    Your Blue Streak is a 1974 model, based on the bolt handle having a drilled-out ball and serial # you gave. Congratulations!

    As a teenager in the 1970's, those Sheridan Blue Streak rifles were considered exotic by those of us who had the Crosman, and other makes of airguns. I now own and shoot a 1977 Sheridan Blue Streak, and with .20 caliber JSB's, they really make for splendid accuracy. I had to dig through several power levels of reading glasses to be able to focus on the front sight. Stick with the 3 pump power level you mentioned earlier. The black plastic item you mentioned, was so the shooter had a better purchase (grip) on the rifle during pump up procedure, especially when wearing winter gloves and mittens. In dialing in the rear sight, it can be a bit fiddly, but once dialed in, will produce decent accuracy. I use my Weihrauch airguns with scopes for squirrels, but this Sheridan really slams bean tins with substantial authority! You have a wonderful find! Cheers from south of Houston, Texas!

    I have my grandfathers Sheriden Silver Streak in .20 caliber. It did need the barrel solder joint repaired, and I sent it off to Baker Airguns here in Ohio where I live. They repaired the weld joint, and can't even see any discoloration, they re-sealed the entire gun, and it works flawlessly. I also purchased to Benjamin 392 with the wood stock before they stopped making them and gave one to my son. They all shoot great and are a ton of fun that take you back to your childhood days. My Silver Streak shoots the JSB .20 caliber / 13.73 grain very accurately. Give them a try.

    Love it. After many Airsporters I bought a Crosman 140. Mid 1965 I think. A new world opened up. Could hit things at long distances. Always wanted a Sheridan, silver or blue either would do. Good one.

      Got a 766 in 78 as well. Teamed up with a 4x20 scope I hit virtually everything I aimed at. Then I started buying airgun magazines and believed all the bull that my gun wasn't that great and you had to have a venom tuned gun or the like

    I am the proud first (and only) owner of one of those Blue Streaks.
    The one and only pellet gun i have ever owned.
    I bought mine (new) in the mid 1980's.
    Don't know what i can tell you about it.
    The furniture on mine has.bit nicer grain, but it also has a few small dings in the wood. Mine's had quite a bit of use over these four decades.
    Still works well on the occasional varmint.

    what a lovely rifle. They are very powerful for their size and weight but slow to pump to full power. 3 pumps is enough for target practice and very accurate.
    I think the plastic thing was a grip that was supposed to make it easier on the palm of the hand when pumping.

    My first airgun was a Crosman 766 (43 years ago this month, on my 16th birthday), the 2100 was an 'updated' version of it with the Remington Nylon 66 styled trigger guard reshaped, ironic as I happen to own a Remington branded 2100. The 2200 was different, it had the hump-backed receiver, and they had a blow-off valve to vent air and keep them below the limit, the 766 and 2100 didn't due to the less efficient .177 calibre. The wooden stocked 2200 was called the Model 1 and was meant to be a bit more upmarket with it's williams rear sight. Which brings me to the Sheridan you have. Williams did a peep-sight for the Sheridans, can't remember if it needed drilling and tapping to fit. The plastic which split was where you were meant to grip the rifle while pumping it and was a hand guard (it's far easier to pump with your arms pushing directly together than with one on the pistol grip, quieter too), it only needed removing to fit the Sheridan scope rails. Sheridans main rival was the Benjamin pump ups, which were similar but only available in .177 and .22 calibre. Sheridan also did a CO2 version of the Streak rifles, and a CO2 pistol.

    Put the hand guard back on, and don't mount a scope. You don't want barrel separation caused by the extra stress on the soldered barrel joint. I have both books on the Sheridan. I highly recommend them. I have many Sheridans ranging from 1957 - 1985. They are all excellent. You can't have just one! Thanks for your very informative videos.

    Very elegant air-rifle. Those Sheridans were let down by their ‘flying dustbin’ .20 pellets. Somewhere in an AGW there was mention of Daystate making a pellet sizer that would drop a .22 Wasp down to .20 .. which would give excellent groups. With modern 5mm pellets a clean barrel and smooth regular pumping and firing routine that thing ought to be excellent. Triggers are a bit crude but good enough. If that’s a French one it won’t have been neutered so should give high power. Dust-bins beware!

    You could buy these guns from home shopping catalogues like Kays and Peter Craig and pay for them monthly. I never did and still regret it. I think the Sharp Ace is a better looking gun though.

  • @williampratt1066

    The black plastic part was there to make pumping more comfortable and to reduce stress where the barrel is soldered to the pump tube, Sheridan recommended no more than 8 pumps, (4 to 5 is usually sufficient), I think Benjamin acquired Sheridan in the 1990s, every collection needs at least one pump pneumatic😊

  • @mrmactknife
    @mrmactknife 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    My uncle bought one of these in the 1980's, I believe he still has it, cracking little rifles. I'm sure the plastic thing you mentioned was intended for use as some kind of scope mount.

  • @airgunsofalaska
    @airgunsofalaska 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nice video! The Sheridans were never as popular as the Benjamin pneumatics here in the USA. One of my buddy’s used to shoot his Dad’s Sheridan and the pellets were really expensive and not as widely available. I could buy .177 and .22 pellets all over the place but he had to get the .20 yellow boxes at a gun store. Now those old boxes and pellets are worth a bunch of money.
    Sheridans were known to be higher quality than the Benjamin guns and they are worth a lot of money today. You have a nice gun and it is very desirable to collectors. I remember the one my friend had was difficult to pump up. Be careful with scopes as I’ve read that some mounts can cause the barrel to separate from the air tube. If it were mine I’d just shoot it with iron sights.

    The plastic is for pumping and to keep the oils from your hand to keep the barrel from rusting,that area is the ideal area to pump the gun

    Your rifle appears to have a smooth, flat-top receiver and a clip-on rear sight, which dates it from early 1968 to early 1971. Very nice, enjoy! (I have a 1964 and 1967, love them.)

    I have had three of those (one left with a Williams 5D-SH Receiver Peep Sight on it) The black plastic thing is a hand grip for pumping. The finish will rub off otherwise. That whole rife is made of brass. I saved and saved to finally upgrade my 760 to the blue streak. Still shoots great.

    I have a Blue Streak, Circa 1966, it was bought in the States, by the previous owner ( it is within UK limit ) great condition for age, I am a big fan of pump ups, Sheridan's were better made than Sharps of the day, your right practically tiring for plinking, but a thing of beauty, I missed buying a boxed Silver Streak boxed at a Airgun Fair, big regret 😊

    The clip on plastic shroud over the barrel was to protect the finish from sweaty palms during pumping. A mate of mine bought one in 1989. It was ok but the constant pumping soon took the shine off of ownership.

    Evening Nick, that was a rifle I lusted after many years ago , I believe (maybe wrong ) there was a Silver streak as well, regarding the plastic part you described it might be a scope mount, I believe it slipped over the barrel/chamber and the act of tightening the scope mounts on to the top rail secured the mount (my memory may be a bit fuzzy) Lovely gun 😁

    Protects the barrel when you pump it also. It is a highly regarded American pellet gun. I put thousands of pellets through one in the early sixties. Ron Elbe has written two books on the Sheridan air guns. You will be able to gain a lot of knowledge and when your rifle was made. Let me know if you can't find a copy.

    I have a Canyon 707 pump up rifle in 177, with a brass barrel. Not the most accurate rifle, I've never managed more than 7 pumps, which is shooting at about 740 f/sec if I recall. I used it a few times in the Sporting Air rifle comps at Worcester about 12 years ago . I bought it in South Africa about 1999.
