He doesn't really knows what she wants. He's that dense, because they grew up together so he doesn't see her feelings are romantic. Penelope looking like a million bucks. And so is Colin, the actor is very handsome. Colin is basically trying to be what he is not, he's not this womanizer and Pen ( LW) called him out because he doesn't need to pretend to be like his brother but be his sensitive self. Pen and Colin are giving so much chemistry! I've rewatched the 4 episodes of the season already.
My theory is that he never changed before because he was in contact with Penelope and deep down he was satisfied romantically. But because Penelope didn’t write him this time he was feeling like something was missing and therefor went looking for it in other women👀
I'm living for Philippa and Mr Finch this season. My favorite bit in this episode is when he looks up at Penelope on the stairs and just beams about her getting her moment. Just a genuinely nice guy and Philippa seems so genuinely happy with him. They're adorable. I hope they just eat cheese and pastries together and have lots of baby finches.
@@screamr2d2 thank you! I am living for the Featheringtons this season. (Spelled that wrong I am sure) which I am happy about since it is Pen’s moment. I have always had a soft spot for her messy ass mother though
I've started doing a rewatch for background shenanigans and one of my favourite moments so far is when they're talking with the Cowpers at the garden party and Philippa is just posted up lounging on her husband and he's borrowed her parasol. Also as the Featheringtons are leaving the party and bickering about the heir thing, Dankworth goes to trot up to the front to get involved and Finch just gently hauls him back into the rear with a face like "Bro, Do NOT." Blink and you'll miss it, but I LOVE how they're thoroughly into the comedy of it all even when they are in the back of the frame with zero lines.
@@GotLostProductions I agree, 100% Those guys aren't phoning anything in. In the books Philippa's guy is Nigel Berbrooke and he's just as nice, but they gave that name to the awful ugly guy in season one. I definitely prefer his name in the show, it's so cute when she calls him Mr Finch❤️
I agree with you about 90% on the whole Penelope-Eloise blow up. But I think you've given Eloise a little too much credit... from the beginning she kind of drove me crazy because she's so set in her way of viewing things that she can't fathom other people seeing them differently. So she then dismisses or belittles anything they say that doesn't align with what she assumes they should want/think. Accusing Daphne of maintaining a perpetual pretense because she can't fathom her sister not being as terrified of childbirth as she is- so it must all be an act. Insisting that Marina's love coming home and marrying her would be the worst thing that could happen to her, simply because Eloise sees marriage as a dead end. Assuming that Penelope is as uninterested in love and marriage as she is, because she can't imagine otherwise. It's amazing and wonderful that she's so strong and confident in her opinions, but she holds them in a way that doesn't invite anyone to disagree or differ. She doesn't exactly make it safe for Penelope to be vulnerable about things. I can't imagine Penelope ever feeling safe to share her feelings for Colin with her, even if he wasn't her brother. And with her shifting (and sometimes harshly expressed) views of Lady Whistledown, I can imagine it being hard for Pen to admit to that, too. None of this is said to excuse all that Penelope did. Like I said, I generally agree with what you said. But Eloise didn't make it easy for her to come clean. She could definitely have been a better friend
Bath is a town on England’s coast that members of the Ton often had homes at. There was a smaller social circle there, including I believe a Bath short season when the London season had finished but can’t say for certain. I was waiting for your reaction to hear you saying Pen-a-lope again! 🤣 As for your comment about Francesca: I feel she is just so practical and completely used to being focused on what she's really into: Music. She doesn't believe that having a love match is the norm, so she's just making her way into the marriage mart and doing her best, which in her case, can be a bit of a struggle, since she can get overwhelmed in social settings and for someone like her to find someone who understands her at least one bit, can be quite difficult too. But I'm pretty sure we'll get much more of her story in the rest of the series.
I haven't read Francesca's book and the show could change her character anyway, so I don't know. But my impression of her from this episode is that she's simply an introvert who's happier staying at home with her music than she is going out in society. Looking forward to the next reaction!
