I want to learn the video, editing, etc
Supplies and getting organized!
Hopefully I helped a bit with the starter supplies!
Finding some place to work while living in an apartment
Im having trouble figuring out a good price range for my flips. They come out beautifully but seem to be on the market for a while... lots of clicks and saves but no offers... is it too overpriced?
Agree with the point that you aren’t always doing work that reflects your style. Also, start with furniture that doesn’t need a lot of repairs if possible. It’s discouraging to work so hard on repairs that one might be developing skills on. Start with something that needs a scuff sand, maybe some
Wood filler, primer and paint. If you have to rebuild the drawers and cut a new backing, it means more time and resources a new person may not have yet.
yes! exactly! There are plenty of beginner pieces out there that won't make you want to throw in the towel bc it is overwhelming! I passed on so many cool pieces in the beginning bc I knew skill wise I wasn't ready for it and I would be intimidated and it would sit and collect dust in my garage! I actually have one coming in a few weeks that had concrete spilled on it and I have been so scared to touch it but I made myself start it this week! lol
My favorite tip of this video is to research what is selling in your area and make stuff people are looking for. So far all I've done is do stuff I like. Great tip! Love your channel.
Thanks for sharing!!
What is the best way to do this?
Most efficient flipper I’ve seen! I’ve been doing this for years and I love how you think ahead and plan. For example the clear wrap as a wipe for your stripper, three piles of bondo 👏
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
I'll be semi-retiring this year and will be flipping furniture and upcycling items thanks to you and the community here on TH-cam who are so talented and inspirational!
Thank you so very much! And very best wishes to you!
I saw this bondo trick out here a few days ago. I like how you separate the base bondo and then add the activator to the piles as you need them. Great hack.
Kara as always you’re adorability has come through loud and clear. I find that you are a true teacher at heart. You’re very helpful with the tips you share. That dresser turned out beautifully. I love that two tone look. Another great flip.
THANK U SO MUCH : )
Very nice! For me, the most helpful tip was to create what sells, not for myself. :)
That’s a tough one for a lot of people! We’re driven by our own aesthetic usually. Having a business born out of the necessity of keeping a roof over our head changed the way I flipped furniture that’s for sure! Lol thanks for being here!
Wow factor!!! Not surprised that you sold it so fast.
Another absolutely beautiful piece. Your information is priceless. I watch a few TH-camrs on this subject and you by far are the most detailed from your work to the products you use.
Wow, thank you! This means sooo much to me! Major compliment! See you next week!
I love your work. A friendly FYI about Bondo from a long time user - Bondo should stay workable for 10 - 15 minutes in TX weather. You may want to pull back on the hardener a bit. For a 1/2” thick 3” circle of bonds, use 3” or a strip of hardener across top. You appear to be using twice the amount of hardener - your filler portions were small dollops, not 1/2” thick. I hope this help save you both time & Bondo.
Thank you so much!! I will try this next time!
So many hot tips in this video! Love it Kara 🍋
Thanks so much!! 😘
Thanks for sharing your tips! I have been after my husband about finding a hobby he will enjoy once he retires and he has painting experience. We just sold his first flip in 24 hours and made a $170 profit. I got him to watch one of your videos and now I think he has watched at least half of them by now!
that's awesome! lol Thanks so much for your support! Really appreciate you all!
Reading this almost 2 wks after 1st posted - you are SO sweet & considerate 💕 to post your method, but you also responded personally to so many questions! AWESOME, thk you!!!
Thank YOU for watching!
How are you able to charge such a high price? How do you determine how much to sell it for? I love your process! Keep up the good work!
It's partially the area I live in but it also has a lot to do with selling for my market & what they're buying. Thanks for watching!
I would LOVE to do this for a living but as a beginner I’m scared my work will never be good enough….love all the info and knowledge you share….thank you so much ❤
Go for it! You should see my first few pieces lol...but they did sell! It was fun to learn a new skill!
Can you advise how you cut the curves out of the front bottom part? I always want to get rid of that to give a newer more modern look. Do you just measure and cut with jigsaw? Beautiful dresser.
I wish I had seen this video before I started my small, flipping business. I went at it with a vengeance. I bought surfprep sander, paint, and almost every tool you can name. I have been doing it for three years and I can honestly say your videos are the ones that I go to every time for ideas. I’m getting much better at keeping track of my expenses but whether or not I have recouped my initial investment is debatable. Thank you for your videos and for all your information and inspiration. Cheers from very cold eastern Canada.
