  • In Texas a birth mother must wait 48 hours before she can legally place her child for adoption. We had the honor and privilege of documenting a hopeful adoptive family AND a brave birth mother during those 48 hours.
    These 48 hours changed who we are and how we view adoption. Please share this story with anyone and everyone as we believe it will save lives and move people's hearts.

    The adoptive parents are great throughout this whole thing, and birth mom is brave to give the baby such opportunity. I wish my parents would love me this much

    Love the birth mom’s humanity! I’ve had 4 miscarriages & 1 healthy birth. I think about all my babies & carry that weight that some are missing as I see our child reach milestones. She will miss her son but the adoptive parents seem like wonderful people & she’ll know her baby is ok.❤️

    This amazing young lady is so strong and courageous!
    She loved her baby so much that she wanted him to have the life he deserves, even if it means breaking her own heart by giving him to parents that could provide him a better life than she could.

    It takes a birthmom to care more about her baby than herself to be given up to adoption. I’m adopted and blessed that my birthmom cared more about myself than herself, my husband and I also adopted after 10 years of doctors, IVF, and adoption agencies Of uncertainty. My beautiful daughter is now 25 and my husband and I couldn’t have made the perfection that god gave us through someone else. May god bless your son, his birth mom, and yourselves as parents ❤️🙏🏼

    This is a beautiful story! My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting our 1st son. God has been in this story & and is now in our story as well. I see how God has beautiful ways of making families.
    I have had the privilege of knowing my son to be born son's birth mother & she has allowed me to be at every Dr.'s appointment and has also asked me to be there with her during labor. God is so good!

    Such a brave, beautiful woman to choose life for her child. I've watched this several times over the years and am reminded anew of God's great plan for everyone involved. I loved how she knew she would never have regrets over choosing life but would always have regrets if she'd not allowed him life. What a gift.

    I know the feeling of getting my first baby. I felt so grateful for her mother. She refused to put her thumb prints on her birth certificate. Her mother came came to Brownsville from Mexico to have her. I tell them their mother grew under their hearts but I grew them in mine.

    Do you think 48 hours is enough for such a life changing decision . I really hope moms have more time with their babies without being pushed ..

    • @tabithawolf6077
      @tabithawolf6077 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Prior to the 48 hours, they’ve already made an adoption plan.
      Also, before they sign they have lawyers counsel them and go over the papers to make sure they understand what they are signing.
      The point I’m trying to make is that they have multiple chances to change their mind. They can change their mind even as they have the pen in their hand.
      Also, some birth Moms do not want to see the baby at all whereas you have some who can tell the adopted parents that they do not want them at the hospital at all until after she signs away her rights.
      Believe it or not, birth moms have a lot of power before signing.

    What is talked about very little is the fact that once the baby is passed to the adoptive parents the birth mother is rarely given any support. Sadly, it is very traumatic for many birth mother's and they never, ever get over giving their child up. It is thought that most birth mother's are drug addicted poor women and nothing could be further from the truth. Birth mother's need more support. Many would prefer to raise their child themselves but due to lack of support, they feel they can't and many feel backed into a corner of having no choice. I believe that a birth mother should be required to have 10 days with their child after birth before making her final decision...just to make sure she is making the right decision for her and her child. If you have ever seen someone close to you go through this, you would realize how difficult this decision is and that birth mother's should be given more support as they go through this.

      The agency's and adoptive parents give birth mom's money for three months for rent clothes and food. Adoption is suppose to be good but adoptive parents get more support before a baby and after

    I know it’s been 6 yrs, but I’m just now seeing this and I’m very happy that Dominique was able to find a loving family for her son. I’m so glad that she didn’t choose abortion and instead chose adoption. Adoption is a beautiful thing. While I have never formally adopted children, I have informally adopted lots of children throughout my life and will continue to do so because everybody deserves someone to love them. God loved us first, so I chose to love others as he has loved me.

    Either way I'm thanking God for Dominique's bravery in carrying Everett to term and to love him so much to give him to a loving home.

    I don't think it's right, the mother needs more time to make such a decision, immediately after giving birth it's cruel and unfair, the adoptive parents should have given her more time and said we understand everything, you have the right to change your decision, it's your child and not to think only about yourself and their desire to be parents.

  • @ytbmomhealing
    @ytbmomhealing 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is so wrong. 48 hours is not enough time to make a PERMANENT decision of lifelong severance. The child experiences profound trauma from infant/mother separation that early. We don’t even allow puppies to be separated from their mother until 6 weeks - which developmentally is like 42 weeks for a human.
