- Things don't always go as planned.....in fact they often don't goes as planned! We started this trip as our family vacation to the beach....Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula! We arrived late on Sunday evening. Watching the weather we knew there was a tropical storm moving towards norther Mexico and the southern tip of Texas; however, we were north of Galveston....no problem right....wrong. On Monday morning the surf was up a bit but we enjoyed a pleasant day at the beach. By Monday evening the surf was looking a bit angry and the updated weather forecast was showing the storm making landfall at Galveston which was only a 45 min ferry ride from our location. We received notification from the gold cart rental company on Tuesday morning that they needed to pick up the golf cart and all employees were leaving the island in order to prevent being stuck there. We contacted the owner of our rental property and they advised that if we chose to stay, we would most likely be stranded on the island for about 3 days and the possibility of no electricity was likely. So we made the hard decision to abandon our vacation and head home.
As an alternative plan we decided to see if we could get camping reservations for the remainder of the week. We found an open spot at Lake Brownwood and headed there. Our grandson Kase tagged along. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable remainder of the week hiking and boating!!
Thanks for tagging along with us!
