I discovered Diana a while back and am still amazed at her tonal quality, she has an unusually beautiful voice. She has a mesmerizing voice. You catch her at a good time because she has an original single coming out this month and her first album is scheduled to come out in her birth month of May in which she turns 18. This isn't even her most mind-boggling performance. Rechenka is her most iconic performance and showcases her vocal agility in a neo-tribal Russian folk song and working yodeling techniques into modern music.
Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003. She participated in the TV project "You are super!" in 2018 with the songs "Derniere danse" (French), "It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (English), “The River” (Russian), “Tomorrow Is A Lie” (English) and won. In 2019, she repeated the success, won the Grand Prix on the TV show "You are super! Superseason." with the songs "Blizzard" (Russian), "Wicked Game" (English), "Human" (English). Recordings of Diana's performances on the show "You're super!" posted on TH-cam (copyright of the NTV channel). Diana continues her career as a pop singer, gives concerts in Russian cities, studies at the State Institute of Theater Arts. Diana Ankudinova has an official Internet channel on TH-cam. I first encountered Diana about 3 years ago. When she was 14 years old was when she found her voice! she had been singing for years before but at 14 found herself with help from Igor. I have been a huge fan since!
Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. If you like stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14. It is a Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her mother's blessing for her marriage. Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.
On the screen you can see the inscription - "Live sound". All participants sing only in live voices - this is a condition of the competition. Diana perfectly knows the technique of yodel, for her voice switching as easy as breathin She is a singer with incredibly velvet contralto, the range grows with her. Abandoned at 3 with a broken arm in Russian winter by an alcoholic mother, she didn't speak for years from the trauma. Her adoptive mother put her in singing classes in an attempt to get her to open up. And now we get to be blessed by this goddess.

Диана это чудо, но это чудо мы могли ни когда не услышать если бы не ее мама, не хочу употреблять слово приемная, которая вложила свою душу в эту девочку это именно она решила что Диана должна заниматься вокалом так как до пяти лет Диана не могла разговаривать и за того что особь которая ее родила чуть не убила ее. Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel and other techniques from classical singing and opera..). The one that seems to amaze you the most is the polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result.
This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6!
This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old.
In this shows Diana is directing, arranging and preparing her performances herself. She's a real creator.
In addition, her costumes are designed and sewn by her mother and grandmother since she was 5.

I discovered Diana a while back and am still amazed at her tonal quality, she has an unusually beautiful voice. She has a mesmerizing voice. You catch her at a good time because she has an original single coming out this month and her first album is scheduled to come out in her birth month of May in which she turns 18. This isn't even her most mind-boggling performance. Rechenka is her most iconic performance and showcases her vocal agility in a neo-tribal Russian folk song and working yodeling techniques into modern music.

I first encountered Diana about 3 years ago. When she was 14 years old was when she found her voice! she had been singing for years before but at 14 found herself with help from Igor. I have been a huge fan since!

Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. If you like stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14.
It is a Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her mother's blessing for her marriage.
Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

Abandoned at 3 with a broken arm in Russian winter by an alcoholic mother, she didn't speak for years from the trauma. Her adoptive mother put her in singing classes in an attempt to get her to open up. And now we get to be blessed by this goddess.

Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto type. Dimash is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... and when you hear her voice you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic.
Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana sang 'Yodel-Time' th-cam.com/video/vKdvaWsd91Q/w-d-xo.html but none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018/19, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international competition instead of "You are Super", especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.
