Peter Jackson takes you behind the scenes of the making of THE HOBBIT. Production Diary #8, covers Comic Con and the final days of principal photography on the first film.
It may be 9 years later, but I've on just found these diaries, and I've very much enjoyed them. You really get a sense of the hard work and complexity of putting a film of this scale together. But it's obvious the cast and crew love what they do. It's hard to watch from afar without getting emotional, but can't imagine the level of emotions of the people there experiencing the end. Can't help feeling like I chose the wrong profession. But thanks for sharing.
those were really lovely words mate. Also, follow your heart, you are NEVER too old to do the things you love! "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us -Gandalf"
I clicked on the video thinking I hadn't watched it before... but sure enough there's a like on it I gave it from probably not long after it came out because I don't remember any of this. Lmao.
It's 2021, and here I am watching this blog for thr first time. I've just watched The Hobbit back in 2018 and I rewatched it again this year. Cheers to the best movie of all time. ❤️
Idk why the hobbit got so much hate, i know the cgi and sme fight scenes were unrealistic but the cast and overall cgi and soundtrack really made this movie great. To me the hobbit was still a 10/10 and lotr was 11/10. Such an amazing director and cast/crew members to help make this amazing work of art movie. I would not mind watching hours and hours of behind the scenes and production work. Soo cool to see these other ppl who dnt get recognized for their talents of this film
i wish every movie production would put this much love into a behind the scene film because there is so much love and craftsmanship to show that only makes fans feel closer to the entire set
Still after all these years I can feel the incredable and loving magic these movies gave me, I can not say it enough but these movies are by far the best I've ever seen in my life. I'ts such a huge part of me now and I'm greatfull for it. Thank you all for this and have a wonderful life
Casting - What films have you been a part of? Comicon attendee - I participated in a Peter Jackson short film by stating "Hi from Comicon!" Casting - .....you got the job
Peter Jackson I'm sure it is long past the time you would be reading these comments if you ever did.. but I have to tell you , you have made the 6 most incredible movies of my lifetime and iam 56 years old. I will never forget them and thanks to DVDs I visit them often . But nothing can compare to seeing them on the big screen..Much love and thanks, deb
At the end, it dawned on me all over again that this all began with a single English professor writing an obscure note on the back of a blank exam paper.
Its been so long, i remember parts and faces but can never piece it all together. Watching this has been emotional I feel like im right there with them watching it all from the beginning to the very last day. the amount of hours and materials that went into this as much as it did for LoTR is spectacular. I will cherish these vlogs for many years when i want to remenise on such films.
Peter Jackson, you are AMAZING! You and the whole entire crew who worked to make this movie. I know it'll be an truely remarkable experience to watch :)
really emotional ... I could not hold back the tears Greetings from Spain Os haceis querer... Gracias por todo y dejarnos de nuevo ver los sueños de la Tierra Media
I love watching these casts in particular just interact with each other, it simply fascinates me to watch these incredible actors like Martin and Richard who are almost opposites of their characters truly show their colors, and I absolutely adore each one more the more I see them outside of character.
This inconspicuous man in checked shirt is truly Lord of the...of the everything & everyone :) God, taking part in the film like 'Hobbit' or LOTR must be the adventure of life.
There family… and I love that feeling… after so many days of filming, the set and the people and the film become your life and when it’s all over… you miss everyone.
Watching these videos really makes me realize how much work and effort was put forth behind the scenes. When I see The Hobbit in theaters, I think I'll have a much greater appreciation of the sets, filming, costuming, etc. thanks to the Production Diaries. And I won't skip through movie credits ever again. Thank you to all the crew for sharing these with us!
Omg these videos are so touching! I loved how they made long LOTR documentary clips featuring every corner of the studio and every crew that contributed to the awesome movie. And I'm glad they're doing the same thing with the Hobbits. They look so happy, cooperative, and grateful.
i've grown up with this film series, and I've watched it far too many times to count !! I've never since had a film which makes me feel the way these films do...
