In my POV.. Meitei are the majoritarian of manipur and has more leaders but while i feel Kuki's do not have a better leader but have the Spirit of a real Tribal ancestors who knows the landscape and defend their land and their people..

Defending one's village from armed Meitei militants who come with the intention to kill and burn houses is not a crime; it is the duty of the village volunteers. Meitei individuals should be confined to their 700-square-mile homes for their own safety.
Meiteis gravely underestimated the Kukis. Remember that before the advent of Christianity most tribals including the Kukis were headhunters. Colonial writers described the Kukis as extremely skilled in hunting, brave and truculent in battle. Just because you have the numbers and the guns, doesn't mean you will win the battle. On top of that, God is with Us.

Apparently no matter how much they shoot,it just passed through them. These are miracles. Kukis gave up at khamenlok due to lack of ammunition but in the night just shooting at random hiding and discovering in the morning that hundreds of dead bodies all over the hills.

Meitei said that there is a white clothing guy, cannot hit by a bullet no matter how much they shoot in khamenlok areas. Some believe that it's the Angel because our God is a living God, who never forsaken their children in the times of trouble. It's people who pray, we are lack of guns and ammunition and also in person, as compared to meitei, but God is there who will protect us, we don't worry.

Never underestimate the kukis. I've heard stories from old people of our village how kukis were brave and united in battle during the naga kuki war. And growing up, I've been friends with both kukis and meiteis. And i must admit meitei are clever and cunning people. Kukis on the other hand has stood up for me on multiple ocassion as a man. They are honourable and they are the ones you want to hang out with as a real man. Praying for peace and solution !
@bingson61 My exact thoughts. I spent 7 years of my life as a student in Imphal. Meiteis are clever and brainy but lacked humanitarian aattitude. Being clever is nice, but to be too clever is to be "Chalak" which is obviously unwanted. On the other hand, till now my Kuki friends still keep in touch. They always inspected if I need any financial support or mental support. Kukis always stood by me in times of need. To be honest, I have to beg for help if I wanted any from Meiteis. That's how it was.
Dear Karan, this was a divine intervention, God's power, God's move, God's hand, the result of many prayers. On that day the Khamenlok people could not defend on the thousands coming, it was God's hand in it.
Khamenlok battle is a great history like a six day war of Isreal and Arabs. The kuki, zo, some tribes of Nagas, Mongoloid tribes of gurkha and Mizo , Chin in myanmar are warrier. That why khamenlok battle also shown how tribal were good in warfare and guerilla warfare. Most of the tribal in NE india are brave heart. It is learnt that Biren Singh is coming to Kohima on one of these days to get help from Nagaland CM. We promised we will not let him go back to Manipur alive once he entered our land.
'200' was doing the rounds since 15th June. Every Kuki-Zo having access to a mobile phone already knew it. Another one was : 600+ injured admitted at JNIMS. Many of them later died reportedly due to shortage of blood at the blood banks (remember blood donation was conducted by some meitei cso later). Now Kuki Village Volunteers will not surrender the weapons taken from the attacking meiteis - the weapons handed over by the state to meitei public earlier.
Even the meitei mother's were outraged and angry at Biren Singh,Arambai Tengol and Meitei leepum with what happened in Khamenlok area and for hiding the death bodies.
This is where the 'STAY HOME,STAY SAFE ' line made its comeback post - covid because if the meiteis had stayed at home and didn't come to attack Kukis at their villages, they would be enjoying their meals with their families
My friend(tangkhul) from that area too told me that meitei people were requested to us to pick up those death bodies lying in the terrain. In return, my friend's and the villagers(mens) demanded Rs. 50k per death bodies from the meitei's to pick those death bodies. This is a fact.

The story is somehow put right but Mr Hangshing Sir forgot to add the weather conditions which was in our favour...it was somehow raining for a while moderately and the meteis took shelter and enjoyed feasting in the unburnt-left out houses becuz of the rain. While they were reluctant to go out and celebrated enough. The surprise counter-attack was initiated. I think this was the main reason of the casualty which many missed. People in plains have good roofs good buildings to take shelter while amidst rain. While kukis in hills living in huts and tinned roof have more endurance in the rain+ their homes were burnt and they were forced to flee....the feeling of revenge and thirst for taking back their occupied homes could be the reason for the strong reaction. It's not that we Kukis are stronger and better. It's the standpoint of defending with our live which led to the victory in Khamenlok from the meitei attackers. Just my POV. Still now my meitei friends deny about the death toll. They only know 9-12 were killed. Idk which side of our story is correct. But we have eye witnesses.
Never use weapon to kill human because the same weapon itself will kill you as jesus said in the bible those who use sword to kill will die from sword itself. THE BATTLE OF KHAMENLOK The Battle of Khamenlok will be always remembered in the history of Kuki like the Battle of Plassey (23rd June 1757) in the Indian history. This includes those who fled for their lives from battle field and fall into the cliffs. It is also reported that numerous casualties died in the hospital as well.

There is a viral meitei conversation where they said the ambulance was loading and unloading dead bodies from morning till night continuously non stop.

