  • This video will show you my technique of cleaning and sanitizing your incubator after each use. How do you kill bacteria in an incubator?
By cleaning the incubator with soap you will succeed in cleaning the surface, although very often this is not good enough to kill bacteria. I therefore suggest using a light formulation of bleach and water when cleaning the incubator. I use 1 part bleach to 100 parts of water. So roughly 1/3 cup of bleach to 2 gallons of warm to hot water. The bleach will be more effective in killing harmful germs and bacteria that might be in your incubator. I also leave my incubator and it's components that I sanitized out for at least 24 hours to completely dry and air out. The sun is also very effective on killing any left over bacteria and germs after sanitizing, especially if it's a nice hot day!

Yeah, man, Sunday dinner! I remember Dad standing on the porch picking off banty chicks with a .22. One for each of us kids, two each for adults! Once the hen realized the ruse, off she ran and the next hen came along.

Ma and Pa Kinkaid Method of Rearing Chickens. Ours was closer to the Kettles' than modernist. Anything else (500 at a time) went from delivery van to brooder house.
