    Magnesium anode is greatly affected by water and corrosion is always quite disastrous to the battery's electrochemistry due to the MgO and Mg(OH)2 layer formation. So this good performance can only last for a very short while after which everything (Voltage and Current) drastically goes down to non-utility levels. Yoiu can make it better by passivating the Mg anode with a TMO coat, using a molecular crowding agent, using a surfacant or adding alcohol to encapsulate the free H2O molecules. the inside of the copper will also suffer. Coating the inside with a protective layer of conductive CuO will greatly help. Want to make it better? Add MnO2 and CuO and you have some magic!!!!!

      from where do i get all of these chemicals?

    • @wwabete2009

      @@techcube7291 TMO is for transition metal oxide like Zinc Oxide/Manganese Dioxide/Aluminum Oxide. A molecular crowding agent like PEG400 works miracles in protecting the corrosion of the anode especially when used in conjuction with any surfacant like Doecyl Glucoside or normal dishwashing liquid. Most of them can be bought from ebay. So you can try some few experiments to see which works best. As for the electrolyte, a neutral Magnesium Nitrate is the best or if you are looking for enhanced performance you could go for the MACC electrolyte. Google it out.

    Use a mixture of epsom salt and NaOH for the electrolyte. Use some paper towel as the separator. Fill the space between the copper tube with a mix of graphite, manganese dioxide and if you want more power another metal oxide such as CuO PbO2 etc. Makes about 1.75V and for a boiler rod you get about 2A of current. It lasts a long time. Aluminum can be used as well but will need a NaOH etch before it can be used. ❤

    Hello sir. I have salt water battery videos. Is it ok if you take a look on it because I want to hear your opinion and suggestion about Salt water battery. I am one of your big fan.

    With same setup by changing electrolyte to NaOH, I guess you can get higher voltage and current. What do you say

    Hi! Can you make one with metals which will work when recharged? I know you could use lead for it... what non-toxic metal can you use?

      @realflow100 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lead is so easy to get and make a battery with you can use baking soda and some soldering wire coiled up into a spiral its so easy! And rechargeable too! I made one out of thin lead strips wrapped in a spiral wound coil and got over 10 amps if you short circuited it! And it was able to run a small DC motor for hours and was able to be recharged countless times.

    U can get higher volt than this by changing the electrolyte...
    Please u make a rechargeable battery similar to this.....thanks

    yo what kinda of capactity does it have ?

  • @tinkertuber
    @tinkertuber ปีที่แล้ว

    You can get higher capacitance if you using potassium hydroxide as electrolyte.

    does anyone know a simple battery chemistry that when charging, does not cause the electrolyte to slowly dissipate?
    looking to make something like "edison battery" but without the hassle of messing around with the electrolyte every week or two...

      @wwabete2009 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean "dissipate" Do you mean the electrolyte evaporating or spreading all over? If it is a question of spreading over then you can use hydrogels - gel electrolytes. If it is a question of evaporation, then think of using glycerol which can encapsulate the H2O very well. You have to experiment to know what quantity of PVA/PVAc or Glycerol offers the best electrochemical performance.

    dude use magnesium and carbon pair .............just you need cathode (carbon rod) from aaa 1.5 v battery and magnesium ribbon strip and cotton dip with salt water ....just place it in between carbon and magnesium ribbon ....the whole setup is sp cute and tiny but works better then Mg and Cu
