- Redecorating my room on a budget! An insight into my lockdown boredom after coming back from travelling and only working part time I decided to give my room a much needed makeover to make it more suitable for my needs as a creative, giving me more storage, space and a brighter feel to counter those lockdown blues.

Inspring. You’re lucking with a supporting family. Mine was shouting; don’t touch that; don’t use that; you will ruin it! So I got out at 18. But now decades later I’m like: I can do things why not. So I’m watching YT compulsively to build courage and this video isn’t about extraordinary skills just about taking charge of a room and life. I Like your filming too.

Same that's also the reason why later when I'm 18 i wanna move out and buy my own house or like go to the university that is out of my country u-u (im 15 btw)

if i ever have kids i’m going to live in the same house until they move out. i never had that growing up. we were always moving and i never felt like i had a space that was truly mine. there’s something comforting about having the same room for your whole life. it grows and changes with you. you can collect things you want and get rid of stuff that no long serves you
i’ve lived in the same house my whole life and honestly the thought of ever leaving it for good like the family moving out or tearing it down… i can’t imagine that. i did grow tired of it at some points but that’s why change came in handy. rearranging my room and adding new little knickknacks made such a big difference. i love it here (even though you won’t catch me telling my family that 😂)
I lived in my old house until I turned 13, and now we're in the new house. Yes, I do miss all the hiding spots and how it was bigger, but now we're more financially stable.

I don’t know how... I don’t know why.... but this motivated me to do something with my room SO MUCH. I have the cleanest room out of my friend’s... I have literally no clutter. I have no idea how this motivated me to clean my room even more... but like just wow.

8:00 I know it doesn't necessarily help now but for anyone else that needs to cover ink. If you put a thin layer of liquid (not stick) Elmer's glue or school glue over it and let it dry you should be able to paint over it just fine. We used to have to do this to wood when building sets and it covers much better because there's a barrier the ink can't bleed through. Hope this helps!
This was refreshing! So often room makeover videos are people saying they’re going to redo their whole room but then it’s just their parents doing most of the work. I like that this was your project and you asked for advice but then did it yourself. Well done!
but whats wrong with a parent doing it? my dad painted my walls because he wanted to make sure i didnt mess it up😂
@@l01s Nothing, but for a video it’s a little misleading to say you’re doing something if it’s your parents doing the work.
@@adelate i mean, not everyone is capable of doing everything, plus it attracts people, or they dont wanna say “my parents did my room makeover”
@@l01s I realize why they don’t say so (anything for views) but I still find it more fun when the person making the video actually does the work. This is just my opinion, please feel free to watch all of the parental room makeovers you can find if you like them.

Great job cutting the paneling with a jigsaw. That would have been tedious! And you got them so straight. I don’t even attempt to use a jigsaw to cut something if I need it to be straight 😂 I bought a table saw for straight cuts but it’s so loud (even with earmuffs) that I’m too frightened to use it 😂🤣😢😭

This was amazing. I’ve been binge watching room makeover videos for a few weeks, and usually people just change the posters on their wall. You put in a lot of effort into thoroughly cleaning and revamping your room and it looks great.

I relate a lot to you with art. For as long as I've had stickers and tape and paper I've been creating collages and sticking them to my walls. There's still so much sticky sticker residue and I've got hundreds (literally hundreds) of holes in my four walls from all the thumbtacks I've used to hang my art and awards and random pretty items I loved at the time.
I've painted some murals as well for both recreation and school (during online classes for covid) and, while they do cover up all the blank space I don't like, I feel like I've grown a lot since painting them in 2020.
I've been on this journey of self-discovery and recovery and figuring out who I am since my later high school year, and while it's sad taking old decorations down sometimes and it's heartbreaking thinking about painting over old murals, I can always take pictures of them and keep those forever! It also leaves more room to grow and change as a person as well, so it's bittersweet but I think worth it in the long run!
Btw the mismatch buttons on your green headboard was such a fun idea! The buttons being unique makes the headboard a super special piece. I also love that you're recycling furniture and diy-ing them into something you love, whether it was to save money or not. It's a fun way to make use of what you have and really customize your space to your personal tastes. Frustrating sometimes, and not as convenient or fun as buying something new from IKEA, but you made them work beautifully!
