Fantastic performance... as all Tchaikovsky's symphonies recorded by karajan. Both maestros.

This is an underrated masterpiece for which the young Tchaikovsky laboured so much time and power. But how beautiful it is, especially the magnificent second movement, which is almost of eternal serenity and beauty. Thank you so much for sharing.

This is my all-time favourite Tchaikovsky symphony and I do like the second movement most of all, which is in E Flat Major, especially the beginning of the movement where the strings comes in first, before other instruments followed and reminds me like a wintry night in the forest. Also, I do like the third movement, which is in C minor and reminds me like Mozart [Tchaikovsky`s favourite composer, of course]. The final movement, in which we go from G minor to G major and above all, a terrific ending with a vigorous coda. I love this Tchaikovsky symphony so much and beautifully performed throughout,

More than "nice." This is one of the best out there, the other truly great one also being on DG, Michael Tilson Thomas and the Boston Symphony.

Yes, but if you want to hear the finest performance of this remarkable symphony listen to Evgeny Svetlanov/Russian State S.O. (Y.T.) which is not only the best conducted but also has the best audio quality.

"Winter Daydreams" is a better translation of the name of the first movement.
Non ho mai capito i commenti di critici musicali atti a sminuire la validità artistica di questa sinfonia, tacciata di immaturità e poca coerenza formale. Sarò pazzo, ma è la mia sinfonia preferita di Ciaikowsky
Un po' pazzo lo sei senz'altro. 😉Ma il secondo movimento della Prima è bellissimo: diretto da Karajan con i Berliner, poi...

Yeah, you're kind of right - 🤨 who knows _what_ the photograph of Tchaikovsky is covering up, not to mention that it has (seemingly) _nothing_ to do with "winter dreams" or a winter theme in general. 🙄 Lol
