Got one for an EDC/office bag. Not having the MOLLE helps for a slightly more professional look. Works great. Note: There is NO hydration port. Currently the Huckberry site says that it does.
Huckberry just got another batch of these today! I ordered one, and can't wait to get it. I've loved my 21L GR1 for the last 3 years, but I prefer the slick version. Thanks for the overview!
if i didn't already have a GR1 i'd definitely grab one of these. external molle webbing is cool, but in practice ive only used it for anything once or twice
Hello Pack hacker i just ordered the slick is it me or are these bags different sizes is the original gr1 on the left the 26L vs the slick on the right 21L? Also besides the webbing is there any material or structural changes to the bag such as the backing is it softer cloth than the original or weaker in any way? Are the straps thinner than the original in terms of padding or width? I just ordered the slick as it looks less tactical(also 30 dollars cheaper) for my uses but would be prepared to return if the original is better quality just subscribed :)
@@dexteww In the end i returned the slick and got a recycled firefighter 24 hour battalion backpack i prefer it over the slick alot more malleable and prefer the front zip compartment shoulder straps also not so tight and uncomfortable but up to you.
@@alexanderioannou7416 hi I currently have a couple of topo designs which work fine and are cheaper also own a mystery ranch … might get one goruck if they go on sale as I don’t see the price tag justifiable … could try a RecycledFirefighter too if they go on sale as well…
@@dexteww Yeah the Gr1 and the slick quite overpriced in my opinion i considered a mystery ranch but is difficult to get them over in the uk they have a shop now but they charge them at the same rate as the british pound which is way too expensive for my budget. Had to use a third party shipper to get the recycled firefighter backpack to uk but i'm happy with the bag only complain is i prefer if my backpack had a compartment for documents like my 10 year old jeep backpack also not water resistant to heavy rain but neither was my old backpack.

They’re great especially the nz made
Hey James - currently this pack is made in the USA. You can find more of the technical details over on our product page: packhacker.com/travel-gear/goruck/gr1-slick-huckberry-edition/ 😊 - Rebecca
Goruck is played out as a gear company. They haven’t made anything interesting nor innovative in quite some time, and they’re not even made in America anymore so it’s hard justifying their price. And this is coming from a guy that owns a GR1/GR2/BulletRuck/2 GR GymBags/3 GR KitBags.
James Postle *Some* stuff. Tons of production got moved to Vietnam. Which I have no problem with but that was their justification for charging what they do.
@@M0ebius they charge less for the Made In Vietnam stuff. I wouldn't touch the Made In Vietnam stuff with a barge pole, but the large number of still Made In USA products are second to none in quality and durability.
James Postle Personally I don’t have a problem with things being made in Vietnam. In fact I think the quality is probably the same if not better compared to the made in the USA stuff given the better manufacturing infrastructure. If you’ve seen the insides of any North American soft goods manufacturer, it’s basically packed with Asian immigrants recruited from China/Vietnam anyway because that’s just where the skilled professionals are. And just to be clear, a majority of their products are now made in Vietnam. Not all, but definitely most - from their own newsletter, basically only the limited edition stuff are American made.
@@M0ebius Each to their own. I've got lots of Goruck gear, all Made In USA and the quality of the product compared to other products not made in USA or similar developed country is noticeably better. Aside from the issue of quality, I prefer Made In USA on an economic basis to support local jobs and industry. I don't know if Goruck is only doing "limited edition" for their Made In USA products. A quick glance at their website shows their staples like the GR1/2/3 are all still offered in Made In USA version.

Would you still recommend it for an edc bag? I'm considering returning my CPL 16 and getting the coyote 21 slick version (it's on sale).

There is a 550D version that should be lighter than this version.
I wish they’d bring back the shadow rucks from a few years ago, they were much lighter weight
I have both sizes coming on Thursday. I so excited.

You're right. Still, now without the velcro and molle it kinda looks like something is missing, isnt it?
@@rickderico356 The regular GR1 is iconic, but I think this one looks pretty good as well.
Damn you got yours quick. Mine is coming Saturday.
Wish this wasn't 1000D Cordura. It eats whatever I'm wearing. Owner of GR1, SD26, SK21. Had to stop wearing them to work as it ate a suit jacket.
There’s a slick 500D version on huckberry
The shoulder straps on the slick version is narrower than the original GR1?
Love the GR1 slick. Bummed it didn’t have the hydration port.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Rod!

Can you put ruck plates in this?

3:15 Truth. I like AER bags, but their zippers are so loud,!
Yup. I had an AER Fit Pack that I ended up selling.
Would you get the slick or the original Gr1?
i suppose it would be a little bit too small for gym clothes?
You could go for the 26L version if you need more space.
Are there straps on the bottom of the Slick.
Hey Leo! There are no straps on the bottom of this pack. 😊

The right shoulder mid-line strap looks sewn off center...
So they collaborated with another company to... just release the same design sans Molle and Velcro? How is that a collaboration?
It's basically the discontinued Goruck SK 21/26l in production again.
I still like the company and its products!
@@derekh1070 Me, too. Still got the GR2 40l.
Looks waay too simple considering the price point
