@@chemistryka14not going to lie being a pilot myself the tejas is indeed a failure because it’s often called the confused mirage 2000 it’s still underdeveloped so it may be the best fighter and indigenous aircraft FOR INDIA. but if a major threats such as an american f/a-18 super hornet comes the LCA is dead

the role of HAL Tejas is of an interceptor aircraft not to perform cross border air superiority missions or attack missions,just like mig 21 which it is replacing,Tejas would be a front line interceptor
and I think you must know the fact that even China,our adversary also started with weaker platforms like j8 from which they've evolved their machines to reach the levels of j16,j20 and j31
Its important to support indigenous platforms when we're starting off slow

The tejas is a huge flop, instead of wasting money, the Indian airforce should try to get the Americans to sell their F15s, which the Israeli are using, maybe send Indian pilots to train in Israel, Sweden too has good plane, also the British typhoons, because the Chinese are building their airforce, India has very limited time to catch up
