A really excellent BBC Sci-fi serial from the early 1960s. I found it completely engaging. Some attitudes of the time are a bit jarring to modern ears so it’s a little bit of an historical record as well! The use of Michael Tippett’s music “Ritual Dances” is near perfect in setting up the sense of unease present throughout the whole of the six episodes. Highly recommended.
Thanks so very much for posting this. Yes, an absolute classic of its genre, and one I've been looking for for ages (not helped by my forgetting what it was called!). Of course the sound quality is not perfect, but perhaps that adds to its period charm.... ;-)
