And even then, he looks like a nice, respectful young man, so I probably would've ran a check on him and if he hadn't gotten any tickets lately, I would've let him off with a warning.

If he had actual power he would have ordered the lower ranking socalled whyte cop to apologize to him and to his son. He should have grilled him and got an answer to what makes his son "look suspicious". I have to say that it goes BOTH ways. I am white and have been treated just as badly by white cops. Been pulled over in a rich neighborhood by a white cop, 4 other units pulled up for little ol me, had my hands on the back of my car, and never got an apology. Said I was pulled over because there was a report of a missing weedeater in the area. I was in an older Camaro, where was I going to hide this weedeater? I was treated better by the black cop that showed up than the 3 other ones. It was because my car wasn't as expensive as it should have been to be on that side of town. Color doesn't matter, it's the person inside and how they perform their job.

As soon as it started I noticed that. I never heard of a rookie police officer start out with the rank of Sergeant. In many places like the bigger cities the rookie would be the Sergeant's driver. Now I'm not saying that BS doesn't happen with the police I encountered it when I bought my 2nd Mustang at the age of 49. I had an officer yelling at me to put my hands on the wheel one night and then make a remark to the effect of wanting to search the car and then get an attitude, since he didn't want to deal with me in cuffs while they searched the car and my 80 pound dog who was asleep in the back seat. He was a total dickhead when another officer told him that the dog was in the back seat watching the goings on. He had to say aww do you bring your doggie everywhere you go? My response was yes as a matter of fact I do, officer. Then he didn't want to believe that I was in fact 49. It wasn't the finest hour of police interactions for me, but I know that there are worse for others. He was looking for a reason to rough me up. Had it not been for the dog I can't imagine how it would have gone.
