Caught 2 Browns on the West Branch with my 80’s Garcia fiberglass rod today..along with my Martin reel! Bought the rod and reel brand new back in 1986..still working today!!
I just picked up one of those rods in an 8'-3 piece-5 weight. I took it out in the yard today for some grass casting and I'm very pleased with it. Like I said, mine is a 5 weight, but I'll bet it could handle a 6 weight just as easily. Glad I bought it.
Don't sleep on the fiberglass. I streamer and nymph with my 5wt. Also, although I don't recommend it, they handle fish way to big for a graphite equivalent pretty easily
nice i just received a glass fly rod ita a eagle claw featherlight...you could review it there only 32$ some models are more some cost less but they cast very well
I've been interested in the Maxcatch gear for awhile now. Waiting to see how it performs. Been looking at their 2 or 3 weight rods for small streams and bluegill.
Twig 'N' Timber Outdoors nice! I noticed on their site they indicate the blank is blue halo.... but the color is halo blue. I don't know that it's a misprint :).
Wondering can you help me out .im after a fly rod thats casts easily as my last cheap one was to heavy i thought i need it for resovoir fishing bank and boat . And not to expensive

+Gary Duncan I am hoping to swing some streamers with it soon! The length for my needs isn't ideal for nymphing big 'uns near me. I agree tho!

+fast flow fishing If I could get my hands on one, for sure
+fast flow fishing I may have to! Good call!
Twig 'N' Timber Outdoors nice i caught a 4 pound brown trout on mine last weekend, they are awsome

+Chase A Love the small stream stuff!
Chase A I have been using the 1 wt and it throws 2wt line easily. No problem with the fattest bluegill and even trout or bass
You got a new sub but I have a question what rod weight should a use for small mouth in streams to medium rivers
+BigRock Outdoors I'd say anything from a fasts top flex 5wt to a 7/8 WT would work. Do you plan on fishing other species?
Twig 'N' Timber Outdoors probably some pike so go to a heavier weight
+BigRock Outdoors I'd consider what flies you plan to fish. The bigger the flies, the bigger the rod.
+BigRock Outdoors I'd say
I've been reading through some forums.... are some of these built on blue halo blanks?
+Marcus Bevier I believe they are or are a similar taper. Great casting rod

Glass, cane, or bamboo?
I just got the 6wt and unfortunately one of the guides broke. Also the rod separates something fierce while casting. Needless to say I am disappointed
I no longer work with max catch. Hopefully they Sorted you out :/
I looked at Echo river glass or Fenwick Glass...any opinions? prob going 3 wt for dries
All will catch fish 🤙tight lines
The #5 is far too heavy go for the #3
I prefer 3s for glass as well
Duno watevers best
If wind is an issue, graphite
What species? Depth of lake?
Second
