A question, If Europe, especially Great Britain or then England, has supported the Confederacy and the Confederacy had won, would GB find a way to subvert the Confederacy and taken it over? Something along the lines of the Confederacy owes us "X" amount of money and we want it now! And when we asked for an extension then the takeover commences. I have always been curious about something like this.
Lol no not even the United Kingdom could mobilize the numbers needed to invade the Confederate States they'd get wrecked. Not to mention the logistics needed to accomplish that in the first place would more than likely bankrupt them.
Varina Davis was probably the mistress of Judah Benjamin, who held several cabinet posts during Davis’ presidency, and was head of the Confederate secret service. Davis seems to have looked the other way at this relationship between his wife and his closest advisor. At any rate, Varina spends as much if not more space in her memoirs to discussing Benjamin’s life and career as she does that of her husband. When discussing his death in Paris, I think a few years before her husband’s, Varina wrote that “then died one of the great legalese minds that this country [the U.S.A.? the C.S.A?) ever produced."
Jefferson F. Davis was the John Adams of the Confederacy. He was politically, but not personally qualified for the Presidency. While Abraham Lincoln was like Woodrow Wilson. Personally, but not politically qualified for the Presidency. In short, Davis represented the south, & Lincoln represented the north.
This is an interesting video; yet I would want to know more about his decisions, actions and attitude during the War. The problem with the CW was its’ initial principal for the southern union; a Confederacy versus a Republic. The Southern states were never really unified; nor would they ever could be. Whereas the North could master all their resources against them. From a one yer West Point cadet; from Arkansas.
I took great comfort in the obnoxious song 'Dixie being played as a funeral dirge. Unfortunately the funeral was premature. People always make that argument that it was how it was back then like they didn't know better. But, thats disingenuous. Slavery and it's evils were debated for decades before that. Europe had already given up on it and it was not legal in the North. To make like these Southerners just had no idea that slavery was wrong is baloney. The vast majority of the white world had pointed it out to them for decades. So, it wasn't just how it was back then. The South were just the last hold outs of the ugly institution of slavery in America and they left the union and took up arms against their own countrymen to perpetuate it. They don't deserve any accolades for that.
@@stephaniefrazee3955 Its more complicated than that. The world had recently witnessed the extermination of the whites in Haiti. The mulattos were exterminated after the whites. Look at intellectuals in America during the 20th Century supporting a more cruel and murderous slavery in the USSR.
@@davetisch574 I didn't know any assessment of Jeffersson Davis depended on a comparison with my humble life. But sure, I believe that I have done a number of good deeds in my life, particularly in contrast to him. Jeffersson Davis appears to have been a decent officer in the Mexican war and essentially was elected into Congress and later president of the Confederacy for it, but he seems to have been an ineffective politician. @@marksaucier can you draw basic conclusions from a text more than simply reading the letters? Can you present serious counterarguments instead of simply attempting to insult? I don't think so sir.
The pope is a pagan. They all are. Catholicism is Romes answer to trying to kill off real Christianity. Rome tortured and imprisoned and viciously murdered real Christians, and when that didn’t stop it they pretended to join them. But they just took the gospel and tried to glue it to the pagan roots. And then over the centuries they went on killing spree’s because the idea was to steer the people who would follow Jesus into a fake version that would strip them of the power and authority that belongs to every born-again believer. Catholics have no clue about that. They don’t even seem to know that Jesus had siblings, and Mary could not have been a “perpetual virgin“. And God does not have a mommy. And Mary isn’t your blessed mommy either. She is Jesus‘s mommy and she is his siblings mommy and she’s not anyone else is mommy So the idea was steer all the people away from the real gospel by mixing it with their pagan cult, And make the rest of the world hate what they falsely believe is Christianity so that no one will ever get anywhere near the real thing. And they’ve pulled it off pretty well for 2000 years, of course they had to contend with the people that took the writings, translated into German and English so people could decide for themselves, whereupon they realize that Catholicism was indeed paganism, and was in direct defiance of the Bible all over the place, so they refused to participate in these pagan activities that insult God. Catholicism just renamed all the Roman gods and goddesses with Bible names, but continued doing pagan activities, kick Jesus aside is the only intercessor, and go what God calls a whoring to Mary and saints. And then they put the Egyptian obelisk which is an homage to the Egyptian fertility god in Vatican Square like a giant middle finger to God. And it just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on from there. Jesus’s one true church could never be a formal organization. As soon as you make a a human the head of a church, then you have kicked Jesus out of his rightful spot. Jesus is the head of his church and NO ONE else is. His followers can never be more than the body of Christ. And there is no hierarchy in the body of Christ. Every true follower of Jesus has equal power and authority to use his name and to speak to and hear from God. The “one true church“ can only ever be the spiritual collective of every