01:14 look at Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) 's face. how proud it is to be an actor of a HUGE movie like this, and after the green screen recording, he looks really amazed
Our family all wishes we could have been there!! What a wonderful movie that crosses like a sine-wave with the books, same with LOTR's! Well done Peter!! Well done!
the production vids of this movie are much better than most movies I cant even imagine how good the movies are gonna be, hope they make me feel like LoTR, which after youve finished watching leave you wondering what the hell is the point of watching anything else ever again because nothing you watch will ever come close
no matter how the movie comes out (which will be amazing obviously) it was all worth it for these monumentally awesome and moving blogs. Thanks for sharing Peter Jackson and Hobbit cast and crew!!
peter, i dont think you would see this. i cannot fully emphasise just how much your lotr films have influenced my childhood. when i watch them I cry not out of sadness, but just out of sheer appreciation for the film. the score, the acting, the dialogue, the cinematography, and just the general vibe of the trilogy is perfect. and proves to dont need a massive budget to achieve perfection on such an epic scale. So thankyou, for influencing and shaping my love of film today.
My mother was a hobbit - my father was human - and it took me a while to stop breast feeding but shortly after i got my driver's license I stopped. I think these films portray Hobbits in a fair and just way. Although I am only half-hobbit, I can say that my mother's lessons about sharing food and steeling food as a legitimate past time when no one is looking was properly portrayed.
After becoming so used to seeing the same people everyday, and becoming close to them, I can imagine it is so hard to say goodbye and see everyone go, and go back to your live before the films...What a fantastic opportunity it would be, to part of such an adventure and a team like this :C
Just found these vlog post (in october 2020)! I love 'em! Such incredible amount of work behind these fantastic movies. So nice to see some of the people that makes it possible. As someone said, a memory of a lifetime and something that always stays with you. Seems to be an awesome experience. :)
I had no idea that The Doctor was part of the cast. I loved Radagast in the movie and it makes perfect sense that Sylvester is the one who brought him to life.
I'm french, and my english is very bad... I've haste to see the movie in december. I already find him excelent by viewing trailers. It's brilliant ! Bravo to all the actors !
That is actually not a bad idea!! I want to see it so badly. Have waited years for this to be made, never thought it would, and the CAST. It's going to be epic.
I add my Thank Yous to all the others, Mr. Jackson. These films that bridge the gap from writing in the time of Hitler to filming in the time of Obama deserve all the credit they get.
Richard Armitage the voice alone gives you goosebumps 👏 👌 😍 aiden Turner just gorgeous thanks to all involved in these movies and LOTR I adored every single bit of them and continue to binge them every do often ❤
I love Peter Jackson, he is my hero, truly. The Lord of the Rings films changed my life. Thank you all from eh bottom of my heart. martin Freeman, I wanted you to be Bilbo before there was even any talk about it! You'll be incredible. I can't see the film in theaters because of migraines, but I WILL see it somehow, even if I have to wait til bluray!
gush the shoot the set and everything was way more than perfect, was wonderful i was laughing and enjoying seems i was in the set as well. i always wanted to work with actors and directors in the film making since i was a child. its really interesting and more fun you got a lot of colleagues working together. so magnificent. thank you for posting these videos had a lot time watching since im off to wrk for a couple of months. thank you director Peter Jackson. Can i work with you please....
this was definitely eye opening. I mean I knew people put A LOT of work into making a movie.... but seeing it in a vlog like this puts a whole new spin on the amount of effort for what soon will be an awesome movie :)
I've read more than 4 Middle Earth books written by Tolkien so I know that he wrote more than four. What I said was there is no romance between an elf and a man in The Hobbit, and in the previews of the film we have learned that Peter's crew actually wrote this in and it will soon be wasting screen time. Basically they added scenes just to make lonely old ladies who swoon over Aragorn in LoTR happy once more.
I'm not sure. I just thought i would post a comment to show my appreciation and to encourage PJ to keep posting these throughout the entire film production.
watching this made me cry a little bit, finally knowing that the dreams of tolkein are almost finished, althouth middle earth's story will be over in about 3 years lol, it will still live with us forever.
He is a comedian! What works for a very famous TV show here called "NOW IS LATE" (AGORA É TARDE in portuguese) the program will air tomorrow here in Brazil!
"That's Gandalf"
Even the actors are drawn into the story
Cut Super, Velle Dance.

Whenever the Shire tune kicks in 😢😭
I am not crying, YOU'RE crying......
Oh dammit 😭😭😭
If anyone is curious 23 million feet of film is about 4500 hours of footage give or take witch is over 150 days of straight unedited footage
I noted that too, and in watching the entire blog series, I noted that Balin and the actor portraying him (Ken Stott) never shows up.
@@ThirdEngr oh god that’s true
Wow!

"of all time"? I think you're forgetting a certain trilogy there, mate.
the hobbit was a fucking joke
Not really, but happy you liked it
