WinWing PTO 2 - Unboxing and comparison

  • Heya folks, I'm not sure if this channel will be my place for these types of videos, but since this particular product just came out, and there aren't any unboxing videos out there yet (I take that back, a new search shows one other as of today), I wanted to get it out there for people like me that order something and then in anticipation want to see what they're getting.
All products I own ($15,000 or more) have all been fully purchased by myself and I have no ties with any manufacturer or software developer. Just a user of the products, like you, and me simply documenting as I go. I do not have a patreon, nor want tips of any kind.
Content creators tend to put music in the background. It is because of background noise or other artifacting from attempts of cleaning audio in videos (such as remove noise). I dislike videos that have the volume too loud, but if anything, I set mine too low. If you like what you hear, all the piano music you hear is my own attempts at others and please feel free to have a better listen on my music channel.

Brake lever is typically plastic in real aircraft. Just tougher. 🤓 I liked your closeup video and audio of switch and button demos. As well as good look at overall construction.

I'm really thinking about getting one of these, but I don't like how winwing has the same switch/button on multiple things. For example: I have the super taurus and PCR, so I don't need the jettison select and fuel probe functionality. I do like the master caution button and redesigned emergency/brake handle. I'll probably wait for a bit and see what else is coming out since the taurus and PCR are at EOL. I did like the sliders on the original PTO. I used one for zoom and heard others used one to rotate the nozzles on the harrier. Great video

Totally agree on duplicates. I wish they just made replicas and that would then never happen. I'm trying to sell my PTO v1 since I got it while the PCR was out of stock, not knowing it was EOL Even today, a year later, it still doesn't say EOL. They were my first choice in sticks because they made replicas but their panel design seems like choices were made by using a magic 8-ball over logic.

@@MrTurbine777 It does feel like winwing doesn't use logic when placing buttons. When I was first planning my flight sim and reading winwing reviews, one of the biggest complaints I read was that the jettison select buttons were on the PCR while the knob was on the PTO. This (according to the reviewers) was a ploy by winwing to make people buy both. I agree with you in making replicas. I feel that people that buy these pieces of kit are looking for an immersive experience and the more accurate the button box, the more immersive the experience.

Is it true that the Parking/Emergency Brake Lever cannot be turned vertically?
The PTO2 launch video showed an animation of turning it vertically, so I would be really disappointed if it couldn't be turned vertically on the final product.

I was disappointed too, but it's just like I show in the video at 2:14

I forgot to ask where can I find that excruted aluminum track tubing? What is it called? Thanks

"Aluminum Extrusions" or "Aluminum Profiles" is what they're called. Amazon is where I've bought them but there are many types and many ways to get the wrong one. Even another, near identical 40x80 profile may have different depth T-nut grooves. I've wasted a few hundred dollars on learning this but have kept the profiles for future possibilities. No matter what you intend to do, you will be buying lots and lots of materials and other hardware to make your ideas work. To the point I now see the high price of monstertech is worth it and they don't make as much money/profit as I once thought. Also most people can prepare their wallet for lots of new tools.

Nice video and I received mine last week. Can you advise on what mounting parts you used please? Thanks

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the bracket on the back of my old one as easy as I thought. I had to use a grinder and make new grooves. I then used one of many different style angle brackets, T-nuts, and 4080 aluminum extrusion to make it work as I had the other. There are so many different ways and all will be tailored and custom per person on what they use for a frame, or what they may be attaching it to, so it's hard to say. Best I can say is when I do get my other videos up, I will have links. Quick answer, and what is most likely to be the case with everyone using aluminum extrusions, is to start looking at the many different attachments, bolts, etc, because there's never a time that I don't have to change something, or am short one thing I didn't think of. Since I started I have boxes and boxes of different brackets, plates, covers, bolts, nuts, the list is endless.

Just Found your channel. Great review. Mine is supposed to be here on the 30th. 😊 my next upgrade is the Top Gun MIP. I'm using the Warthog Throttle and Stick from Thrust Master. I'm using the Next Level Racing (NLR) Boeing Military edition sim pit. I'm also using the NLR Monitor stand. I engineered it to blot onto my sim pit. It can hold a large curved monitor, or a multiple set up like yours. What are you using for monitors? What is their refresh rate and Htz? What connection type are you using HDMI or Display Port?
My PC is purpose built for DCS. My build :

Nice specs! Very similar to mine. I have 256gb of ram though, but same video card (if yours too is the liquid). My monitors are 144hz, but even a 4090 won't allow all three at that with the MIP, since each monitor on the mip is still a monitor, even though they only run at 1024x768. I get the center at 144 and sides at 120. The monitors are Samsung 28" Odyssey G70A Gaming Monitors. Display port for all three.
It's funny because I actually had the Next Level Racing rig and boeing seat practically in my shopping cart several times but went the MT route. Great choice though!

I will wait for them to update the hook and gear and made them out of metal and the jettison rotary with more distinguishable notches like the PTO1 has. And that parking brake... I don't like they cheap out on these items. For sure people will start to break them and complain... "acts of violence" ROFL :D

Brake nob pulls out for emergency and turn left for parking, just as it says to the right of it. Saw someone else pull the nob and they still weren’t sure how it worked.
Hook and extend wings don’t get in each other’s way. If you’re on the carrier, hook is up. Wings can be retracted or extended.
When you land, wings are out. Hook goes down. Once landed, hook up, wings retracted.
You never have the hook on without the extended wings or you’ll drop from the sky. 😎

Thanks, and Yes, I show all that the parking brake can do at 5:30 and also mention that the very congested hook lever and wing lever although are very close, wouldn't effect the other due to how and when they would need to be used.
