    These plot points are all so sudden, shocking, and given so little reaction by the characters that it becomes kind of funny. I love it!

    Also the robotic auto pilot is Hapsby from the first game and the ship is supposedly like the Luveno that Alisa and co used in their interplanetary travels between the three planets.

    I like how your boss isn't a dbag in this game like many JRPGs. You really do things that tear up the world, and instead of turning on you, turning you in, activing ambivalent, etc he's just like "hey, I'm worried about you" or "you should try to avoid getting caught" lol. It's plausible since he doubted mother brain from the start of the game, but still kind of cool since a lot of newer games like to do screwy stuff with that character role.

      He's more than your boss. He's kind of a parental figure too IIRC. In Rolf's youth, he actually fought O'Connor (the commander's actual name). He does put you in a difficult situation involving other adoptees, but he believed it was necessary.

    It is possible to beat the boss robots HC. Takes a LOT of grinding and you need the Megid spell Rolf learns at 35...32....around there. What do you get for beating them you may ask? Nothing. The screen goes back to you in the dam and the story never continues. That is it. The story literary will not continue. You can wander around Mota until you are blue in the face but the story will not go on. Kind of weird they gave them a very high HP and not just say make them unkillable. Maybe the did not think anyone would overlevel to that extreame.

    The Palma incident is way better explained in the remake. this version didn't have enough memory for a lot of crucial words. Tyler isn't your typical Space Pirate. He was watching over your group after you were put on MB's most wanted list and wants you to help his cause. Simply put Mother Brain wanted to make it look like you died in an accident by causing Gaira to malfunction and hoped to stop people from rising against her. Luckily it didn't work and made the resistance even more devoted to stopping her. Tyler wants you go to Dezolis to find someone who will be of great help to them and to you.

      That is what was explained?! Huh...when I played a rom hack of PS2 and the story was changed to fit better I thought the patch maker came up with that on his own. Makes sense. Thanks for the info!

    So Palm is destroyed...pity I was hoping that we would have visited it as it was the homeplanet of the first game protagonist. I wonder if someone survived.

    (2:16) Did you ever mention that Rolf learned GIRES at level 16? I know it's not terribly important with all that GIRES equipment available now, but I've occasionally still found it handy outside of battle.
    (2:32) "...we'll practically be at the end of the GAAAMMMEEE!!!" That gave me a good laugh.
    (12:34) Whoops. I've done that before in the past.

    I think what Tyler meant was destroying Climatrol not Mother Brain. Bad translation.

    What's more powerful than a boomerang that fires lasers? Obviously, a boomerang that's on fire! #thisisagoodidea
    If it was the government of Palm sending killer robots after you, and Palm was destroyed... who's still sending killer robots after you?

    So...
    *SPOILERS FOR EPISODE AHEAD*
    We got to a damn, ambushed by robot guards, SOMEHOW teleported to a satellite which also doubles as a prison, got our stuff taken, satellite was CRASHING somehow (unless they sent it on a self destruct course idk), we magically got saved by Tyler (Or Tyron from the first game, who knows with these translations) and then we are back on Motavia without so much as a scratch and our Plasma Rings around our necks disappeared without a trace.
    Seems a lot for just like 5 minutes, there was a LOT of rushing going on at this point in development of PS2.

    • @igable82
      @igable82 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is explained in PS4 why it was crashing into Palm. There was a reason. As for the other stuff who knows. Maybe they did not feel like showing the entire process of you basicly going to jail.

      I think it's more of a function of how stories were told in video games back then. From what I heard, PS2 was the largest video game created, at the time of release. I'm surprised they were able to fit as much into the game as they did. Of course, it doesn't compare to modern standards of storytelling.

    • @BluBoulzor
      @BluBoulzor 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not gonna spoil anything but the whole satellite crashing and your guys dying was intended by the big bad. Tyler saving them is him basically reviving them on his ship. So yeah they all died in space but he somehow revived them on his ship, no idea how that works but it does. It seems on the remake Tyler is fighting against Mother Brain tyranny but in the original he's just a free mercenary/pilot/pirate who saw your guys in distress and decided to help them. Coincidally he's also Odin/Tylon descendant.

    • @igable82
      @igable82 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +BluBoulzor Is Tylervhis descendent?! That I did not know. Thanks for that, still learning something new on this great rpg even today lol.

      igable82
      straight from Wiki :
      Phantasy Star IV
      Phantasy Star IV features a town on the planet Dezolis that goes by the same name as the infamous space pirate. It was founded by Tyler and his crew of Palmanian refugees sometime following the destruction of their planet. To the west of town lies Tyler's final resting place, and, hidden deep within his grave, is his cherished spaceship The Landale.
      It's probably more of a fan theory than anything although, this guy looks like Odin and he named his ship the Landale, either he's just an idealist who's a big Alis fanboy or either he's actually descended from a companion of Alis which would be Odin/Tylon. If he's using one of the ship Alis and Odin used then it's almost sure he's descendant from one of them but I don't recall there being a Landale ship in PS1, if it's the same ship then they probably named it that way after Alis.