BRO THE SHIRT 🤩 Pen is also my number one girl on this show since season 1. I'm so stoked you're the first reaction channel I follow that got to this. I need to see what other people think about every aspect of this to tide me over this torturous wait for the last 2 eps... Feels so incomplete (because it literally is).
I do agree that Penelope’s actions were unwise but in her defense she was protecting a friend from the crown…was it a brutal way to do so yes but she did get the Queen permanently off her back due to her actions..I just think folks give pen a hard time for her actions but not Eloise the same energy…Eloise should not have been with Theo but she did…people were bound to find out about it and gossip so all Pen did was bring the gossip to the papers which is technically her job as Lady Wisledown…I think Pen’s biggest mistake was not telling Eloise sooner about being Lady Wisledown.. so I do agree with you on that front but Eloise should not have seen Theo so many times if her goal was to avoid gossip and slander..I think Pen choose herself in a way but at the same time wanted to protect Eloise…she could have easily came forward as Lady Wistledown but she wanted her cake and to eat it too…she wanted her friendship with Eloise to be unshaken while also protecting her identity as Lady Wistledown…she wanted both and Eloise figured it out…I think in this season she will have to choose between a happy life with Colin and the Bridgertons or a life of gossip as Lady Wistledown. I love your reactions and I am excited to watch season 3 🖤 maybe she will reveal herself to everyone in the ton..who’s knows excited for part 2 also I do agree pen’s response to Eloise during their fight was comical and gaslighty but in her defense…this is like her life’s work..being Lady Wistledown of course she is not going to just willingly and easily give up her secret..I do agree with your take but I sympathize with Pen as well.
PEN-A-LOPE!! I say that on a regular basis because of you! Lol she is also my favorite character. I believe she deserves better than what she's always had. So I will give her a little leeway on doing dumb stuff. Lol
Penelope vs eloise take its kinda weird to me, and i don't think of penelope as this person that can do no wrong, she is flawed, but cmon its so surface level to take eloise side completely. Penelope has been bullied the whole time shes being in the ton, by her peers , not only ,that but everyone in her home she's overlooked, underestimate, under appreciated and openly even mistreated (isolating and ignoring someone is also abusive). Even her mom think and says openly the only good thing about her is that she's gonna end up alone so she can take care of her. Cressida and her friends laugh openly at her and literally humiliate her every chance she got on the balls -and i totally think she should stand up for herself but with that family backstory its pretty common to not have a backbone/Hyde away and just bottle it up. And even tho eloise take her away to avoid cressida in previous seasons, her actitude its so passive considering shes literally part of the IT family, in a society that is so interested in status she could have help her, they would've listen, the lieral proof is showed this season cressida does listen to her and i loooove eloise but girl, your best friend father died and u were more worried about lady whistledown? You didn't check on her at all just when she openly cried(?) And u just assumed it was that. What bothers me is that she had so much admiration for this stranger woman, but when she realized it was her friend just saw the negative aspect of it, id get mad at her too for the lie but she took it way too far, it was pretty self absorbed. And TBH Penelope is not even that bad, if I had the power she had I'd do way more damage lol in this society everyone gossips about everyone she just have a plataform, she's just a reflection of their environment but she's the one to hate? Like I get it sucks as a close friend but them aren't as personal as they believe they are lol Penelope deserves to make mistakes sorry if the mistake was to try to keep something loved and personal from your best friend, and have to take a harsh decision after many many manyyyy times she warned you so eloise head literally doesn't get cut off, next time totally let her take the fault so she gets to sleep forever in heaven or In prison for being a traitor to the royals😅
Idk I feel like Eloise is entirely justified in being upset with Penelope. It's less about her actions as lady w and moreso that she lied and gaslit her best friend for years about it. If you found out your best friend was doing that to you you'd probably be pretty upset. Especially if she called you simply jealous when you confronted her about it
@@SleepyWaffles What I never see anybody bring up is that Eloise broke into Penelope's room and ransacked it. She upended furniture and tore up floorboards.
