My Dyson NEVER DID THIS! Vax Compact Power Carpet Washer / Hoover PowerDash Pet After 8 Months 🤮

- A look into the mysterious realm of Carpet Vacuum Shampoo machines where prices vary a lot, and sales jargon supports a high price. After a lucky find at Bunnings Hardware I found a Vax Compact Power Carpet Washer for $173 AUD. I had already investigated the price of a Hoover PowerDash Pet on Amazon and it varied between $87 - $100 USD with a huge $113 USD shipping fee. So I looked on Amazon Australia and the price was a whopping $550 AUD. This started to expose to me the mysterious price drift in the Carpet Shampoo Vacuum marketplace. I only became aware of the Hoover PowerDash Pet via a simple review on NewBeanMeister22 channel.
I thought my carpets were very clean, the Dyson V8 stick vacuum does a really good job. But once I put the Vax Compact Power Carpet Washer over our 3 carpets I was astonished how much filth it was able to remove from the carpets. The water collection tank had black gunk with pet & carpet lint.
This machine is a compact style model which holds 1lt of fluid. I had to do 3 resets of the machine to clean our carpets. It's a very easy machine to clean out and reset. The amount of cleaning fluid required is minimal. I have owned Vax Compact Power Carpet Washer for 8 months and each time I clean the carpets I notice the amount of gunk lifted from the carpet is less.
In the strangest way I did find a Bissell Redi Clean PowerBrush Pet thrown out as rubbish. This Carpet Shampooer looked to be in very good condition and isn't very old. I took it home and find that it stills works. I will investigate this at some point in the future.
Carpet Vacuum Shampoo machines are something you wouldn't use weekly. This smaller style of Vacuum is suited for high traffic areas and isolated stains. But doing a bigger job can be done if your prepared to keep refilling the water tank and emptying out the dirty water. There is a small filter that's easy to clean out and removing hair and carpet fibre from the roller is not difficult. And maybe the secret to keeping these styles of machines working is to keep on top of the dirt and hair that can get trapped around the roller.
I'm very happy with my Vax Compact Power Carpet Washer more so because I paid $173 for it and not the $550 that was being asked on Amazon for the Hoover Powerdash Pet which is an identical Carpet Shampooer.

Thanks to NewBeanMeister22 for his simple reviews of the Hoover PowerDash Pet that had me investigate the deep bunnyhole of Carpet Vacuum Cleaners. If you're going to purchase one of these machines exercise EXTREME buyer beware. It took a long time to make this video, I get no money from Hoover, Dyson, Vax or have any affiliate links with kickbacks. I paid for the products you see in the video with my own money. So basically a total waste of time doing this video on TH-cam.

I read the reviews of the Vax compact online tonight and they were mostly great. The carpet in my bedroom was disgusting, the house is only one year old but in my bedroom doorway the carpet looked like it had 30 years of dirt. I shampooed my carpet at 1 am this morning and I couldn't be happier. The Vax did an amazing job. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Hey Leo, I’ve an old (probably 20 year old) Bissel Aromapro, and its still going However be aware, that they need a rinse with clean water after use to stop the detergent clogging up the pump. I had the pump go about 5 years ago, (took it to be repaired) and they mentioned most people just throw them away but Bissel have a service team and at least in eu/uk technicians who repair them.
Thanks for that. I do see Bissel have on TH-cam a dedicated video related to what gets clogged on the machine I picked up on the rubbish piles. Considering the way the machine looks as if it's never been cleaned between uses I bet your on the money with what your saying. These shampoo vacuum machines are rarely ever seen thrown out. Mind you I don't think many people buy one because they can be used so infrequently. All I know is I wish I bought one years ago because I can see how effective they are at getting the carpet grime that you can't see accumulating.