Love this piece, especially the color ❣️
@sherrysmith332 Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
Good job. Starting with a piece that looks good but isn't vintage or an antique seems to be the perfect idea for making a good profit. Way to go.
It’s so beautiful but I don’t understand why nobody likes the old hardware I love that
lots of good tips and insight Me and my wife redo furniture also a lot of times we will buy things where the top is trashed. Which is not a problem for me. i can epoxy so that we end up with some real neat pieces to sell
That is awesome! Best wishes!
That is absolutely gorgeous.
Another beauty, my friend❣️❣️❣️. Favorite tip- the places you “hunt” for furniture and your “recon” research…😉. -Jill
yea! so glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful color and flip. Thanks for all the explanation and cost breakdown. Have a great week.
LL, You have a good understanding of design. New vid ideas? Everything you do is interesting. Maybe you could do something that requires a bit of reupholstering? Or maybe try some dry brushing using glazes like I showed you in my pics? The glazing adds some dimension to the paint without it being brown wax.
The biggest thing I am trying to learn from you is when to say when. I am always trying to out-do myself, which often leads to wasting time or even disaster, LOL. Boy I have had stuff that didn't work at all, and the problem was usually I had too grand of an idea.
Most would have put ultra modern pulls on this dresser, but they would not have worked as well, congrats the restraint. You just cannot buy furniture made this well, so it is well worth the price, in fact it is a good value. AND the stuff you do is never trendy or overly stylized, it will not look dated anytime soon. 😍
Thank you friend! I think my restrain comes from (insider secret lol) I am a minimalist in my house. You can't tell by how my garage looks but I'm very particular about the amount of clutter we keep in the house so I see how it streamlines my designs oddly enough! Also, I really do study what's in demand in my area and I have LOTS of flippers around me who do ornate beyond beautiful designs and they take longer to sell bc it's a very particular customer and particular home that will fit in vs a piece that is versatile for a few different rooms, which is what I really try to produce. =) Thanks for watching! I hope you have a great week!
Beautiful and great advise for newbies. I've been flipping and custom building for over 8 years. It's allowed me to update areas in my home and now helping pay off my daughter's wedding last fall. It's still frustrating though to hear you were blessed to get $600 for all your hard work. I live in the Pacific NW and would never get that much for a dresser 🙄. Not frustrated enough to stop flipping...just have to pick items wisely and not pay too much for them upfront!
You can do it! thanks so much for your support!
Absolutely classy.
Dallas is a lot different market than where I live. Even if I did that good of a job I doubt I would get more than $200. Any advice? I watch lots of your videos and thank you for all the useful info.
I know that can be so frustrating. I video from a few months back titled why your furniture won't sell on FB marketplace. I give a bunch of tips in there. Hope that is helpful! I also started a Patreon page and we will be discussing this a lot. Would love for you to join if you are interested! patreon.com/lemonstolemonadefurniture

Thank you for your reply 😊
Great tip about the Bondo! Love the drawer pulls!
Thanks for watching!
Wow! This makes me feel like I can do this!
Yes! I hope so! Basic changes BIG results!
Talented lady. Love it.
Thank you so much!
Che meraviglia!!!!! bellissimo complimenti.
I appreciate your explanation of each step.
I appreciate the not only what you’re doing but the reasoning of why you’re doing what you’re doing during this process. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Born out of necessity but it has been an absolute blessing ❤️
You have inspired me for a side hustle when I retire in a couple of years.
I am so thankful to hear that!
Tip on researching your area is the key
So many great tips. It is a beauty! I like the intention and focus you have for each piece. I often have more than one work in progress so timely completion is an issue for me. I appreciate that you share your positive experiences with different products, too.
Thank you so much!
This is beautiful
Do you tell people on marketplace that you upcycled this piece or how do you described your item? Love this
Yes, I will say that it is refinished and it is also listed as "used-like new" in the listing
I absolutely love this piece you demonstrated.
Thank you very much!
It is beautiful. Well done.
Thank you very much!
I so need this as I have doc. bills and not a good income.
You should give it a try. Every bit of extra income helps!! Good luck and thank you for watching!