individual worldwide who reads, studies, and follows and acts upon the teachings of Christ, most importantly acts upon the actual teachings of Christ, not what formal organizations say are the teachings of Christ, all formal organizations add, subtract, and severely limit the members from what Jesus actually said to do. Jesus’s one true church would never bow to a leader, kiss a ring, or acknowledge a “queen of heaven”, Use a rosary, give God a recital when he wants a conversation… God is not interested in your recitations, and trying to contact anyone else is necromancy and forbidden in the Bible, engage in the repetitive prayers of the heathen, call some man “father“ when God said to call no man father because he is your Father (That is, if you are actually a born-again Christian, because that’s what it takes to be called a child of God, because we are absolutely not “all God’s children”… The entire Bible is full of stories and the history of God’s children, and everyone else. It differentiates all the way through… in fact, the gospel of John States very clearly what it takes to be called a child of God, and Jesus speaks to some of the corrupt Jews, telling them they are children of their father the devil, end of the synagogue of Satan. You cannot be a child of the devil and a child of God, that would be blasphemy all of which is obvious why Catholicism was always forbidding their people to read the Bible, especially the four gospels; because that’s where your spiritual rights and responsibilities and instructions are, and that’s where it differentiates, Catholics know nothing about the Bible it seems…they’ve added so much and taken so much out it’s just some convoluted pagan religion with little sprinklings of Bible. One is also not to go to a man’s closet and talk to a “priest”, when God got rid of the priesthood on the day of crucifixion, and said to come to him directly from your own closet or quiet space and confess to God DIRECTLY, and then he is quick to forgive (immediately if you’re sincere) , because again, Jesus already paid for your sins, so thinking that you could somehow pay for them again is kind of like telling Jesus he did a crappy job and you can do better with your filthy rags…you’re to go to God, not some human’s closet, which just gave them inside information to manipulate people all these centuries, light candles for the dead or anyone else, or pay “indulgences“, thinking you could ever bribe God, especially to get people out of a nonexistent purgatory, or baptize babies, or dare to demand the need for and try to guilt people into asking for a “absolution“, or insult Jesus by having people “pay penance”, for something Jesus already paid for, Think you could earn salvation, when it’s a free gift or any other pagan things God specifically said NOT to do. And of course in Revelation, Rome is the whore of Babylon. Nobody else could fit the definition. All the way down to the purple and scarlet robes. Catholics need to stop acting like people are attacking them and see that people are trying to yank them out of oncoming traffic and save them. The Bible says to come out of Babylon while you still can. And we suggest you do. The Bible if you actually read it with your eyes open, comparing what God says not to do and looking for what he actually says to do will prove it. You don’t need any human, you just need to actually do your own research. And don’t use these modern versions that have ripped out verses and even a whole chapter, and pudding gay people on the committee so they can pretend that being gay isn’t a sin, which it is. That’s why you must be careful what version you actually read the Geneva is quite good and eloquent for those who can actually read English. But for your own sake, stop being offended by the people who are trying to warn you to get out of that pagan cult. Anyone saying otherwise is going against the Bible and is a satanic liar.
Thank you for your comment. This video is very old, almost 10 years now. If I made it today I would probably have emphasized Davis' role as a slaveholder and slavery's importance to the Confederate cause.
Without slavery some people were still living in the jungle eating and selling each other, instead of getting to a land where they got the chance to work and study.
Wth? Well this really sucked. The video doesn't even bother to cover even the important events during the MOST CRUCIAL years of Jefferson Davis' life by SKIPPING the entire Civil War and Davis' actions and leadership of the Confederacy from 1861-1865.
Jefferson Davis was a traitor, slave owner, a weak leader, his war plans were unsuccessful, he dd not gain any foreign allies for the south, and the confederacy was plagued by inflation.
Acdragonrider Videos Their is not nor will there ever be a sound legal argument for a state to secede the Union. States are forever bound to the Union. The confederacy was never independent, it was an open rebellion that was put down by the president. The president doesn't need a declaration of war to preserve the union. The moment the states had seceded, they were subject to immediate military action. No matter what the confederacy claimed they were still American States. The confederacy, its flag, veterans, statues are all synonymous with treason.
Acdragonrider Videos The Founding Fathers did commit treason against the King, but they won the war, created a new country, and were not fighting against their own government. They also were trying to create a more just world, a better place for everyone. The confederates declared war against their own government, and lost. The confederates did not want to elevate the condition of all people, they wanted to continue to degrade and humiliate people based on ethnicity and gender. They lost the war, the country remained the same, so they remain traitors against the US government. Celebrating their treason makes you a traitor, not a ‘rebel’. Celebrating that treason is a way that people can show their support for slavery and the degradation of other human beings.

