slider and the pan head, so it maintains the 20sec exposure and moves within those 2 sec stops and goes to another exposure. Is there a cable that comes with the head that connects to the cameras?
Hi Alyn, can you please tell me if this setup is compatible with Sony's silent shutter mode? I'm asking because move shot move rotator is not compatible with that, and I'd like to preserve my camera mechanics considering I do lots of timelapses
