So I have a 6.0 stroke to a 408 and I'm still running the oil dipstick all I did was put a spring from the bottom of the dipstick bracket to the top of the oil dipstick clamping it down works perfectly fine for us making close to 1500 hp
I've done that before but I just wanted to clean up the engine bay and I don't check the oil anyways. I just change it. There's nothing wrong with doing exactly what you said.
If i remember correctly my Goodwrench 350 4 bolt block has the dipstick port on both sides.but my buddy has used a bolt with rtv on it.or a wooden plug would work too lol
Nope. I'm not going to put a bunch of miles on this thing. I typically over fill it anyway. So when I feel like it needs an oil change, I'll just drain and refill. I'll try to keep an eye on oil consumption that way. Looking at the plugs will tell me a lot and the exhaust pipe.
@@DivineSpeed I was afraid of that. Got the engine from someone else and only noticed it after I installed the engine and tried putting the dip stick in.
So i have a lm4 that came out of a trailblazer, it has the dipstick in the oil pan. i am going to change the pan but i wonder if i can get away without running a dipstick? it's going in my 53 chevy belair.

Yeah I thought about doing the same thing but was concerned about the boost pressure blowing it out if it all went wrong.
Question: how will you know if your running low on oil? Any way to check since eliminating the dipstick?

I have an aftermarket pan with its own dipstick tube so this is perfect to block off the oe spot on the block
Someone used this to block off a block i bought from them. Is there a way to remove this?
You'll have to punch it out from the bottom. Take the pan off and hammer it out.

You can get away from running a dipstick but there's been a few times that I wish I had one.
Can I put them on my 4.6 engine
Are you asking about the dipstick plug or the chain setup?