I have heard it from the first-hand frontline village defenders, who are defending their life in their homeland...This has been recorded in several MIZO TH-cam CHANNEL and the interviewees are the ones who actually fought on the spot they gave in detail every event, timeline and the intensities and the ways of the fighting, whether it was guns, bayonets, knives and homemade bombs by the hill people and the sophisticated weapons including mortars from the Meitei sides, ready with lots of government ambulances. But, at the end of the day, the quality of weapons is not the most important thing...the fact is that we, the Zohnahthlak peoples are, in their DNA, has been head hunters and always fighting to survive since time immemorial, we are automatically good, in fact, excellent, when it comes to war and handling of any weapons, even if it's the first time they see a sophisticated weapon, we have this unusual mindset and have no trouble in handling any guns, we will de-assemble and reassemble any rifles without any guidance. When I watched the interview, I was thinking that this looks like a story straight out of the Old Testament... And then, I read the comments about the people in white robes. Goosebumps. Those killed in this battle must be given a decent burial by their families. It is not sufficient to file only FIRs. Habeas corpus petitions must be filed to pressure the govt to reveal the location of the bodies. Also pray for the Meiteis to come to the knowledge of God.
This also happened a couple of days after they came in disguise wearing army fatigues and shot dead an old lady on her knees praying inside a church. I just knew then God will rain down his wrath.

This battle was popularly known as Khamenlok battle. In this battle, many meitei lives were lost. The Kuki's have greater advantages because, the kuki's were on top of the hills. Moreover, before the battle, youth were inebriated with drugs so they were brave (due to drugs) but were extremely incautious was another reason for so many casualties, as i heard through wisper. Above all, meitei leaders don't posses art of war. Our forefather used to say, "for 10 meitei's, 1 tribal is enough to take them down". Since, it's a battle, during battle every casualties seems to be exceptional. But still i am sending my heartfelt condolence to all the bereaved families.

Karan.. the defensive attack or alleged massacre in khamenlok which is deep inside kuki territory is very much justifiable because the Meitei could have stop after their ethnic cleansing and genocidal pogrom of imphal City and greater imphal valley, literally all kuki colonies and settlements were burnt to the ground. Kukis can buy land anywhere in entire manipur but meiteis can buy land only in 10% of manipur. That's utter nonsense. It's like bangladeshi miyas claiming land in assam from the native assamese people. As an assamese, I can understand the anger of meiteis but I am in no way justifying the r@pes and other crimes that occured in manipur.
I don't know about the number of casualty other then what is officially published on papers. But I am sure that since the Khamenlok incidents, even the Meiteis CSOs started to advice their volunteers or the militias to atleast have some basic training on guns and not to attack Kukis in large numbers. I suppose most of the Meiteis volunteers have no experience on gun and went to attack on kukis out of emotions. And they Meiteis were too enthusiastic to attack as they got huge arms and ammunition looted or given away by the state.

The death of known Arambai Tengols, Meeitei Leepun, and surrendered and active Meeiteis militants are often hidden, and only those of civilians with no connection to these groups often declared. Such hidden and declared deaths of the Meeiteis were also seen at Sugnu Valley intersection between Chandel and Kakching. Whatever the case, greed for someone's land is always the cause of wars. Point to note Karan sir,: following the khamenlok incident, the imphal people were fighting among themselves and some prominent figure's houses were attacked and attempted to be set on fire by the angry mob as many of the men were not returning. Even biren was reported escaping himself in the nearby assam rifles camp. I can say this as I have been following the Imphal medias actively.

As a neutral observer, after watching many interviews from both sides, it is clear to me that the Kukis have better leaders than the Meities.

Never underestimate the kukis. I've heard stories from old people of our village how kukis were brave and united in battle during the naga kuki war. And growing up, I've been friends with both kukis and meiteis. And i must admit meitei are clever and cunning people. Kukis on the other hand has stood up for me on multiple ocassion as a man. My exact thoughts. I spent 7 years of my life as a student in Imphal. Meiteis are clever and brainy but lacked humanitarian aattitude. Being clever is nice, but to be too clever is to be "Chalak" which is obviously unwanted. On the other hand, till now my Kuki friends still keep in touch. They always inspected if I need any financial support or mental support. Kukis always stood by me in times of need. To be honest, I have to beg for help if I wanted any from Meiteis. That's how it was.

'200' was doing the rounds since 15th June. Every Kuki-Zo having access to a mobile phone already knew it.
Another one was : 600+ injured admitted at JNIMS. Many of them later died reportedly due to shortage of blood at the blood banks (remember blood donation was conducted by some meitei cso later).

The story is somehow put right but Mr Hangshing Sir forgot to add the weather conditions which was in our favour...it was somehow raining for a while moderately and the meteis took shelter and enjoyed feasting in the unburnt-left out houses becuz of the rain. While they were reluctant to go out and celebrated enough. The surprise counter-attack was initiated. I think this was the main reason of the casualty which many missed.
People in plains have good roofs good buildings to take shelter while amidst rain. While kukis in hills living in huts and tinned roof have more endurance in the rain+ their homes were burnt and they were forced to flee....the feeling of revenge and thirst for taking back their occupied homes could be the reason for the strong reaction.
It's not that we Kukis are stronger and better. It's the standpoint of defending with our live which led to the victory in Khamenlok from the meitei attackers.

