The Spit along with eastern block planes uses air brakes. Be careful pumping or you will deplete your air reserve before engine driven pump can replace. Its NOT a hydraulic syste.

I wonder how hard it was for the RAF to scramble spits if we have to go through all these steps

During the height of battle of britain many inexperienced pilots did mess up, however experienced pilots had them do as much flightime as possible.
Problem was that training pilots while at the same risking being ambused by german fighters also took many lives.

So glad to see it's not just me having these 'wandering Spit' issue. I use Saitek pro pedals & still can't get the tail wheel aligned straight once on the runway. always have to adjust once moving for takeoff initially. Waiting to see if you have the take off roll left & hit the ground thing. mostly happens to me when using the Russian spits on instant mission practice, even with a decent amount of right rudder trim & slight right aeleron as i've seen advised by some pilots, bioth historical & dcs simmers. Love your vids & recommend them often to fellow flyers as a pointer to what can be achieved in dcs, & for the entertainment factor. love it Cap. not able to afford Patreon at present. hopefully in near future. GR T's would be a great product. keep it up guys!

      Hi Nicholas,
Regards the "take off roll left & hit the ground thing". Get the tail up during the takeoff run. Can't stress this enough. The veer left flip over and crash is a full on stall; you're leaving the runway in ground effect; it's an aerodynamic effect both a blessing and a curse. Gives you a lift boost if you're low level (within about a wingspan of your aircraft in altitude) but once you leave that zone it disappears.
What's happening is you are lifting off whilst in that zone at an airspeed not high enough to sustain the lift as soon as you climb out of it; result = stall!
My advice is to lift the tail and keep her on the main wheels on the takeoff roll till you get to 100mph IAS, then lift off very slowly and make sure you climb through that GE boundary gradually and with more airspeed.
      Hope this helps.

So it's like the mig 21. You gotta pump/brake to turn.

Thanks for the video Cap! By the way,
if you had a classic car, you'd probably have a "choke" control AKA primer. I use the choke in my 70s Ford Cortina every morning!

Cap, students may never taxi faster than a dead man can walk. Instructors however may taxi as fast as a deer can run.

Agreed. Start with Flaming Cliffs (FC3) plane(s). I have a video on key/jpystick set up in the education playlist. Enjoy.

I think Fortinaero or Fortistan sound better then the feminine, for a new country.
