Very nice job!! I've been waiting for someone to come up with this. Thanks!! I'm hoping someone comes out with this box to sell once or if I get my Maverick. That's exactly where I was wanting to put my sub.
I have to recognize a few things about this video.. First you job was not good, It was amazing, it looks like an OEM part and that ROCKS!. And on the other hand, I can’t believe that your “sound demo” sound really good, because you know, you record with some device and there you loose lot of quality, but I hear this video on a pc with a woofer and sound awesome. Good work, and thanks for sharing.
@@keganmowery4223 this is incredible man, even though I have some composite experience I may pay my local shop to do something similar. Like you said, hopefully this inspires somebody to start selling premade enclosures like this for the Maverick.
Inspired me to try my own build. You did an awesome job. Box looks amazing. You think there would have been enough room to make a 2 8” box behind the seat. Airspace wise. Just thought I would ask your opinion. Since you did such a killer build. Thank you
@theunwantedguestst.u.g.5261 thanks dude! My first thought was to go behind the seat, but it is pretty tight. I couldn't measure anything with the seat back locked. So, I went with the storage cubby.
Out of curiosity, what is your low pass filter cut off point? I'm not the biggest fan of sealed. And I know these VD subs do awesome in ported enclosures. I have done ported with the 10 and 12 versions of this line. And have been blown away by their performance. But now I have good friend with an 8 in a .35cuft sealed enclosure. And we are having trouble getting it to blend well with the rest of his system. I think he has the x-over point set to low. He thinks it's a cone area issue. And wants to switch to the 10. So I'm just curious what your settings are. Thanks for the vid and insight.
How much bass does push out? I made a box right around .35 cubic feet for under the seat and it just doesn’t put out much bass with this speaker. Idk what I’m missing, I even have it wired to 1 ohm. It works but just doesn’t hit. What is your impression? I’m running a cxa400 amp on it so it should be getting plenty of power
Bummer man. I would guess the input signal? I've been meaning to switch my input signal to my front speakers instead of the rear speakers. Sometimes my sub does sound kind of hollow or distant. I'm sure it's because I have a budget LOC and not the best bass input from the rear speakers. Certain songs though it does sound full and amazing.
@@keganmowery4223 I’m just clearly basing it off of testing my box in my ST I haven’t got the Maverick wired yet I plan on running larger 4 gauge wire and a larger kicker cxa800 and I’m going to run it at 2 ohm which would be 600 watts I’m hoping it sounds better then it did off the other amp
@@keganmowery4223 Only reason I don’t think it’s the input signal is I run my kicker compr 12 off the same amp and it hits, albeit it’s a lot larger ported box and a 12 but im under powering it and it hits This 8 should slap pretty good We will see with the Maverick , I’m using kickers rca’s that convert the speaker wire signal to rca and I’m using a t-harness off the factory wiring with the wires right of it. Maybe I will have a great signal. I’ll let you know how it works out
Looks great, and I'm sure it sounds WAAY better than the stock setup :) So I'm into car audio at all levels. My F150 has a ridiculous system with an 18" sub, 4 mid bass, 4 mids, 4 tweets, DSP, 4500 watts, etc, etc.... However, my Prius has a super nice daily driver, sound quality system, that also uses a single 8" sub :) Amazing what these little 8's can do :) Oh, question though.... Is your Maverick a Hybrid ? Or regular ICE ? Ours is a Hybrid, so no alternator. Always a bit of concern, as you don't want to pull too many amps. The amp in my Prius is fused for 90 amps though, and no problems.
Thanks, appreciate it! I have the 2.0L ecoboost. Didn't even think about the battery/alternator consideration for the hybrid. It does sound great. Still need a little sound deadening, then it'll be perfect for my needs.
Do you think you could get this scanned for its dimensions for 3d printing?? Even if it's just a frame or mold for fiberglass I would totally pay for the files and you could sell it on etsy easily
Curious why you chose a vd8 over their shallow mount VD10' ? also are you able to get deep tones out of the 8?? Ive been out of stereos over 25yrs but i remember back in the day they said if you built box to max air specs you would get deeper tones? I appreciate your input as im looking into building a box and was torn between the vd8 and vd10
I think a 10" would have really been pushing the dimensions. The edges of the speaker ring were pretty much to the edge of the tub. As far as range it's pretty impressive. I could probably get more out of it with a better LOC or professional tuning. I mostly rely on my TH-cam certified experience and musical ear lol.
@@keganmowery4223 thank you, what are your thoughts on the air space for the 8th? If I go a little bit bigger then the recommended .35 would I get a little deeper tone out of it?
Thanks for sharing. Getting ideas for fiberglassing sub box for my Maverick
I ended up buying boxes but would love to learn to fiberglass.
Your box looks great.

Dang I appreciate it Nico! Mostly trying to inspire others and kick start some aftermarket products. I'm showing them what WE want.

I got the lux package, it will do for my old ears.
Cheers
My parents just got their 'built' notification for their hybrid lariat! I'm curious to see what the upgraded B&O stereo comes with.
Nice build!
you could almost have fit 2 8" subs with all the trim that you had to do. pioneer makes a 8" shallow mount sub that works in .15 - .5 cu. ft.
Pioneer sucks
Sounds good in my little Ford Escape even! Haha
Bad ass box.👊🏽
Thx bro

Hmm I guess it's possible. Don't know any buddies that 3D print. I'll look into it.
@Kegan Mowery you don't even gotta sell the prints themselves, just need a 3d model file so people can print it on their own
This is awesome, tell me you’re selling these?
Thanks! I wish I had the time. Maybe just a clue to the aftermarket of what we want.
What is the gauge of these terminals? The holes don't look that big
There are 4 gauge terminals on the sub.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I'd write the manufacturer for that kind of advice. General rule, too little air volume usually robs performance.
@@keganmowery4223 I will reach out to them. Honestly after seeing your work I thought maybe you did it for a living that's why I asked.