THE BATTLE OF KHAMENLOK
The Battle of Khamenlok will be always remembered in the history of Kuki like the Battle of Plassey (23rd June 1757) in the Indian history.
It’s not because the Kuki volunteer had killed numerous Meitei militants group (Arambai Tenggol & Meitei Leepun) and state forces (Manipur Police Commandos, Indian Reserved Battalion and Manipur Rifles) but the God of Heaven and Earth fought our enemies with great triumphed. This is a massive victory of God over our enemies who tries any possible ways and means to wipe us out.
The actual guesstimate of dead bodies by neighboring Tangkhul villagers was around 400 - 600, which was much higher than the Pu W. L. Hangsing guesstimates. This includes those who fled for their lives from battle field and fall into the cliffs. It is also reported that numerous casualties died in the hospital as well.

We all know this incident as "The Battle of Khamenlok" we are gonna tell this story to our grand children..
The death toll in this particular battle, Meiteis trying to kill and burn down the Hill peoples and villages, the Meiteis, accompanied by the Meietei Police and Meitei Commandos with the latest weapons with mortars etc is 100% true. I have heard it from the first-hand frontline village defenders, who are defending their life in their homeland...This has been recorded in several MIZO TH-cam CHANNEL and the interviewees are the ones who actually fought on the spot they gave in detail every event, timeline and the intensities and the ways of the fighting, whether it was guns, bayonets, knives and homemade bombs by the hill people and the sophisticated weapons including mortars from the Meitei sides, ready with lots of government ambulances. But, at the end of the day, the quality of weapons is not the most important thing...the fact is that we, the Zohnahthlak peoples are, in their DNA, has been head hunters and always fighting to survive since time immemorial, we are automatically good, in fact, excellent, when it comes to war and handling of any weapons, even if it's the first time they see a sophisticated weapon, we have this unusual mindset and have no trouble in handling any guns, we will de-assemble and reassemble any rifles without any guidance. This can be seen during the MNF (Mizo National Front) insurgency days, where 3./4 people just entered the most heavily guarded Indian Army Headquarters in Aizawl, killed the DGP along with other 3/4 high-ranking police officers, and simply escaped without any problems. We, the Zohnahthlak are, traditionally, humble, peace-loving collections of Tribes, but, when it comes to being invaded or incursions by any enemy, we are tribes, who never back down. Personal surrender is considered not an option. This guy is also humble in the sense that he doesn't boast (and this is true for all Zohnahthlak peoples) about this particular victory, he didn't want to mention many other things, like, proving how much Meiteis lost their lives in this incident and also almost day to day, how much Meiteis are losing their lives, how much-sophisticated weapons were left by the deceased or Meiteis who surrendered and lots, who just ran away for their lives and left their weapons to avoid being shot at. Now, If the Meiteis continue the incursions to kill the Hill people, their mother, father, wives and their children will eventually ask the question,' Where are their dear family members, at this point and time, and, if being among the killed, they cannot hide or make because forever, so, tensions between the Meitei is unavoidable and, as we have seen how brutal they are (not courage or patriotic nor being nationalistic), they will be a semi conflict between the Mwiteis in the foreseeable future, unless, they dispose their CM and curb the activities of the formal terrorist Meitei (there are 2 groups, acknowledged by the Indian government, being considered a terrorist and a banned outlawed armed groups having a solace in Myanmar )and also give a befitting law and judicial trial and befitting sentences to the direct perpetrators and their leaders from Meitei two radical groups, namely, Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun. This battle was popularly known as Khamenlok battle. In this battle, many meitei lives were lost. The Kuki's have greater advantages because, the kuki's were on top of the hills.
Moreover, before the battle, youth were inebriated with drugs so they were brave (due to drugs) but were extremely incautious was another reason for so many casualties, as i heard through wisper.
Above all, meitei leaders don't posses art of war. Our forefather used to say, "for 10 meitei's, 1 tribal is enough to take them down".
Since, it's a battle, during battle every casualties seems to be exceptional.

I don't know about the number of casualty other then what is officially published on papers. But I am sure that since the Khamenlok incidents, even the Meiteis CSOs started to advice their volunteers or the militias to atleast have some basic training on guns and not to attack Kukis in large numbers. I suppose most of the Meiteis volunteers have no experience on gun and went to attack on kukis out of emotions. And they Meiteis were too enthusiastic to attack as they got huge arms and ammunition looted or given away by the state.

The death of known Arambai Tengols, Meeitei Leepun, and surrendered and active Meeiteis militants are often hidden, and only those of civilians with no connection to these groups often declared.
Such hidden and declared deaths of the Meeiteis were also seen at Sugnu Valley intersection between Chandel and Kakching.
