Not only in China, but also in Japan! Toshio Tasaki, Masato Watanabe, Kunifumi Tasei were all great short-pips penholder played in the 00’s. Going back to 70’s, there’s 1977 World Champion Mitsuru Kouno. Don’t see professionals (especially international players) these days, but not something extremely rare in the amateur competitions. In fact, shakehand grip with short pips on the forehand side is rarer.

Hey Coach, I find your videos very informational and enjoyable. I was wondering if you have any thoughts on butterfly’s new Dignics 09c? Do you think this rubber will be a good European alternative to hurricane 3?
Can you make a video series of what are the different styles of playing table tennis? Because many players only know penhold, offensive, and defensive playstyle and other playstyle might be forgotten in the future.

My training centre in Singapore also have short pimple J penholder. There is a guy who uses shakehand long pimple on forehand side.

I am naturally a penholder..
But all this time I've been wrong to learn the technique of hitting the forehand topspin..
I always hit the ball at the highest point to execute topsin..
I just realized that this is wrong and it is very difficult to change this muscle memory..
Should I use short pips to improve my ball quality?
I played with RPB and had no problems and it felt very natural to me..
I just changed trainers and he told me to change my grip to a shakehand..
It feels a little weird and my backhand quality is far from when I played penhold..
But the quality of my forehand topsin is much better than when I hold the penhold..
I can do more topspin on the forehand side..
Should i change into shakehand or keep on my penhold grip?

Sir, I would like to ask you about boosting. I read your instruction about how to use booster. I use DHS H3 neo prov Blue sponge 40°. I used it 2 days without booster but thick glue. Now, I want to boost it use haifu seamoon. Should I put 1 layer direct to the sponge only, or remove the old glue then reglue with thin layer of glue then 2 layers of haifu seamoon?

Hi ! It honestly depends on your preference. For example, when I trained with an ex-National Chinese Coach, he recommended applying the oil immediately over the old glue layer and leaving it, then just apply a fresh glue layer to the blade, dry and attach 👍
i dont think it is very rare . liu guoiang and another penholder played this style before they found the new grip which it help them to play rpb easier than before

@@manulammers she's more block and attack with LPs than chop. but PH LP is a wonderful style. i tried it for a while but it didn't really fit in with everyone else's training and i was kind of making it up as i went along with nobody to help me formulate strategies. but i still have a bat that i bring out for fun every once in a while

I'm penholder SP RPB and there are only a few pro players with this style....anyway you can find them: Wang Zengyi (Poland), Jesus Cantero (Spain), Ju Migwei (USA, I'm not sure if he is pro but has a very nice style) Yang Sheng (China), is very difficult find information about this style, about the blade or pimples. I found 2 young japanese player really good in youtubre but the videos are in japanese. To me the best of all times is Liu Guoliang but there are not many videos of him because in the 90 youtube didn't exist and I still I cannot see the Atlanta Olimpics Games...

Great video! But not only China... for example Shimizu Hiroki and in the 90s there are few jpen that use SP. Other Chinese penhold player with SP is Wang Zeng Yi, I suppose he is currently active yet.
