    I'm a big fan of a German accent speaking calmly, assuredly and knowledgeably. It's strangely soothing, considering that German, to non speakers, has a reputation for being a bit, well, harsh. Part of the reason why I love Werner Herzog😄 Keep up the good work.

    I have a problem that when I set the interval to 1 second the camera slows down to 1.5 or 2 seconds per picture. Is my memory card write speed to low or do you have the same problem?

    It sucks that this isn't included with the a6000, or really any one of the Alpha cameras as the a6500 and on aren't cheap (and I'm talking about just the camera body).

      The website of Sony is poorly programmed. You have to use "Internet Explorer" and I even had to deactivate Avast Antivirus (I know, bad combination :D) to be able to download the app.

      Does it keep crashing, or does it not let you actually complete the purchase, giving you an error message? If you get an error message, its because you cant actually buy it using a credit card, you have to add funds to your sony wallet, then purchase it with money already in your account.

    • @Lcadelaide

    I have a question though. I tried the time-lapse app for a Night -> Morning timepalse but for some reasons camera did not adjust exposure as the light increased when the sun came out.
    I went to Custom Settings and under AE -- "Lock(AEL)", I selected "LO".
    Tried it twice, once with full manual mode and another one with Aperture Priority Mode. Same result. What am I missing?
    Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

    Hii Ich Du,
    tolles Video!
    Einige Fragen die für mich (bisher = Part 1 Übrig bleiben)
    Bei Sunset/Sunrise fotografie, auf welchen Wert soll dann AEL Tracking gestellt werden? LO MID HIGH?
    Wie soll ich bei Unter/Überbelichtung mit ND Filter reagieren? Belichtzungszeit ändern(ändert ja automatisch die Dargestellten Bewegungen, oder dann lieber mit der Blende etwas kleiner gehen?)
    Hast du "rule of thumb" bei den Blenden für andere Timelaps Szenarien, nicht nur für Landschaften. Mich Interessieren vor allem Sunset, Wolken und Sternenfotografie.
    Danke schonmal! Weiter so -mein ABO hast du!

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tobi peh,
      bei AEL Tracking kann man keine pauschale Einstellung nennen. Bei HIGH
      kann es aber schneller zum Flackern kommen, da die Kamera sehr stark auf
      Umgebungslicht reagiert (wenn sich z.B. kurzzeitig eine Wolke vor die
      Sonne schiebt). Also vielleicht lieber erst mal mit LOW oder MID
      probieren.
      Der ND Filter macht das Bild Dunkler, brauchst Du also nur bei drohender
      Überbelichtung. Wenn es trotz Filter zu hell ist, würde ich erst die
      Blendenzahl erhöhen, erst wenns dann immer noch zu hell ist die Belichtungszeit verkürzen.
      Wenn Du bei Nacht ein Timelapse aufnimmst und das Bild wird zu Dunkel einfach die Belichtungszeit
      verlängern. Die Belichtungszeit kann natürlich nicht länger sein als das Intervall der Bilder.
      Streng genommen ist Sunset, Wolken und Sternenfotografie auch Landschaftsfotografie. Die Objekte
      sind ja weit weg von der Kamera. Deshalb ändert sich hier nichts. Anders ist es nur bei Sternen. Hier brauchst du ein lichtstarkes Objektiv und solltest eine Blendenzahl von F 2 oder niedriger nehmen, mind. 20 sec Belichtungszeit und ISO 800-1600. Empfehlen kann ich für Sterne das Samyang 12mm.
      Hoffe ich konnte Dir helfen :)

      Ich Du thanks, ok really only a6300/6500 has electronic shutter. So you are using mechanical shutter for time-lapse. Do you have a problem with usury of shutter? Or you will only buy another when failure of shutter happens? I m searching a good camera for create time-lapse. May by buying Nikon D70 can be a good option. But it's a little big.

    • @ichdu1545

    Hi, I am brand new to photography (since the film Canon AE-1 days) and so happy with my Sony a6000. I really would like to take timelapse of the monsoon storms we get here in Arizona and your video has me really excited. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding a ND1000 ND filter for my Sony SEL50F18 50mm f/1.8 Lens. Is 50mm an odd size or am I just not understanding filter and lens size compatibility?

