Something I just realised when watching Bilbo and Frodo just living their normal everyday lives in the comfortable homes in the shire and why the hobbits are the heroes in Tolkien's stories. Of all the characters, you only get to see the domestic side of the hobbits before their adventure stars. It's hard to imagine what Aragon or Legolas or Gimli just living normal, peaceful lives before the story started. Look at the scene of Bilbo and Frodo just talking, and try to imagine the non-hobbit characters in such a scenario before or after the adventure. Tolkien also understood the importance of making the Shire feel like a place that was worth staying and hard to leave. Almost every other fantasy novel forces the hero into an adventure by having the "Dark Lord" destroy their peaceful yet unsatisfying village. But Tolkien actually gives the hobbits a choice to leave or stay home, which made their choices to continue their journies all the more inspiring. Probably similar to Tolkien's own decision, and the decision of his countrymen, to fight in WW1. The war hadn't reached England, but they decided to fight anyway so that it never would. Not many other adventure stories understand this. They make it easy for the heroes to go on an adventure because they're not given a choice or anything to go back to.
Sad fact in the fellowship of the ring When they visit balin's tomb beside the tomb is ori's skeleton and the skeleton of ori is holding his book And in that book is his last words when the orcs cornered them
Kili looks so mean when he's not smiling. And bofur looks angry when he's not smiling, even though he's chill as bread he looks so mad when he's not happy
2:33 What a lovely bow I loved the "cleaning up" the table. I find that very funny They are wonderful and amazing dwarf brothers. (Fili and Kili) SPOILER ALERT: I really regret that they got killed in the Battle. They are one of those dwarves I like the most.
According to Martin Freeman, his daughter Grace wasn't afraid of anything in the movie but she was deeply upset with this scene because she thought that her daddy was being bullied by the dwarves 🥺🥹
I finally was quite wasteful of just shut the whole thing down or having some of the ale or whatever was there drinking just pour from the side. Just wasteful. But I do love this movie

The entire unexpected dinner party in Bilbo's home was just so freaking funny. 😂 Martin Freeman is an absolute king of "wtf-" facial expressions 😁

Martin Freeman is an astonishingly talented actor period, but he’s my favorite when he’s playing “absolutely done with everyone’s sh*t” 😂
Ori is the most adorable dwarf ever, I love him so much 😭
Ori, Fili, and Kili are the most polite of the bunch. They’re babies 🥺💜

I'm dying. The troll scene was too much

Kili was funny in that scene. Plus the other dwarves, but mainly Kili. Especially after Gandalf had to kick them.
Sorry, Thorin did kick them, not Gandalf.
Honestly they couldn’t have cast a better Bilbo 🤣🤣
And it’s crazy how Martin and Ian share so many similarities regarding this character
Oh, btw:
"What? Has it been canceled?"
"Has what been canceled?"
That's all I can remember.
Bofur is an absolute jokester XDDD
It's why he's one of my fave dwarves

I love the scene with the trolls and when Bilbo tricks them into letting the dwarves go. Best part 😄

Never. Ever. 😂
This adaptation may not be superior to The Lord of the Rings but it was okay. Of course I love the book but Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) is badass.
