Exposing Corruption at Northdale Sanitary District - Brownfield Project best hope for recovery.

Watch as I tell my story of corruption at the Northdale Sanitary District in Black Hawk, South Dakota. I was Superintendent of the District between December 13, 2023 and July 7, 2024. The current Board President, Cotty Hayes, has engaged in everything from mismanagement of the District's infrastructure, failure to investigate embezzlement of $2m, mismanagement of contractors, promissory estoppel, violations of state bidding laws and has been overbilling for his time in violation of state laws. For those unfamiliar with our community issues, an underground mine collapsed in April 2020, causing the evacuation of a dozen homes. Lawsuits ensued which were eventually dismissed. The residents are seemingly without an option for recovery.
Work I was leading would have brought a recovery for the residents as a Brownfields Project. Northdale Sanitary District has opted to conceal the environmental hazards found during studies it funded in support of the Brownfields initiative. Worse yet, it has failed to continue the work... or even compensate the contractors who did the work.
Rather than litigate the Sanitary District and allow their attorney yet more opportunity to overbill his work ($25k for May 2024 alone!), I have opted to expose their corruption to the public and allow our Democratic processes to figure this out. Democracy dies in darkness. Board President Hayes hasn't allowed so much as the minutes be released.
Please keep this community in your prayers. Numerous residents have requested I join the Sanitary District Board. If elected, cleaning up these matters will certainly be my primary agenda while simultaneously ensuring the ability of the Sanitary District to meet the immediate water and sewer needs of the community.