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Chris, the Sony SEL50F18 is great lens for portrait's. I use it too. But it's not the best choice for a landscape time-lapse. I would recommend you to use a wide angle lens for this. Either try the kit SEL1650 or (better choice) the Samyang 12mm F2.0 (sold in the USA under the name "Rokinon 12mm F2.0").
      There should be ND filter for every one of these lenses but you can also try to use an adapter. For the SEL50F18 you need an ND filter with 49mm and for the Rokinon 12mm F2.0 an ND filter with 67mm

    sure f22 would make the image less sharp, but adding a nd filter or any filter or even nd1000 would sure reduce the image quality too

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe in terms of color correctness, depending on the quality of your filter. But it won't make your image blurry.

    I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for creating this fantastic 4 part video tutorial. You are an excellent instructor and I highly recommend this 4 part tutorial to everyone interested in how to make a time lapse video. While visiting St. Louis this week I had a very nice view from my Hyatt hotel room on the 16th floor. I decided to experiment with my Sony a6000 and time lapse. After watching the first video, I downloaded the Time Lapse app for the a6000 and began shooting the time lapse right away. Thank you Ich Du for creating this TH-cam tutorial.

      Im glad you liked it. The most encouraging thing are really not the subscriptions, the thumbs up or the views, it's the comments. And I wish good luck with your own time lapse videos!

    How is the battery life when shooting time lapse with the a6000?
    I'm looking at the a6000 as a step up from my cell phone camera which I've used to take a few sunset time lapses of 1400+ images.
    Does the Sony app also limit you to only 990 images as well or is that just what's displayed?

      Battery life is good while taking a timelapse but it's limited to 990 images.

    Hallo! Vielen Dank dafür, dass du hier deine Erfahrungen teilst... mir hilft das weiter... Ich habe jetzt auch die Sony A6000 und wollte mit Timelaps beginnen... da ich meist auch im dunkeln/am Abend/bei Nacht fotografiere, würde ich gerne wissen, welche die Einstellungen du hierfür wählst? z. B. für die Straßenszene oder die Szene mit den Schiffen am Anfang deines Videos! DIE SIND SUPER GELUNGEN!!! Danke für deine Hilfe schon im Voraus! LG Waldi

      Waldemar Schaffrinski, freut mich das dir mein Video gefällt. Es gibt leider keine perfekten Einstellungen, die
      immer funktionieren. Das ist sehr Motiv und Licht abhängig. Ein guter Startwert (für Zeitrafferaufnahmen) ist: ISO 100, Blende 16, Belichtung:2sec

    best tutorial on how to take a timelapse :D good job, what settings should i use to do astrophotography with the a6000 ?

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hallo SkylarveinYT,
      You should use a lense that allows you to use a low F-Stop number like F 2, exposure 20 sec and ISO of 800-1600. Depends all on your conditions.

    Thanks for this! I notice you have the "Interval Priority" option set to off; how does that effect the timelapse?
    Also, in manual mode I don't think AE Tracking would work (it is only for PAS modes) so how do we do day-night shoots while having longer shutter speeds? Multiple takes?

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interval Priority will set the priority to the Interval. Which means the camera may ignore things like "Long-Exposure Noise Reduction" or AE Tracking if it intersects with the interval.
      You can use AE Trackin in manual mode but then you have to set ISO to Auto. Choose S, A or P depending on what is more important to you. If you want to lock the shutter speed, choose the S mode. Then the camera will adjust the f-stop to the light condition. You can also combine it with "Auto ISO"

      Sorry I don't know, it works fine with my camera. Maybe you use a lens that doesn't support it.

      weird. I go into normal mode and set my fstop and i go into the application and its stuck at that so I guess thats a work around.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your tutorial. Could your answer one question. If you set AE tracking to LOW and set Manual mode (for example 1" f4.5 ISO100) how can camera change exposure? Maybe it need to set P/S/S mode for AE tracking?

    • @ichdu1545
      @ichdu1545  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Oleg Lazhechnikov,
      in this combination the camera can't use AE tracking. If you want to shoot in manual mode you can set ISO to AUTO, this will allow the camera to make the image brighter but not darker. So if you want a consistent exposure of a sunrise you have to use either P/S/or A mode.

    Sorry to ask, but how was the ND1000 filter used? I missed it.

    • @2tone471
      @2tone471 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrEye4get the shutter speed is reduced which makes the image way brighter and the filter is used to darken the image. Pretty much sunglasses for a lens. The shutter speed is reduced for motion blur
