  • After leaving our Sea of Galilee boat ride, we went up to Mount of Beatitudes. The prettiest place we had been so far. Getting off the bus, we were all struck with the sound of melodious harmonies as birdsong filled the air and feelings of tranquility from the expansive view of the Sea of Galilee below us. Walking the path through the colorful and lush gardens, we noticed blocks of stone, marking the Blessings of the Beatitudes. As we sat down to listen to Andre tell us about where we were, I saw bright green parrots 🦜 flying amongst the palms. And I thought surely Jesus tells us that heaven holds such beauty beyond what we can even imagine. And I was awestruck .
We were encouraged to read and reflect on Matthew Chapter 5.
Way too soon we were being “Yalla(ed)” back to the bus, and soon we arrived at the ruins of Korazim National Park.
““Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Korazim ( Corazin ) is of the cities that Jesus cursed for rejecting him. The ruins sit high in the hills about the Sea of Galilee, a short distance from the Mount of Beatitudes. Built from the volcanic rock of the area, the ruins include one of seven ancient synagogues found. It dates from the 3 rd century AD. In this synagogue, was found the only seat of Moses to have been excavated.
“In Jesus’ day, the teachers of the law and Pharisees continued in the footsteps of Moses in that they were the interpreters and enforcers of the law. In that way, they are said to “sit in Moses’ seat.” They may not have held the same official position or authority as Moses, but they still had a great deal of authority in Israel at the time. If someone wanted to know what Moses would say about something, he would consult an expert in the Law of Moses-a Pharisee or a teacher of the law. What Moses said was binding, so anyone who was in the position to tell people what Moses said was himself in a position of great authority.
In Matthew 23, Jesus points out that, even though what these leaders say may be correct, they do not practice what they preach. So Jesus tells the people to listen to what they say and respect their position, but not to follow their example. With this instruction, Jesus honors Moses, the law, and spiritual authority even as He confronts the hypocrisy of the teachers and interpreters of the law.”

It was here we ran into another American Tour group, one of only two we would see in Israel.
After exploring these ruins, Bero, our expert bus driver, drove us to Magdala were we were introduced to Israeli “fish and chips” called Peter’s Fish Lunch. It was definitely different but very enjoyable.
Another shout out to Stephen and Jamie Galiano for the ise of their photos.
Next video- Tabgha (The Primacy of St Peter) and Capernaum!
