He clearly wasn't a lovely fella - he had a public persona which he used to create an image of himself as a nice guy. Did you read his biography? The author was a huge fan of him as a performer but could not deny - based on a wealth of evidence - that he fell way short as a human being

I saw him live at the white rock Hastings and he was hilarious. His backward speeded up record was just incredible and he was a laugh from beginning to end.
Alan Titchmarsh well out of his depth here. Why he had a chat show I will never know. Freddie star is one of the best comedians of all time I would say.
At least we will never have to suffer such a pi** poor show like this ever again.

Yes, It's a tragedy what happened to the wonderful Freddie Starr.
He obviously had a lot of trauma as a child with his vile Father.
So perhaps depression was always there behind the laughter.
I guess he just couldn't get himself together after being tortured for many months with these false accusations.
There should have been an public apology given to him and all the others who were wrongly accused.

This man was a "one off" he was so totally unpredictable, and off the wall. There will never be
another like him. I was gutted when Robin Williams passed away, he also was a great comedian.
And we had Freddie who was one of the best. We saw him live back in the early 90's and he played
to a packed house, and he was a good singer too. r.i.p Freddie sadly missed.
Titchmarsh was so uncomfortable, Freddie excellent as usual, but always better on his own, bless him.

spent sometime tonight watching this guy he was bloody talented ,i never did know of him all the time i lived in Belfast my brother spoke of him often so when i heard the news of his death i had to do some checking i live in the USA but watch all the British shows ,i miss the nights watching the telly wit my tea and biscuits
