John, thanks for sharing. This took me down memory lane. When I was a little tike it was a rite of passage to shave my dad. He`s passed on now but we (my 6 older sibling's) all shaved dad using the 3 piece razor he`d got from the army in WW2. I remember the top being pure copper color. I guess all the chrome had worn off. I hadn't thought of that in many years. Thank you
Thanks for the overview. I've been using the butterfly razor for over 5 years! Sadly, a had to chuck it because the twisting mechanism rusted in the open position. WD-40 can only get you so far. I'm very new to the 3 piece. I'm hoping that the 3 piece I got today lasts a bit longer than the butterfly..
Thank you for that. I didn’t actually know there are two types of safety razors. I think I broke my butterfly razor after struggling to open it - the mechanism was stuck and I did something so when I spin it, it no longer opens and closes. Well it lasted me at least six years and I’ve had the same issue before and WD40 and a pair of pliers did seem to fix it when the mechanism locked up the past two or three years. I’ll look to buy a three piece now
That's what I thought when I saw the title - it would be comparing the 2 piece twist to open to the 3 piece. To me the 3 piece is better, because you can have much more variety when making Frankenrazors, also you have the option of using it without the safety bar. And, of course - less to get broken when it comes to the 3 piece, in my opinion.
I’ve been tradition of WetShaving for a year and a half now and had about 25 safety razors but I had too many so I had to downsize. A good 3 piece will last forever !!
I use my 3 piece razor without the bar like a 2 piece razor. Can this one be used like that? If yes, what model is it?
Which one is better ? Two piece or three piece ?
