    Why is it such a convoluted way of going about things? Why is there no option to simply set the Quest to allow apps from other "vendors" and then you just plug it into your PC and drop and drag the apps into the Quest's app folder?

      @@TheLonelyViper I downloaded Pavlov to try on the Quest, LOVE IT on Steam VR, but I've not installed it on my Quest yet. Did you check out the video I posted last night? You can sideload Gun Club 3 VR it works even BETTER on the Quest than on the Oculus Go. There seems to be a tutorial that some people get stuck on because it tells you to "swipe to reload" and you can't, but I'm not sure how I got past it. I was messing around with my Xbox One S gamepad and that might be how? Someone said they got past it by pressing the B button on it, but then I also sideloaded SWAT last night (by the same devs) and I got past that part without using a gamepad, but I don't know how, maybe the tutorial timed out or ? All I know is I took off the Quest at that part to go get my gamepad and when I put it back on, before turning on the gamepad, the game was past the tutorial. HIGHLY RECOMMEND those 2 games!!!! They are AMAZING on the Quest! Let me know what you think! From the look of your channel should be right up your ally ;)

    This was immensely helpful for me, thank you. Nox was kind of buggy, but I followed along your other vids and was able to side-load DeathHorizon (I just tried it as it was the cheapest option which was fun looking). As you'd warned, some apps don't side-load successfully, or rather, don't work after being side-loaded. @@OPENPCreviewsSo yeah, I've followed along through your videos to: get NOX, use 3CToolbox to capture an apk, ensure ADB works, that it installs .apks, and I can find the .apk in 'Unknown Sources'. I have a Quest btw, and I am curious how an .apk (DeathHorizon for example) could start, show a title page, and crash essentially. Basically, I start DeathHorizon and I get the title screen and it returns me to main menu of Quest without a crash report. I've uninstalled it via cmd prompt, and reinstalled it, after validating the process again (going back step by step) with the same result. You've had a lot of experience troubleshooting the sideloading process, can you share with me why that may be happening?
      My next step is to buy Minecraft, to go through the same process, and see if I'm able to run that since I know it works from your vids.

    I've been trying for some time to get this right. I've installed via Command Prompt and got a "Success" and I also installed via Sidequest and got "2048x.apk:APK file installed ok". And in all cases this results in extra icons on the Channels screen of TV. The problem is that they're all ineffectual - pressing them causes the screen to dim momentarily and then the full channel listing reappears with no change to resolution. I think I found a bug with sideloading apks to the quest. Each one should be listed under unknown sources, which was empty before I sideloaded vridge.apk but know I see all sorts of apps that I downloaded from the e-shop. When I try and load one of these from my library it fails. Very strange but seems to be tied to sideloading. Have you seen this on your quest?

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you are sideloading, if just normal Android apk files they will not show up under UNKNOWN SOURCES from Oculus Home, however if they support Android TV, they WILL show up under UNKNOWN SOURCES from inside Oculus TV. If they don't support Android TV, you'll need a third party launcher that you can run from Oculus TV like Sideload Launcher, or App Starter, or you can even use ES FILE Explorer or Kodi to launch any installed apk files from Oculus TV.