Considering my intent to watch furniture flipping and related videos is to eventually do this myself, I value TH-cam creators that flip to sell also. Making a video for the content only defeats the purpose of uncovering valuable insights. If a "flipper" is not actively selling pieces, how can they educate accurately on how to flip furniture for profit in real markets? Thank you for this video. I value your channel greatly. ❤
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
Looks great! Great job!
Great info! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve really enjoyed your videos and have learned a lot from you. Your pieces are always beautifully done.
After watching you spray paint in several videos I’ve noticed that you don’t seem to get overspray on either your white decorative wall or on the insides of the different pieces. How do you cover your pieces so well without overspray? I haven’t any experience spraying but would like to try. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks 😊
Sure! I keep my spray pattern setting in pretty tight on the gun. You get the hand of it the more you spray. Now that I have it figured out I just keep my settings there. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful! 😍
That is beautiful I love what you did!!
Thank you Jade! Loved chatting with you!
Oh my gosh. I know just watched how you did this but HOW DID YOU DO THIS?!? 😍😍😍
Aww thank you!
Since you don't recommend buying expensive equipment at first, Have you shown techniques for using a brush or roller instead of a sprayer? I love how this dresser turned out, and the video, as a whole, was so informative!
Thank you! I do have a few videos where I will use a brush especially with milk paint. Thanks for watching!
Love your videos, I really appreciate you sharing. How do you handle working without a respirator? Especially with bondo...yikes.
Just please be careful..
I don't. I wear a respirator for most everything.
Hello. What was the wood epoxy you used in the video. The link is a spray wood filler I believe
What’s the best advice on how to sell the furniture like what websites apps or advertising do you have to do
Hi. I’m Binging on your videos. LOL. Question. Do you refinish for people?
Lol so happy you are here! I don’t do many custom any more. I go into this a bit more on the Zibra Podcast I did recently if you are interested. I’ll grab the link: open.spotify.com/episode/1pHjloaOIK01UZYNxFuneH?si=4SbFCTPRQ0eiYbKtuSX_3Q
I love your videos. I’m hooked.
Yay! Thank you!
Stunning! I love the choices you made! Great job!
Thanks so much! 😊
Well done. Thank you for the information.
Glad it was helpful!
Love love love those handles! I’d like to know more about posting on marketplace. I’m not on social media so I’m not sure what info is needed here o get the best price. Love your channel!
@hazelinthewoods9966 Thank you! I appreciate you watching!
Would it be a bad idea to paint the body before you strip the top and bottom so you don't have to tape both of them off?
You’re a good teacher! I appreciate you sharing!
Aww thank you. That really means so much to me.
Wow!! You're so talented!!! Thanks for sharing your tips with us.
You are so welcome!
Well done, and this piece turned out beautiful! My question is in regards to the base trim as it looks like it was changed/modernized. If so, I would love to see how this was done. Some of us newbies would like to know. ;)
What are you resting the dresser on top of to lift it a bit? Also, where did you find the paint gun? It’s so cute and just the right size!
Hello! I think this one is lifted on paint cans. Spray gun is from Harbor Freight the $15 option.
Hi Kara,
I have bought a few smaller pieces and I am going to do this. I, too live in the Dallas area. I notice you do a lot of dressers. Is this what mainly sells in this area? And you use a lot of Sherwin Williams paint. I am going to your Patron page. I would love to connect with you. You do fantastic work, Kara. 😁
On page
Hello! I would love to connect with you more on Patreon! Yes I do like dressers =) Looking forward to connecting more this year!
Very nice transformation!
Thank you! 😊
Hi can you explain about shipping furniture especially large pieces. Thank you your videos are informative. Thank you
I don't ship. Living in a big metroplex, I am fortunate to not have to.
Can you please advise how you went about cutting the curves off the bottom…I want to do that to a piece to update it …. Lovely dresser.
check out this one. I did something similar. th-cam.com/video/pZaV3Mr9mmY/w-d-xo.html
or this one...th-cam.com/video/8MrnHNIYrCI/w-d-xo.html
You are great at it, where did you learn your trade?God Bless
I hate my spray gun. Do you have a video on the sprayer you use? How to use it?
The piece came out beautifully. I wish I could ask $600 here...but not happening!
Hi as a new flipper I'm a little scared putting gel stain directly onto the wood. Could you mix it first and then apply it?
Absolutely! And I really don’t recommend doing that with any product besides the lilly moon gel stain. It seems to have much longer open time than any others & it let’s me get the color just right. I think a few videos back I mix it on a plate first bc I wasn’t quiet sure of color choice just yet. Thanks for watching!
