  • The interaction started at the strategic levels about China’s multiplicity of objectives with surely differing priorities. When Taiwan and South China Sea are brought into focus how far is China likely to opt for a major operation against India. It’s possibly that China wants to subdue India and ensure Indians don’t interfere if China opts for a higher priority objective.
The Galwan experience offered some superb lessons. One of them was that our forces were too focussed westwards; not adequately North to face the greater threat. This fixation with Pakistan has been largely corrected, now. Indians have adequate forces posted/ tasked to defend the northern borders.
The adequacy of Indian surveillance capabilities also came under the lens. We fell short in building the strategic picture and gauging Chinese intent. The issues have been extensively addressed by both induction of more modern surveillance platforms and improving tactical intelligence gathering capabilities.
Tanks were inducted in Eastern Ladakh. However, a tank like the T 72/ T 90 is not the best equipment at such high altitudes. A light tank is also being developed and would be a better fit for operations in high altitudes.
We have also to beef up our fire power delivery means to include artillery, air and missiles. We need to have a far higher percentage of precision ammunition available. The same holds good for Drones.
Guest: Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma (Retd). The officer retired as the Adjutant General of the Indian Army. He is a well-known strategist and speaker in reputed forums.

An excellent and educative discussion. Precise & long-range target acquisition; neutralising with drones seems to have replaced missiles. Drone warfare appears to be more economical. Is the target acquisition through a satellite? How did the Iron Shield of Israel stop at long range.

Till now the oppposition and public do not exactly what happened in galwan valley and incidents leading to the clashes.
Modi refused to discuss it in parliament and giving one sided story to the nation that no indian soil lost
Some reports are saying indians lost some 2000 sq km land in ladakh in 2020 aggression
