If there is a four digit date code sticker on the back, the second number is the last digit of the year it was made. I think they switched to the RCA name on them in 2008 and GE got out of electronics mostly. The more recent RCA Super Radios though are made by a different company called AVC multimedia. The AVC made units don't seem to have the date code sticker.

I think the RCA & GE are the same inside, but the Radio Shack Optimus version was different. I’ll bet these radios are still working fine!
I have a GE Superadio III and mine works great.
That g.e. is genuine .that r.c.a. is probably the copy with a different circuitry that doesn't compare with the g.e.

Tecsun is made in China and are great radios. Same with c crane.
Plenty on shortwave.
