People saying the farmland arc is boring need to understand this isn't a battle shonin, its a story. A story thats deep and complex and has meaning and isn't like your typical trash isekai to watch drunk.
@@tyronsredux This is the exact problem I have with my friends I can't recommend peak like Vinland to them because they'd rather watch flashing energy blasts
YES, ITS HERE! Speaking of my own opinion for a bit, I watched Vinland Saga because it was one of a plethora of shows a friend of mine watched from the 'seinen' genre. I wasn't aware of the representation of this word or the debate around it until then, and had almost passed it off as something i wouldnt watch. Fast forwarding a bit, Vinland Saga is one of the most (alongside fma and fmab) pristine exemplifications of human nature and the devotion an author has given to their work that it feels heavily surreal to be a part of the ride. Thank you T.R! ❤🎉
This was beautifully written man, I'm glad your friend put you on to one of the most beautiully written series in the medium. I hope you've also picked up the manga because it is well worth the read🙏🏾 and thank you for enjoying the video💓
@tyronsredux I definitely will! I've just recently started going through all the other adaptations to a story, and I know right? I'm also glad I went through with it! ❤️🤯
You didn't watch frieren if you came to the idea it told more then shown. All we see is her life and how poor choice made her regret not spending time with her short lived friends
Frieren is very tell not show. At least compared to vinland saga and other philosophical-like animes. To begin with frieren has a very boring past and unless author does some type of frieren arc that takes place when she was 500yo or something that explain her characterfor the past 1,000 years it would probably remain that way. Every time i argue with a frieren fan I ask them why did frieren have a Huge change of heart on humans and life in general AFTER 1,000 years. All they say is “well because she set her new goal to be understand humans” Idk about you but that sounds very boring and almost robot like of a character. For someone to basically not have a care in the world, be very nonchalant, and simply have everything come of as easy or pointless her whole life and simply make a complete 360 on personality and beliefs AFTER 1000 YEARS, solely cuz she made a goal is very boring. Now I will say vinland and frieren have VERY different ways to tell a story and pretty much a completely different genre in general. Frieren has more comedic, and shonen-like story building. While Vinland focuses on philosophy, and truly understanding or at least a view the basis of war and trauma.
@@ReyGarcia-z5r Ironically the point of contention you have is the biggest point of "Show don't tell" from Frieren. She has ALWAYS cared but never realised it, ever since her meeting from Flamme. She grew flowers around Flamme's grave, She remembered and know a lot about Himmel's likes, dislikes, and way of thinking (showing us that she knows more about him than she believes she does), She remembers a lot about Volg. Heck, She grew flowers for Himmel when he was lost as kid purely just to cheer him up. The only difference between the Present Frieren and past Frieren is that now she's making more of a CONSCIOUS effort about it but that care and compassion has always been there. Serie is a perfect representation of how past Frieren acts. Serie while saying that her students are basically disposable, she remembers every single one their favorite spell and has never regretted teaching a sngle one of them.
@@bananawithaknife while you do make a valid point. It is still comical that it took her 1,000 years to realize this. I’m sure the author was trying to make a funny silly moment so I won’t be too hard on it. But the fact she decided to start acting different because she had a new goal, and was basically bored of being bored for a millennium is hilarious. I mean author could have linked it to someone or something, or some event that affects her but nah, “lets try something new”. Sorry im not even arguing about “show don’t tell” anymore I just hate how frieren’s journey began after Himmel’s death.
@@ReyGarcia-z5r " I mean author could have linked it to someone or something, or some event that affects her" ...Himmel's death? Ok, this is to the point I actually have to ask this and I hate the fact that I have to. Did you actually watch any part of the show? This sounds like you only got the general story from hearsay. Her journey is literally about understanding Himmel better by retaking the journey she had with him and then meeting up with him again in the "heaven" of this universe as the end point. Also She's an Elf, her concept of time is very different to us. This is pretty much shown all throughout the show.

Vinland saga was the first anime and manga I ever watched and read, starting from when season 2 came out. Only a year and a half but just thinking back to how a piece of literature could make me tear up when Thorfinn being dragged away after trying to attack Canute, his look of despair as his entire life purpose dies at the hands of another, when usually I’d feel completely emotionless while reading anything, it makes me so happy that I got over the phase of thinking anime was for weirdos
Honestly while im into a good amount of anime one of the things thats always bothered me is so many anime uae way too many monologues, exposition, things are explained not shown. I just hate that line. It's so remarkably short sighted and egocentric, but when you're that emotionally and intellectually repressed by a life of violence and hate, I guess anyone could lack the greater Freudian superego awareness of how others might see or experience the world and your place in it.
You don't understand what he was saying he was saying you are not born to fight anyone that is never any of our purposes. That's why he said he had no enemies he has no one he was born to kill
It runs much deeper than that. It sounds like you need to read some Stoicism or the Buddhist Dhammapada. Other people can think of themselves as your enemy all they like, but by feeding into that game you will find yourself ceaselessly dragged into all manner of conflict and hatred. You'll never stand a chance of finding any real spiritual peace by letting others tell you if you should hate them or not.
