I am still a bit confused where lottie came from and why it is here (I am glad that it is, I am just confused because it's more than a new encoding; it's a.. framework? For the last time... Jif? Is peanut butter! Also we already had Flash for "vector" animation. Flash was already the perfect vector solution, it's just that Steve Jobs and Apple couldn't make money off of Flash so they banned it.
The video is cool and contains many of beautiful examples of animation :)) But background music is too loud :(

Does it have negative performance effects on the page (= slows down the page) where the lottie animation code is embedded? Thanks :)
I think it is very light.
the size is significantly smaller but the movements in a vector svg might turn down the performance a little bit but it still would be lighter than any any png or gif.
but if you're completely nuts and try to do the animation in pure CSS then yeah it would be comparatively slower.
They say don't use plugins. You are depending on other companies !!

You don't always need to do what 'they' say ;) Make your own rules
we animators use a ton of plugins and precomping... and json doesnt support those...so its a bit lengthy to work with developers and animators...

If you create a JSON file, why would you put it in Lottie instead of directly placing the JSON file?

is thr a limit on how much long a Lottie animation could be? can it be compose of 3000 jpgs(in animation terms 3000 frames)?
Hey Syed, there is no limit. However, the longer the animation, the heavier the file size will be. So it is not recommended. :)

However, if you are looking for posting, you may need to download the mp4 version as those two platforms do not support Lottie uploads for social posting as yet. If you are looking to post it as Instagram story, you may try the LottieFiles mobile app (link: lottiefiles.com/mobile) where you can post your favourite Lotties by clicking on the "Share animation to Instagram Story" button.
