    Hope it works well for you. I agree with others, you need to be at least 36' off the ground to the base of the antenna. So 36' + 18' antenna = 54 total feet from ground to antenna tip.

      Jordan Hooper from Toronto Canada I’m hitting Brazil constantly. Mexico. USA. Guatamala. Hitting many South American countries.
      Sure that is theory but depending on soil
      conditions and many other things weird things are happening. I’m extremely happy. If i can hit Russia, Italy, Germany and South America. In my case, it’s working for me. Thanks for watching.

    Very neat. I had a 7,500 watt colossal up a little higher than yours with 5 guy wires and a mean super gust dragon storm passed through in about a 10 minute rant and my outfit went like a whirlee bird. Luckily my antenna never got a scratch. Due to my age and dismay it lay bent over until a couple weeks ago and I took it apart an put my imax 2000 back up. Im waiting on a 15' channel master section and I shall raise it another 15' Which will make it about 60' from the ground. You have a nice tower.

      Thanks very much for the kind words and compliment. I have another 10 foot section of the tower, which i never attached. I have this fear for lightning etc. I dont hear much skip lately but i made far contacts to South Anmerica, Europe etc. Wish i can add 10 feet to it.

    Just to let you know, you need to be at 36’ to the bottom of the IMAX, putting you in the 1st ground wave. Jus sayin. TopGun123 west Tennessee.

      I'm confused, so what you saying? I have to raise my antenna? thanks.

      He's right 36' FEET 1ST WAVELENGTH

      Absolutely raise your antenna to where the bottom is a minimum 36’ from the ground or you’ll be scuba diving with the mud ducks and not getting the full potential out of your rig. Little over kill on the 3 ground rods but rather be safe and protect your investment. I might add two more.

    nice but the zip ties will fail in about 2 years from the weather and UV rays,i replaced all my zip ties with a modded fernco rubber fitting and never had any more issues.hope this helps.

    Nice job! How is the recieve on your I max 2000? I have run all sorts of antennas since 1977 and I put this I max up in 2013, but I didn't ground it. I find I can easily get out talking skip, but recieve doesn't seem to be as good as my Antron 99. I also have a Hy-gain silver rod up as well and the recieve is great. You did a good job,. I had a tower like that over 40 years ago with a beam on top,. Cheers

    sound not ground to utility box, just the utility ground rod

    • @kissingbanditt
      @kissingbanditt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Not grounded to utility.

    How did you get the assembled antenna and final tower section up onto the tower?

  • @electromechanicalstuff2602

    Is it bad to have the coax in the middle and the ground on the outside? I just installed my first antenna and it's an imax 2000. No ground planes.

    What is the brand of tower you are using? I have one I’m trying to fit a tilt base to.

    • @cujo229
      @cujo229 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a welder make a base with 1/2 steel and weld to mounts with bar pipe to turn similar tower to tilt and put bolts into concrete pad. It's well worth having tilt tower.

    where do you even buy a grounding rod? will copper plumbing work?

    • @fixedinbrooklyn
      @fixedinbrooklyn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any electrical supply house and probably Home Depot. I would say no to copper tubing for resistance reasons and also its questionable if you can hammer it down deep enough without destroying it

    Muy buena antena imax2000 solo que está a nivel del techo de tu casa
    La antena mia la tengo instalada en el techo con pefrfil de aluminio y son 9 metros de altura

    So you really only up 16-20’ with your antenna!! Really good grounding system though!! Do not tie your tower ground into your house electrical system ground!!

    • @CCWP0251
      @CCWP0251 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's actually a good idea to do so. Tying your main tower ground to your main home ground eliminates a lot of lightning threat. It essentially makes it one full ground system, vs 2 individual grounds for lighting to find.

    • @thomaslonggun2694
      @thomaslonggun2694 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CCWP0251 now you allow a potential of 100% of the energy from a lightning strike into your home's electrical system and your radio equipment!! You do not know what you're talking about sir! You always want to divert potential of a direct hit through a separate grounding system/ground rod!!

    • @jamesvw769

      @@thomaslonggun2694 No your wrong National electric code calls for any any all grounds be tied together at the electric panel. Read before you post nonsense.

      @@jamesvw769 you have no idea what you’re talking about! NEC code does say all house ground be tied together, but the tower ground doesn’t have shit to do with the house! You go ahead and tie that tower ground right into your house panel, you don’t have a fucking clue about radio operation and electrical!
