Smile comes from his tribute album Nat King Cole & Me. Perhaps the best-known version comes from Nat King Cole. What is less well-known is that the song was composed by Charlie Chaplin for the film Modern Times (as instrumental, lyrics were added later when Nat King Cole recorded the song). Even Michael Jackson sang it and his brother Jarmaine sang it at his funeral. I'm glad you liked the song. For me, Porter is one of the best, if not the best living jazz singers, I love his music and his collaborations. His music belongs in a record collection. I've had him on my suggestion list in the past (not this song), so a suggestion for Jazz Week was a natural choice. I would have actually bet that you would choose Candy Dulfer because I know you like female saxophonists. By the way, I've revised my pop and classical suggestion list once again and for good. I don't know if you've seen it.