To give an idea on how ridiculous some prices are, my dad purchased 2 items for $2 each for a total of $4 but the postage cost $14.
The whole family then got into numerous conversations about this silly pricing.
Don't get me started, If I have a parcel from the USA thats cost $20USD to post to Australia I ask whats the return postage to the US using the same service and I am quoted $80AUD. Australia's prices on goods and services is getting wildly out of control. IT NEEDS TO STOP😡

Sadly he stopped making videos due to the Passing on Teddy he was hit by a car and passed away at 11 Months Old and doesn't have the power to make videos anymore.
After 3 bissels breaking down I bought one of these. Brilliant job and still going strong after a few years and I use it often!
Recently it wasn’t sucking dirty water up well enough and it was impossible to get that little filter out at the back. But it actually popped out a few days ago and using it since it’s removing dirty water and solution beautifully. Also… instead of pulling out the brushes to clean out mountains of fur I take it outside. Wind up the cord lie it on its side and with the hose on high pressure blast out the roller brush filth😂😂😂. So far I haven’t ruined it and it’s working as well as the day I bought it. Also….. to save on solution… I sometimes spray a strong mixture over an entire room.. leave it a few minutes and wash as usual with just hot water in the tank. Nifty thrifty!
word of advice for these: when you're moving along cleaning, don't make any sudden jolts (this is for ANY carpet cleaning machine) as long as you move slowly to prevent a random splash of dirty water getting sucked into the motor before the float can engage....it can cause the motor to rust...as long as you're careful and not jerking the machine around as you use it... it should be fine.

yuk, with inflation gone wild, i doubt we will never see those cheap prices on these machines ever again.
It's a machine that you could do a whip up sale in store and charge $400 because it seems so amazing. But seeing them for sale for $80 in the US exposes the real price of the machine. I will predict it will fail via an electrical fault, dodgy foot switch or motor problem. There's not much to these machines at all.

I'm trying to find a video that helps with a problem. The water comes out of the nozzle totally unevenly! I cleaned the nozzle, put it back on, still the same problem. Hardly used the machine and now this.

so bloody true, you would think the Aussie prices are because stuff is floating over on a dam thong, and due to half not making it that we have to pay for the losses, i managed to pick one up today for 199aud, best i could find most want 260 and above.
considering its all from china and we are closer than the Americans, I can never work out why we have to bend over and take a good fingering with prices.

the bearings in the motor are very loud and it is hard to clean it out fully
I have made a prediction with another TH-camr I know where this machine will fail. And I said the electrics, foot switch or motor. Sounds like the motor is the weakest link in the chain from what your saying. I'm going to put Texta X's on my machine to remind me how many times I use it. I'm just glad I didn't pay Amazon's price of $550

i got one for the family to use and one for me to use on my own floor
theirs sounds so bad and loud that it would wake anyone up out of a deep slumber
mine isn't as loud but its still loud enough to be heard in the living room if i use it in my room
theyre are great the first few times but after using it and getting moisture in the motor/bearings it starts getting loud and eventually ends in the pile just like my Bissell pro heat which failure was the same fate after 7 years of use
the bearings aren't user replaceable/can't be re-greased like most vacuums can either
i think i got both of mine for around $80 to $100 USD from Walmart

@@WillPlaysGames1993 As carpet cleaners go, for $80 even if it only lasts a couple of years, I'm happy with it. I used to own a $1000 full-sized cleaner just like those rental units. And I'd have to replace this more than 10 times to equal the cost of that unit; I guess we can chalk it up to our disposable culture.

most ive spent on one was like $150 which lasted 10 years before it finally gave out but it was used in a bunch of houses and maybe 4000 hours or more

Did a little research, the Hoover vacuum here is not that common but it’s around 170€ (although 24% of that is taxes). I know that the Aussie dollar isn’t as strong as the US one but what the heck??? A 450$ difference ?? How do they explain that ?

Yes, you are correct. Hoover was bought by a Chinese company, that also make the Vax cleaner. They are the same machines, made by the same company, and in some markets being sold side by side with a big price difference.
