    How does Pino only play killin' lines? No matter what the genre, no matter what the gig HE NEVER MISSES. Perfect pocket. Perfect note selection. Perfect touch. Perfect phrases. Never dull, always tasty. Mile Davis of bass.

    That’s classic D’Angelo right there! One of the most funkiest laid back bass lines ever made! Man I wish D’Angelo could’ve been there to sing this!

    Him switching his octaver on for just a second before turning it off again sounds so cool

    I went to this live and remember that Some thing got wrong with the sound and Robert Glasper got mad at the sound man.

    I know the kick drum is supposed to be out of time. But to me it just sounds wrong. I'm not getting it.

    • @littleoceansound
      @littleoceansound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Follow it back. Check out voodoo by DeAngelo. It might not be your thing but its defiantly cool stuff if you are into groove

    • @schmarius2793
      @schmarius2793 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@littleoceansound I know what you mean but a good dilla/questlove beat can still be done well or...less well, and some kick placements are definitely off here-especially early on.

    • @macpdm
      @macpdm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@littleoceansound yes it’s one beat just behind the rest. Man that must be tough to pull off. It’s the most draggy beat I ever heard

    • @gimmeagig
      @gimmeagig 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littleoceansound I'm thinking I'm into groove . I've been playing bass for over 40 years and if 30 years ago a drummer would have played like that on a gig... I don't think that would have gone over too well on the bandstand and also with the dancers. LOL I get it. Different times now, I'm old. I have nothing but the highest respect for Pino and I'd love to hear more of this concert or this band

    • @HiCoD
      @HiCoD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      to me it just sounds like the drummer is playing it intellectually trying to recreate the original and not letting happen organically like it feels with everything questlove did. I'm a big fan of the original voodoo album though which to me marked the one last big musical revolution in regards to rhythm feel before machine time became the new paradigm and a new generation of gospel chop virtuosos made some kind of caricature out of the 'drunken' feel. Or maybe i'm just getting old... ok boomer

    drums are too much in front.....

  • @olvichristo-5308
    @olvichristo-5308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is this song for or made by the drummer ? 'cuz for me like he want to drag and drawn others, luckly other band members great swimmer. I respect laidback but this is too much. Headache

    • @littleoceansound
      @littleoceansound  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the song is called "the line" by DeAngelo. The drummer plays it extra drunk and its not for everyone ig but definitly check out the original

  • @makarone