The Confederacy had no chance of winning. Great Britain wasn't stupid enough to back a backward society of Slave owners and ultimately LOSERS.

Ewww lala. Un scandale!
There’s some speculation that Benjamin was either gay or impotent. If true then his and Varina’s relationship would have been a platonic one.
@@kennethmorgan6516 I'm inclined to credit that speculation. Benjamin had a wife whom he ignored.
You are a liar sir.

whats the difference btwn TRUMP & JEFFERSON DAVIS?????
nothing
Jefferson F. Davis was the John Adams of the Confederacy. He was politically, but not personally qualified for the Presidency. While Abraham Lincoln was like Woodrow Wilson. Personally, but not politically qualified for the Presidency. In short, Davis represented the south, & Lincoln represented the north.
Wow this is actually very accurate
This
is an interesting video; yet I would want to know more about his decisions,
actions and attitude during the War. The problem with the CW was its’ initial
principal for the southern union; a Confederacy versus a Republic. The Southern states were never really unified; nor would they ever could be. Whereas the North could master all their resources against them.
From a one yer West Point cadet; from Arkansas.
Read Jefferson Davis's book, "The Rise & Fall of the Confederate Government"

Jefferson davis deserves to be remembered for his heroism before the civil war and his want of reconciliation afyer thr civil war
I took great comfort in the obnoxious song 'Dixie being played as a funeral dirge. Unfortunately the funeral was premature. The south sadly continues on, torturing the intelligent, the rational, and the Christian. Oh, how I wish the civil war had never happened. Just imagine what the u.s. might be today without the south.....
Without the south you’d have your lovely Weimar land of Epsteins and such.
Davis was willing to negotiate peace before Fort Sumter but Lincoln ignored every call for peace put in front of him. Bastard.

CONFEDERATE IS BACK !
He wasnt racist. Slaves were an institution that had been around for ages.he even had a black man run his plantations and who eventually bought one from the jeffersons.i dont believe it's fair to say racist or sexist things were diff back then and was normal.not saying it's right but it is what is is.we cant really judge the past just not make the same mistakes and always try to be better.
I would love to hear you claim that in front of a room full of black Americans today.😲😨🤤
@@josephdelatorre3751
I most certainly would.first I base this off of factual writings.plus I have more inside info than u.and explain this if he was racist why did he turn over all plantantarion operations to a black man.now dont misconstrue me slavery is wrong.however in that time it was an accepted practice everywhere.north south every which way.so may I ask u a question sir.just exactly why is it u feel I wouldn't Express this to a room of black people? Do u find history offensive or do u use it constructively?
Black Americans specifically.no offence intented by saying people
People always make that argument that it was how it was back then like they didn't know better.

But sure, I believe that I have done a number of good deeds in my life, particularly in contrast to him.
Jeffersson Davis appears to have been a decent officer in the Mexican war and essentially was elected into Congress and later president of the Confederacy for it, but he seems to have been an ineffective politician.
When it comes to his personal life, his marriages ended in tragedies that were non of his fault. He also inherited land, real estate and slaves which made him wealthy, but mostly managed by the slaves themselves.

Scum
If you were Zachery Taylor you would be a pile of dust and rightly so.
He was a friend of the Pope automatically makes him okay in my book
TheMexican1821 why?
The Pope? King of the Pedos?
She is Jesus‘s mommy and she is his siblings mommy and she’s not anyone else is mommy
So the idea was steer all the people away from the real gospel by mixing it with their pagan cult, And make the rest of the world hate what they falsely believe is Christianity so that no one will ever get anywhere near the real thing.
Jesus’s one true church would never bow to a leader, kiss a ring, or acknowledge a “queen of heaven”, Use a rosary, give God a recital when he wants a conversation…
God is not interested in your recitations, and trying to contact anyone else is necromancy and forbidden in the Bible, engage in the repetitive prayers of the heathen, call some man “father“ when God said to call no man father because he is your Father (That is, if you are actually a born-again Christian, because that’s what it takes to be called a child of God, because we are absolutely not “all God’s children”… The entire Bible is full of stories and the history of God’s children, and everyone else.
Somebody should put a dress on his statue 😂😂😂

He believed in patriarchy and hierarchy. I don't find anything wrong with these things but come t me equality, politically correct folks ;)
Jefferson Davis was a traitor, slave owner, a weak leader, his war plans were unsuccessful, he dd not gain any foreign allies for the south, and the confederacy was plagued by inflation.
Xavier Washington in the point of view of many people secession was not illegal.
Xavier Washington and by your logic our founding fathers were traitors to the crown.
