  • Harvest is almost here! Some very last minute maintenance on the trucks including cleaning the hopper trailers out. And I finally finished mowing the unwanted brush in our wetland habitat with the Batwing. 4 inch trees were no problem!

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I forget the brand name but the is a device made for dual tire setups that allows the driver to see the tire pressure at a glance, when pressure is within 5 pounds it shows green in the ball. On the side of it is a tire chuck so you can add air to both tires simultaneously. I've driven a truck so equipped and it made checking tire pressure a dream. Simply trying to make life easier.

Quick tip for the vacuum filter - get something like Dustopper. It's an attachment that fits over a 5-gal bucket and does a cyclone thing to trap most of the dust, dirt, hair, etc. in that bucket before it ever gets to the vacuum canister and, hence, the filter. To make the entire thing portable, you can put the vacuum and the bucket into a frame made of 2x4s and some swivel casters for under $50 and about an hour of time. There's bigger versions of this kind of thing that a lot of woodworking shops use and you can plumb an entire shop for it. But the 5-gal bucket thing makes it super-portable. There's numerous TH-cam videos about these things, it's crazy simple.

Zach, next time that corn builds up in those trucks, keep the floors closed, hop up in there and pull those corners down as far as you can.. And then go open the doors, shake out the loose corn, and reach up and dig out the rest. That way you aren't sliding down the sides trying to reach it. Let's just say been there, done that.. 😜

Zack, You hate airing tires on you trucks. NAPA and others have a air valve/gauge set up that is very handy. The end clips on the valve stem, then runs to a gauge with an air valve. Hit the trigger and then read the pressure. When you hit the desired pressure unclip the connection and move on. One step! It works on race cars also.

You could try coating the trailer's interior with WD-40, for those gotta get er done times. I buy WD-40 by the gallon and use it in airless sprayers to coat the underside of lawnmower decks and it works especially good on snow blowers. Even when blowing snow snot the chute doesn't plug much, if you keep your RPM's up. Good Luck.
