  • Bo and Lorena are a crow couple (crows mate for life) and dear friends of mine. Bo is the dominant one in the relationship, but by no means does that make Lorena meek. She's as tough as her Bo, but plays the submissive role in their relationship.
    I love them so much!
    (That's my dog whining in the background because he wants a treat, too.)

    I feed my local crows but they’re still skittish. They come to me and they know what time I put out food but they won’t get within 30 feet of me. I have to go inside for them to actually eat and I watch them from my window. They’ve left me little presents. So far I’ve gotten two feathers and a branch from an artificial Christmas tree. They brought the Christmas tree branch in April so I have no idea where they got it from😂

      These birds are so special. You can even teach them to bring you precious things like earrings and rings. 😂😂

    Crows are from a magical land. They even don’t feel cold during the winter when other birds run away they always stay around with us even when they don’t have winter coats

      They do though! They have coats made of crow down. 😊

    How long did it take for them to eat out of your hand. I have a bunch of crow friends for half a year now, and they do come close, but not that close.

    • @TheCrowLady
      @TheCrowLady  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Months. Some never get that close, others are bolder. It depends on their personalities!

    I yesterday was feeding my 5 feral cats and heard 2 crows, and I threw some cat food and kind of laughed... NOT thinking they'd eat it 😮 I didn't see the crows eat it, but yesterday a crow DROPPED a walnut in my yard!! 😮 First of all, WT HECK?? I came here to see if I'm losing my mind 😮 Sounds like I made some friends 😊 and where'd they get a walnut?? What should i feed them now?

    • @TheCrowLady
      @TheCrowLady  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Seems they like cat food. The walnut may have been dropped from a high point in an attempt to crack it open, then perhaps abandoned if it didn’t. Maybe open it for them and leave it out, see if anyone takes it.
      They like meat, eggs, kibble… Nuts are a hit, especially peanuts in the shell. Unsalted, of course. Salt is hard on their kidneys. Avoid dairy, difficult to digest. Avocado and chocolate are toxic. Try to put food out when they are around so they associate you with it. This will also encourage them to collect it sooner and prevent attracting other, sometimes less popular, animals into your yard. 🐀

    I love how intelligent & smart your crows are, never been able to hand feed one. They are magical creatures 👍

    You gotta feed the male first they got hierarchy. That’s why the male is trying to swat the other one because he is not done yet.

      I feed little birds 🐤 🐦 dry dog food by puppy chow, and the cross have been trying to eat the birds food, in which I scare away bc I don't like crows. You can try that

      Well with Bo, it was about this time last year. I had all the time and patience in the world with the lockdown, but there was also something deeper, a special connection we found in each other, so he took less than a month. I’ve known Lorena, his bride, since they hooked up late winter, but only about a month ago did she start eating from my hand. Judging by her trust and confidence, though, I feel it could have happened sooner. Bo just tends to hog the show.

    • @TheCrowLady
      @TheCrowLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Nothing, it’s really up to the crow. Some are bolder than others. But also, infinite patience with zero expectation helps…