Great video and thank you for it!
Where do you sell these items after refurbishing? Is there any app or website you recommend?
I’m intrigued by your attire … you aren’t splattered in paint and you shirts are from some very interesting places - concerts, universities, cities and states. Have you moved a lot? 😊
Lol well I do frequent thrift stores a lot ;)
Curious about the base of the finished project (before the stain). Looks new or was possibly reshaped in the front and fully sanded. We're there changes made to it during the flip? Maybe I missed something...
Hi y'all!
Hi Susan!
How long does the entire flipping process take?
New subscriber here…love your work
Welcome aboard! So happy to have you!
Hi there. I have watched so many of your videos and love your work. I have found the spray can adapter and sander you use but cannot find a link to your paint sprayer. Is it linked or can you link the one you like most? Thank you
Hello! I buy mine from Harbor Freight. It is the $20 spray gun they have there. Thanks !
Well I just started and worked way to many hours to make it perfect and it’s been listed for nearly a month and no bites, it’s a solid wood dresser painted black with 2 drawers stained, getting discouraged😢
Hang in there. If we have something that isn't moving, we will remove the listing and repost a few weeks later to get new lookers and make it seem like its a new listing. Hope that helps.
Love it!
Thank you so much! Simple yet profitable!
Looks wonderful! Where I am I would be lucky to get $300. It's tough to make a profit in my area.
@carlatolland8671 Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
What do you use for the background for when you post your furniture? I was thinking of going to hobby lobby and getting the stick on background since I rent but I love yours.
Thank you! I used some old garden beds that were left behind by a previous owner. Attached it to some wood boards behind it and painted them white.
Your furniture projects turn out great. I would like to try some of your ideas on some furniture I recently got, but the furniture a strange old musty smell. Will painting the furniture get rid of the old house smell or do I need to clean the furniture with a special cleaner? Thank you
cleaning will help but if it doesn't stop the smell you may need to use clean shellac in a spray can. Best wishes!
Do you deliver or the client picks up? Do you have someone that helps you bring the furniture to your work area?
Do you find dressers sell better than like table sets?
absolutly!
Where do you buy the Wiseowl One Enamel: Urban Rhino?
Love your videos! How do you know whether to use your sander or to use the stripper on the top? Thanks!
Thank you so much Danielle! I use my stripper if the finish is really thick on the top.
Do you think the products that have primers or top coats are just less work or are they financially beneficial as well?
Well less work because you save steps. They are a little more pricey but still cost effective bc you are not buying 1-2 other products.
If you don’t mind me asking, how do you give your pieces to the buyer once you sell them? They don’t come to your house do they?
What is the name of the second sander you used for the curvy areas?
Surfprep 3x4 Ray Sander: shorturl.at/hwzB1
Save 10% use code : Lemonstolemonade10
What is the tool you used to line up the wholes for the handles?
Cabinet Pull Installation Template: amzn.to/3ik75hd
Question: how does the Wise Owl One Hour Enamel perform with brush application? Ps love your videos!!! Thanks
Thank you! I have not used a brush with it but it does say it is self leveling. It is an excellent paint!
I can’t get mineral spirits in California; what can I use as a substitute? Would acetone do?
Beautiful
Very nice!
Did I miss the part where you told us how you knew it was solid wood top and not a venir?
Can you hand paint it at the same quality as a sprayer?
You sure can! It just takes a little longer
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture thank you 😊
I really want to do this but I’m nervous about sketchy people or scammers. Can anyone give me advice on that?
If they ask for your number right off the bat, it’s a scam. If they say “I’m sending my uncle ect to pick this up” in the first 2-3 messages…scam. If their profile has one or two pictures and looks like it was just created…scam
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture thank you so much!
Beautiful x x
Thank you! Cheers!
The thing that has hung me up is that you don’t include costs for equipment like a sander and sprayer. I’m just starting out and I have spent a ton of money on sandpaper, paintbrushes and rollers, lint free cloths, a small bucket, a scraper, putty knife, disposable gloves, a drop cloth, a second drop cloth after I spilled half a can of paint on the first one. It’s going to take two or three small piece sales before I break even. I’m beginning to realize that the real money is if you have someone to video and edit your content and then be entertaining enough to gather a following.
So fun thrift with you!
wow your area pays well my area would be 350. I thought this video was to teach how to build your business ?
