Blinder Rob & Chris. A clean & tidy workshop is a safe and happy to work in workshop! Can't wait to see it all go back together. Have a good week end fellas.
Do you know what Rob your videos are a joy to watch.....keep up the great work.....nice to see Chris back up and running....Thomas the tank engine proper tickled me.
Nice bit of informative video. And agree, it’s nice to actually find a problem as opposed to having to go hunting. Great entertainment and education, stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂
I replaced the turbo oil feed pipe on my wifes cooper s a common fault apparently!! If I had known how easy it was to take the front end of. (As seen in video)It would have made the job a lot lot easier. You might want to think about replacing the turbo oil feed pipe!!. Keep the brilliant videos coming guys really interesting stuff. Thanks👍👍👍
Hi Rob. Sometimes the wheel locking nut is clipped inside the small boot compartments or side access panels for the rear lights. Generally found on a metal clip inside the rear wing. Only came across this many years back when I had to replace a bulb in the rear offside light Great video as ever !
First comment ever for me but have been watching from the start. Really has kept me going through lock down and look forward to the three videos every week. Good to see Chris back. He is good on camera and should speak more given his knowledge. Great content and extremely enjoyable so well done
Great upload Rob and glad you got to the bottom of the issue. The whole front had to come off my R56 to replace the oil filter housing gasket, a £5 part 😖
I’m just about to start on a 520 d with I think exactly the same issue We are going to pull the whole motor out and strip it on the engine stand Top work Rob and Chris 👍👍😍😍
Good to see you using your paradolia skills, noticing faces in things. Glad the engine is repairable. Going to be a smashing wee car for someone. Keep up the good work guys.
Being a BMW tech I have done hundreds of these, as others have mentioned replace oil filter hosing gaskets and turbo feed pipe and chain kit, use new vanos adjustment bolts and crank bolt, make sure they are correctly tightened, your kick yourself if that turbo feed pipe starts leaking and you have to take front off and cat again
Great work boys. Years ago, when valves had been lapped in and assembled we used to put paraffin in the valves recess to check for leaks before putting head back on.
Nice one chaps. I really enjoy these videos. I'd love to do similar work on a car. I think that I have the patience, but not the equipment. Easier to watch you guys, but I do know that you have a great sense of satisfaction at the end with a job well done.
Excellent video once again. Great to see Chris back! Have to comment on your workshop though. Immaculate. Tidy workshop shows the standard of your work. Absolutely beyond reproach 👍👍👍
Another great video. Whilst I would never attempt anything like you do, I am learning more about how things work, from the way you explain and show the detail. No comedy in this one, but if I want that I'll just watch the Golf clip again and again 😂😂
Nice but one hell of a strip down compared to the old traditional mini. I don't know if I could stand over a car that long these days. Great satisfaction once she's running on all four again great video guys.
It was Thomas the tank engine looking back at you Rob that’s was funny😄 as to the exhaust valve I wonder if with all the valves that are made that it was just a badly made one that got past quality checks as I don’t know what would make a piece break off, so well done you and Chris finding the problem. See you both on the next one👍👍👍
Good cal rob and Cris is right my pants was going for it as he turned the head relief came over me when I saw the exhaust valve you got lucky it wasn’t a new block to be fair lads well played get in there
It's nice to see Chris watching someone working for a change.
Who else hits the like button before watching 👍👍👍
Yep!
Same here lol 👍
They produce a duff video. Spot on every time!
I do
Ding dong. Friday afternoon, just opened a cheeky tinny and a video from Rob drops ...The weekend starts here chaps 👍
Love how you guys keep the workshop so clean and tidy.
Blinder Rob & Chris. A clean & tidy workshop is a safe and happy to work in workshop! Can't wait to see it all go back together. Have a good week end fellas.
Very educational. I've never seen before the complete disassembly of a Mini front end and engine head removal process right from the start to the end.
Not sure those pistons are legal. Thomas the tank engine has copyright protection, think this could be the next big automotive scandal after VW.
Good to see the gruesome twosome are back up too speed 👍👍👍👍
ironically cylinder 3 looked the happiest. 😂😂😂
Enjoying the build with you, thanks.
Great to see Chris the magician up and about.
Ha ha Thomas the Tank Engine Rob.
Going to be another nice project.
Good Work Boys.
Interesting example of how cars have changed. Compare the Mini to Chris's Viva. Pretty funny really. Thanks guys.
Do you know what Rob your videos are a joy to watch.....keep up the great work.....nice to see Chris back up and running....Thomas the tank engine proper tickled me.
Great result Rob. Nice to see Chris is back firing on all 4 as well.

If nothing else, it's good to see Chris has recovered well :)
Thanks for the video Rob, hi Chris hope that you are feeling 100% again 👍👍👍
Wall of shame for exhaust valve no. 3 😎 Easter Island head too. Love the organisation of valves through cardboard - great job
Quality save there mate 😉
Nice bit of informative video. And agree, it’s nice to actually find a problem as opposed to having to go hunting. Great entertainment and education, stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂

Great upload Rob and glad you got to the bottom of the issue. The whole front had to come off my R56 to replace the oil filter housing gasket, a £5 part 😖
I love the fact you tidy as you go. 👍
I was surprised by how accurate you could be with your guess rob ! Well done👍🇨🇦
Well done lads, well that has put me off of buying a cooper S, as I always fancied one but wouldn't want the repair bill to fix this issue.
Jaysus wept...cars have too many moving parts! Huge respect for you guys understanding it all to this level.
Another great video lads good to see Chris up and about.
I’m just about to start on a 520 d with I think exactly the same issue
We are going to pull the whole motor out and strip it on the engine stand

This is like going to car university. Didn't know what exhaust valves or inlet valves were until you showed us. Thanks Chris thanks Rob.
Your welcome thank you for watching 👍
@@sruk it's me Rob...Adolf
Love abit of fault finding , good content again lads , and definitely a face on them pistons 😂👍🏻
Great video . Taking the front off on most fwd cars is the only way sometimes. Easy to take a engine out as well.
Good work. Make it look easy!
Another brilliant video 👍👍☘☘
WOW that looks like a big job to me and well out of my skill level...well done
Being a BMW tech I have done hundreds of these, as others have mentioned replace oil filter hosing gaskets and turbo feed pipe and chain kit, use new vanos adjustment bolts and crank bolt, make sure they are correctly tightened, your kick yourself if that turbo feed pipe starts leaking and you have to take front off and cat again
Love your work ethic, spilled coolant mopped straight up, well done on the call what was wrong.
Thumbs up again guys, another great video. Top channel on TH-cam. Thanks as ever 👍
Really interesting upload Rob and Chris, I wonder what has caused the valve to fail. Top upload again 👍😎😎
Great work boys. Years ago, when valves had been lapped in and assembled we used to put paraffin in the valves recess to check for leaks before putting head back on.

Had a good seal on that head gasket! You boys will have that repaired in no time now you know what it is🤪👍
Definitely need to check the turbo if you think the missing piece of valve may have gone out the exhaust. Another stellar video!
Another great video. Whilst I would never attempt anything like you do, I am learning more about how things work, from the way you explain and show the detail. No comedy in this one, but if I want that I'll just watch the Golf clip again and again 😂😂
