I'm a Forest fan. Re Yates, he is only good when we have a packed midfield and has a job to do...ie stop the opposition.
Yates is out of his depth in a 2 man midfield. Positioning is all wrong, not quick minded enough to be progressive and just stops playing too much

Hi, Thank you for your comment. I hear what you are saying but with Ibrahim Sangare out for a few months and also not having Danilo for a while too, our options are down to Dominguez, Yates and Ward Prowse. so I predict Yates getting more of a chance giving us the energy and break up of the play that is required in games in the middle. The stopping of play is crucial in stopping attacks for the opposition and getting us up the field. Good points though and thanks for commenting :)

@@TurtonTalksFootball however Yates's breaking up play is not winning the ball, it giving away free kick. This is fine against the top teams but we need to be free flowing ourselves against others. For me Any two from Anderson, Dominguez, jWP would suit us better. Having a 3 or 4 man midfield ( like against Liverpool) Yates may do ok 👍

Not always the case, and if he is giving away free kicks they are usually with enough space for a reset and the focus moves on to how we defend set pieces. In the position we now are in we need to have players who aren't scared to get stuck in and giving away set plays, this happens for every side and Liverpool fans were slating Yates and his play for being too physical but hey it worked for the game didn't it?
I think its something which will be alternated anyways to come in and play games where we need to be more compact and hard to break through, we aren't always going to be able to play free flowing foottball. Like I said previously Yates will probably become the Sangare role of the side whilst he is out injured and then when fit take over again. But its good to have all these options around instead of thinking oh we could do with having a Yates player and then not having one.
