This is the kind of sound you can hear from a kilometer away or more. Hearing these taiko at city festivals, even with the tall buildings and traffic, it pulls you towards them, it's really primal. The sound is really incredible. You can feel it in your lungs and ribs even from a block away.
This is the kind of thing you have to witness live. You can feel the energy they put into their drumming and being a halfbreed I felt a sense of honor and pride when I got to see it performed live at an event in NYC
Oh my Gosh!!!!!!!!!!! If this video doesnt make chills down your spine, nothing will! This is the most impressive display of Japanese Drums and done so well! No joke, this is the most excellent Ive heard. Bravo!
I did Taiko on Sado Island, Japan a few weeks ago. The instructor was amazingly funny and crazy, perfect for the job. He was a complete goofball, but a master at Taiko nonetheless. He was 53 years old and he was screaming and jumping everywhere! :D Amazing experience.
i remember a group of Taiko drummers came to my old primary school many years ago... and demonstrated them in the school hall!!! was the most deafening thing i had ever heard!!! brilliant!!!
I loved the performance :). It really shows the amount of strength and discipline they must have to create such a wonderful sound. I really hope the children learned a lot from their experience. I would love to see this performance live. I think it would be a very powerful and meaningful experience for your mind and heart. Something you'll always remember.
there are native americans who also drum our drum is made of hide from a Moose or Deer, there is a strong bond with our people and yours when i listen to this its powerful just like ours. our drum is the heart beat of the earth and the people.
can you imagine an evening, the moon is full, and it is the night before the Samurai go to war with the rising sun. The drums are beating and you can hear them throughout the forest........
I cant put words on expression when I first heard this drums in a festival called Bon Odori held in Malaysia.. the Koto Drummers were Shocking as well as Beautiful. I wish I can hear it again Live.
If life is a drum and we all march to the beat of a different drum..... I’m very happy to see the drums of life attacked and beaten! Very moving!!! Blessings!🙏🏼
This is unbelievably awesome. Such stamina and skill and the discipline it took is so inspirational. Magnificent!!! I love Taiko!!! Thank you so much for recording and sharing!!!
Saw KODO, THE taiko drummers several years ago, and the energy they generated was absolutelty unbelievable. I have no problem admitting I was reduced to tears at one point !
These have to be the WORLD'S GREATEST!!! drummers. 👏👏👏👏👍 when the Japanese play these HUGE drums they play with such passion, strength & consistency! 😮😱👏👏👏👏👏👍
Ive seen these things live and hearing it through your computer speakers or headphones does not do them justice. You can literally feel the sound in your chest and its very empowering. Youd need a high quality surround sound system and powerful bass to get close to the experience. Even then it wouldnt be the same.
you enjoy traditional japanese drum work then go check out my friends Wagakki Band you will totally enjoy watching Kurona and Wasabi and Asa and Suzu and Kiyoshi and Michaya and Daisuke and Beni bring japanese culture back to the people...
@Ghrimvixon Ive seen it live once; at a holiday festivel at Fasion Island. I was just lucky. This doesn't do it justice. They had a mostly female team with a male 'backup' lead by a modern Samuri. You could feel it from the ground. I've never heard anything so intense. It shook my very core. Every single cell in my body could feel it. Not some flimsy new age meditation; but THUNDER that seemed to reach to heaven and tear open the sky. I think my viking ancestors...I think it changed me.
These guys are athletes. Saw a documentary about the school they go in. For the first 2 years , they do not play the drums at all. Thay train like they would in a martial art school. The discipline of thee guys is incredible.
The volume of this drum may be measured with a shout of their best, and is known. Unbelievably they have struck the drum with might and main. In fact, the stick of that tree is also heavy. It is the physical strength not to be believed.
This kind of drum artistry (cause it is, totally) must have been inspirational to one of the performances that "Stomp Out Loud" show (at least in their DVD) I'm thinking of the one where they use, I think they're socks with knots, to hammer at some drum barrels which are constantly being lightly sprayed by water.

Music, artistry, athleticism - Awesome! Amazing, just amazing. I would love to see this live.
Atlanta holds a Japan Fest every year. The drummers are always an outstanding performance.

just imagine the vibrations you would be feeling
amazing as always.
This somthing you need to see live. The drums would have a lot power that one can not fill from most common speaker setups.
Love the cry at the end. Imagine the sound waves radiating through the place.
Got to see Japanese drummers in Disney World could have watch them for hours Thanks for posting.
such a concert made me instantly totally completely happy for more than a week *
There is only one thing more amazing and it is how this drums are made

To make that much sound with drums that big, that sounds about right.

I loved these in the Cavaliers 2008 show!
that was fantastic....you guys rock....
Ouvir isto ao vivo dentro de um teatro é uma experiencia espetacular que eu tive o prazer de presenciar aqui em Ipatinga MG Brasil.

Amazing
25% art 25% music 50% workout :D
Simply awesome.

It's the truth. The sound is amazing live.
FANTASTIC! EXCELLENT! BRAVO!
It's fascinating how these people turn every thing into a martial art... even drinking tea.
Man, I love taiko, but there is no way a compressed TH-cam video played off two tiny PC speakers can ever do it justice!
I wonder if they use Promark sticks "Neil Peart Signature". Seriously this is excellent
Playing these drums must be a hell of a workout!!!
this drumming is massaging my brain.
I'm Chinese but I love to watch Taiko so much.
This is the heavy metal for drums.....lol. Love it :-)
Simply amazing!!!!!!!!!

Who can dislike this? Seriously.
フォームがとてもきれいです。
I bet it takes some serious strength to do this, all these guys are ripped. I need to learn.
I'd like to try that too!
why would anyone dislike this?
@Ilamarea search for japanese drum crew Kodo. I guess you can buy their cds or songs online.
@shinystriker $4000 is for the smaller drums, the bigger ones called o-daiko can cost up to $100 000.
Awesome!!
Fantástic Taiko
The best sequence of warrior drums I've ever heard was in kurosawa's seven samurai
Soul speaking. Domo arigato gozaimasu.
Warrior music! Awesome!
Great performance!
I was waiting for the part where a drumstick flew out of someone's hand by drumming so hard but it never happened. These guys really are pros :)
I love this
Wow! Amazing.
I feel like every sushi bar should have them playing in the background while they cook the seafood!
