    Great video. I got ahead on Electric and water by paying a budgeted amount each month in the case of electricity $150 a month. I now have $265 credit on bill. Water I got a month ahead because I accidentally paid it twice one month. I didn't realize that I had put it on auto pay and paid it like I normally would. Now to work on getting ahead on my Straight Talk bill. House I just paid the March payment Wednesday. I pay that every month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month which is when I get my Social Security check. Can't wait to get out of Debt again. Hospital, Dr bills and Car repairs put us back into Debt.

    Very helpful video!! Very informative and organized. New subbie here. You are such a great explainer. So glad I found your channel because I know Baddies & Budgets, who I also follow said to make sure you get one month ahead before you cash stuff. I want to start cash stuffing, but I needed to know that I should do the bill pay-off first, the snow ball method, and then getting to the one month ahead. 😊Thanks ahead 😊, Arlene

    • @rayesbudget
      @rayesbudget  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey, Arlene. Thanks so much for subbing. I don't know if you have a small ($1k) emergency fund... but I would do that first just in case some small emergency comes up. Then, any credit card debt... then the 1 month ahead. That is just my suggestion. I wish you great success on your journey! 🙏🏽😊

    • @rayesbudget

      Yes you would do it the exact same way. After you have your monthly bills budgeted out. Whatever discretionary (extra income) you have left put it towards your savings or debt payoff. When I was paying off my credit cards and personal loan I used yhe snowball method as well. Hope that helps. 😊

    Thank you for the helpful video despite the age of the video it still has helped me! I did have a question tho. So if I am behind on bills and am trying to get caught up to get to a month ahead, will this process work? Also, I did all your steps for organizing all bills and stuff but as far as due dates? How do you organize it based on those? I realized after I got my bills organized, the dates kinda threw me off. Thanks in advance

    Love these tips! What are your thoughts on using a portion of the savings challenge to fund the bills and using the bulk of the remaining to make a dent on the other savings challenges, while also taking a portion as payment for yourself?

    • @rayesbudget
      @rayesbudget  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching! If that works for you then I would try it. But if your priority is to fund your 1 month ahead goal, doing it the way you suggest will take you a little longer but if you are trying to fund other challenges and pay yourself then I would go for it.

    Thanks for doing this video. It has motivated me to start your 3 steps. When I started saving for 1 month ahead I just picked categories to work on but I like your method of saving like the snowball method. That way we have quick easy wins of bills fully funded. What do you do on a month when the bill is higher than the minimum? Do you take from an everyday spending envelope?

    • @rayesbudget
      @rayesbudget  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question estion! Just last month the gas bill was larger than expected. But we have a buffer in our checking account that was able to cover it. Thanks for watching! 😊

      @@rayesbudget I just wanted to say that after watching your video and implementing your tip of listing out my bills from smallest to largest, I've completed 2 savings challenges and have knocked out 6 of my bills on my list🎉 I actually feel like I'm making progress on my month ahead fund and I have a plan on what to do next... all thanks to your great tips to get me started 😍🤗 thanks so much!

      I learned my lesson the hard way we have electric heat. We are in 2023 go back to your 2022 electric bill take the highest electrical you had for that year. Star putting all that money into your envelope whether you use it or not. You put 250 dollars away for my electric every month say your electric bill is 150 that way is $100 in your envelope you don't touch that now 4 next month you put in another 250 and subtract what you have and just keep adding to that envelope . You'll extra money in your envelope if an emergency comes up that's just an example I don't know what you would have to put away every month from the highest electric bill of last year in 2022 good luck I hope you give it a try

    • @rayesbudget
      @rayesbudget  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, mortgage. I also showed in the video that I have my student loans payments in my bills binder but since payments are on pause the money is sitting in the envelope.

    This method seems to work if bring home a steady paycheck. If living off your savings and only work part time on call then not so much.

    • @rayesbudget
      @rayesbudget  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it wouldn't work if you are living off of savings but for those who even have a part time job and have a little bit of discretionary income to work with, it can work. It's all in how you budget and your mindset. Every little bit of savings helps even if it is $5 here or $10 there. It will take some time but if the person is determined it can be done. Thanks for watching! 😊

    I understand the savings method completely! I am just wondering ..once that monthly budget is saved (for the next month) am I repeating the cycle of saving in that way? For example april monthly bills are covered with the savings method..would I be doing the same envelope method for may? It may be a silly question but I’m stuck lol.

    • @tabbyslifee9760

      I think I may have figured it out.. will I be using the 1 month ahead budget in addition to my regular pay checks to pay the current bills so that I have additional money left over for the following month and it continues to roll over that way?

  • @MysticBudgets
    @MysticBudgets ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Thanks for this boo! Since I lost my job in Dec I learned this month ahead is so important! Least for us! I'm gonna do the debt snow method like you did. Before I was saving for month ahead I was doing it all together but doing them individually smallest to largest seems like it will keep me motivated with the small wins along the way thanks girl!💜💜💜
