Hands down one of the best restorers I have seen, going just far enough to make it sound and look right without crossing the line also using period correct and appropriate hardware with the pieces is only something that can be done by someone who takes the time and care to collect and save all of these items and nothing something that is done overnight. I can’t tell you enough how much I love what you do.
Great joy to see something old, relegated and forgotten being brought back to life. One hundred years more of life for sure. Thank you for sharing the artistry of your trade. Cheers
I am so enjoying your work on so many levels!!! The pieces you work on are so evocative of a time when furniture was made to be used and passed down! Can you imagine what they would think of today's Ikea style disposable furniture 😖 You too must despise the guick delivery and short life span of mass produced furniture! Thank you for showing us the window into great craftmanship!! Your skills are exemplary good sir!!!!
I'm amazed at these old pieces you find. I'm from the western USA, where "old" is 75 years old. Lol. I could really use some captions at each stage. I spend most of the time wondering what you're doing, and then figure it out after you've finished that part. Also, captions would be helpful to explain any history, any unique methods of construction, in what ways you have to be extra careful, are you using old wood to replace certain areas, what is typical of that time and area, etc. You are a master!
thank you very much for your kind words. My videos are not instructional videos but intended for my customers who buy this furniture. - But you can ask me questions. I will try to answer them. 😀
Your work is amazing congratulations I just love your work. Here in America we have an individual named Thomas Johnson antique furniture restoration. He too is really great, amazed at those who love there craft so much.
Essa peça é bem antiga, e NAS SUAS MÃOS FICARÁ MAGNIFICA COM SUA RESTAURAÇÃO. VC É UM RESTAURADOR FANTÁSTICO 👏🎇👏👏👏👏🎇🎇🎇🎇 PARABÉNS 👏 SUCESSO 👏 SEMPRE 🎇👏👏🎇🎇🎇👏👏👏🎇🎇🎇
Completely beautiful! Can you tell us what the original paint is bound with, that it does not dissolve in paint stripper? Is the binder animal glue? Thank you.
The original binders were the things you had on the farm. eggs, beer, sugar, flour. But be careful! They can also be removed with the stripper. You need the right exposure time and the right temperature and a lot of feeling. Sometimes it's just not possible for me to remove the topcoat
@@Restaurierung Thank you for the information! It's a very good reminder that all the elements of folk furniture (and folk art) vary from maker to maker, and don't conform to the "rules" necessarily 😊
It would be great for you to show the tools you are using to recreate the hand painting. For example, the tool you used to create the scrolling at 17:19.

Great job and interesting piece! Thank you!
I thank you for watching
Sehr gutes Ergebnis.

It would be great for you to show the tools you are using to recreate the hand painting. For example, the tool you used to create the scrolling at 17:19.
This is a steel comb. But you can also use a normal comb for the hair and cut it to the desired size
Question. Why doesn’t the folk painting get taken off when you strip the over painting?
It's a special technique that has a few things to consider. You need some experience for that.
