you are right, i suffered a lot with intestinal/liver issues, gastritis, acidity and identified root cause as curd. When i left it i became normal. Even today after 10 yrs when i take curd i will get stomach pain. None of my friends believe it but my experience is based on facts.
You have an amazing attitude. Keep it up. I can 100% with you! Diluted yogurt works for me but never thick yogurt! I have to suffer for the next 3-4 days.
@drrekha Ma’am, Wonderful and Eye opening Information sharing on Curd, I have been looking this to get clarity since long how to take curd and when to take curd and butter milk, This will help me and lot many other people for sure. Ma’am, Please keep sharing such videos on other important foods, fruits too (Neem leaves, Moringa Leaves, Lemon, Amla, Dry fruits, Ghee, other important food items) …. That will help a lot. Ma’am we are with you, let people oppose the Truth will anyway going to wins….
Thank you so much doctor for such a detailed and fantastic explanation. I knew ayurveda does not consider curd good for digetion but never understood why. How about pazhankanji or fermented rice? Does that count us stale food? Also there is a lot of talk of having stale rice being good to reduce glycmic load as it gets converted to resistant starch. Would love to hear your thoughts on the same.
I totally agree with u ma'am u totally give new insight into ayurveda more so it is always supported by text reference so amazingly been ardent follow ers of ocean like knowledge recently I got treatment from your organization keep spreading the most wisdom of ayurveda in most holistic way rgds
The last statement is such a big relief, but thanks for the information. And also is there anything mentioned in texts about sweet Lassi? As in north india it is everyone's go to drink.
Dr if only I could give you a a big hug and say God Bless you always,!!!! If only more Drs like you are around!!!! You are a true gift from God to us human can you please tell how I can get in touch with you personally please . I am in Australia
I get arthritis flareups with curd, also bodyache and headache. I eat occasionally once in 5 or 6 months. Even with diluted buttermilk I get these symptoms.
Fully agree with you I hv watched other ayurvedic doctors who hv advised that curd is not too good n it is heaty not to b consumed in summer I too have got cured of mouth ulcers after I stopped eating curd rice which was the only option gvn by allopathic in case of mouth ulcers. I hv been cured n I fully voucher for it. I do eat curd but very rare.
Hi Rekha hi Yes, you are hundred percent right. I had spent over Thirty thousand pounds sterling with probiotics, tons of yogurts, including all kinds of procedures and I had not made any progress. I was like everyone else in thinking that yogurts or supplements of probiotics will help, but it took me a long time to realise that I & the doctor were wrong. I It all started 7 yrs ago when I was on holiday in India, I accidentally drank only half a glass of tap water. To date no one really knows what is really wrong with me. I am always on TH-cam with a hope that I will find something to cure or improve my microbiome. To date I have not succeeded. I had now decided to go sugar & gluten free. My biggest obstacle is that I suffer from food allergies and can only eat ripe bananas.
I tried what you said in the portions that you prescribed and yet no transparent liquid appeared no matter how fast I did it. The liquid was white. Froth? Yes. There is froth. I removed the froth and added the cumin powders and consumed the milky liquid. Is that OK?
In Ayurveda, curd is considered a cooling and nourishing food, but its properties can change when heated. Heating curd is generally discouraged because it can alter its natural qualities, making it harder to digest and potentially increasing its heating effects on the body.
I made and eaten homemade yogurt/curd for years, but in the last 5 years I have switched to making kefir as the process is much simpler. Usually I drink it in the morning with a couple of hard boiled eggs and dried fruit and with lunch. Occasionally I will have some yogurt that my wife bought to finish it up as its been sitting in the fridge too long and have noticed that my stomach has been a bit upset afterwards. Never gave it much thought until this video...🤔
Doctor this was a very informative video. Thank you so much for this. Can you throw some light on how consuming milk can affect one's gut health and whether one should have it regularly in the diet . It would be helpful if you can cover this thing in your next video.
But in my case Apollo Dr. Suggest me for lactobacillus tablet and told me to eat yogurt 😢😢 I was suffering from gardnerella vaginosis...so what should I do now ??? Should I stop taking probiotics and yogurt please suggest 😢
Hi Doctor Rekha, Can you please clarify on the curd that we get these days in packets, for example MilkyMist, even if you blend them in a blender, there is no fat part separated. In such cases can we consume the butter milk without having to separate the fat part as its not formed in the first place?
Please avoid branded packaged curd it is dangerous . It is better if you use fresh curd ( Halwai or Home made ) for making buttermilk. In Ayurveda। buttermilk is amrit but curd is abhishyandi meaning blocker of channels. It should not be very sour I am myself a patient of serious gut health issues for a very long period and saved by Ayurved. I am a CA read lot of books magzines on Ayurved and consulted Ayurvedic doctors. I practice yogasan also . Girish Agarwal
The kind of buttermilk you have told us to make is different from what we make in our house. We obtain butter by churning curd and then leftover liquid is buttermilk
I disagree. As a south indian vegetarian have seen my entire family into eating most of d dairy products on daily basis.. Milk, home made curd(masaru), majige(buttermilk), tuppa (ghee). benne (butter) and none of us really had any problems. Probably this is also coz of consuming them since birth. My eldest maasi is in her 80s and still going strong.

Still see challenges health wise dealing… Also concerned what to cook healthy, how to cook healthy for my little kids, but they keep their interest in junk food and school canteen foods which is like pizza, burgers, fries, cheese strings… my kids not eating vegetables even after so much effort… As per ayurveda how a cooking to be taken care? Ayurveda is not based on scientific research or any modern studies like we do in modern medicine. It is not wise to compare modern medicine with any of the pseudoscience alternatives to modern medicine. Trust and belief is one thing but reality is different. !

What r ur thoughts on heating curd?
Many recepies use curd and add it during the cooking process.
